adanduka: What is Fubbyy supposed to do? steal in order to fulfill his promise to God? Is it really God that needs the money or the "pastor"? The scripture says God already owns everything including musical instruments: To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. (Deuteronomy 10:14) The world is mine, and all that is in it. (Psalm 50:12) "The silver is mine and the gold is mine," declares the LORD Almighty. Haggai 2:8 So why should Fubbyy be maligned and hassled for being unable to give N5000.00? There is a Latin maxim that says " nemo dat quod non habet" in simple English this means you can't give what you don't have! The question to those of you who are scolding Fubbyy is: why should he give to God that already has everything when he does not have the ability to do so? 1 Like |

Just tell him you exactly what you are saying here; things are bad, you may not fulfill your vow. True MoG know this. He will release you from your vow. For the sake of your peace, you can tell him YOU will contact him once you get it. That spares you endless calls. And finally, don't be a mumu by making irrational emotional promises |

omonuan: ECCLESIASTES 5:5 IT IS BETTER YOU DO NOT VOW than you vow and do not pay it. (Pls note the words in capital) So next time, OP promise what you can pay. |

adanduka: This is the kind of rubbish that makes me get angry. what kind of person do you think God is? do you think that He is looking for ways to punish people at all cost? It is impossible to give what you dont have, or do you want him to go and steal or borrow money because the church needs instrument. Moreover, the vow there is talking about when you promise to give something to God if he answers your prayers like in the case of hannah with samuel. 1 Like |

Oga Jacob vowed to tithe conditionally. Hannah vowed to dedicate Samuel IF/WHEN she got him. We're they faithless, especially Hannah? There is no need for vowing to do what you can pay, just do it! And if you can't pay, then tell God to give you and you will pay....conditional Oduduwaboy: |

fubbyy: It is unfortunate you don't know what a vow is. If you go to a church be yourself, don't do things because others are doing it. If I don't have offering, I sit tight on my sit. I don't go out to borrow and give offering. If there is a vow in my church, I don't vow until I hear God say do so or I have to pay for the vow. Why? Ecclesiastes 5:4, "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed." The pastor is doing you a great service though he may not know. Don't tempt God, go and fulfill your vow. And be cautious next time to be a man for once by living by a principle. Stop being moved by opinion and circumstances. |
Re: Pastor Tasking Me For Money I Promised God by Nobody: 12:37pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
Please, don't let anyone intimidate you! You promised God but you haven't got the money yet, God sees your heart & he knows how things are for you. I can categorically tell you that pastor is hungry! The promise you made is between you & your God, as long as God isn't on your neck for the money, who is the pastor to disturb. People should wisen up, most so called pastors open churches for material gains nowadays. I'm not even sure the population of genuine pastors is up to 30% A promise remains a promise until you fulfil it & as long as you didn't give a time frame for fulfilling the promise then please nobody should rush you. 2 Likes |

sirman: Was he intimidated to making the promise? If no, its a pity. Now if the vow was to build the church, it has a time frame. After the church has been completed and he brings the money, it becomes useless. It is important we do things within our capacity and not to get praise from people around. |

vooks: Nothing, let him go there and pay. If he doesn't have all, let him show willingness by going to pay part and God who knows all will provide for the rest. Do you think God is a man? For the young man to come here and say this, is a mockery of God. But he may think he is mocking the pastor. God looks at the heart, while weighing our actions. |

Re: Pastor Tasking Me For Money I Promised God by adanduka: 3:18pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
michaelwestern: OK, you can get angry but do not sin. God is not looking for a way to punish people. I think it is simple. Do not say you will give what you do not have. If you promise by faith, God respects faith and said without faith we can't please him. He will provide it. But if you walk by sight, e.g people are giving, let me join them; then you're on your own. |
Re: Pastor Tasking Me For Money I Promised God by Nobody: 5:35pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
jdilight: Mr man, 1st off, its not his church, its his friend's church. 2nd, the money is not for building, its for buying instruments, even if it was for building, so what? Now, you need to learn to think before you talk. I don't see any reason why he can't bring the money at a later time when its convenient for him. Now, I doubt u're a christian but if you are, I doubt if you've ever been to church because if you have, you will understand that a promise is somewhat like seed sowing(not necessarily the same but close), no matter how long it takes you but as long as you deliver on your promise then there's no problem. Recall he went to the church with his friend so its not even his church of worship and NOTHING gives the pastor(or should I say hungry man) the right to disturb him for money! Does your pastor disturb you whenever you promise to sow a seed? So please, think rationally. A church is meant for worshipping God & not fundraising. If truly they're genuine in their belief & worship of the lord, other material necessities will follow in due time. Be wise. |
Re: Pastor Tasking Me For Money I Promised God by Nobody: 6:05pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
adanduka: Not all people that claim to be pastors are called by God. Some pastors are "mama called" or "stomach called." The real job of a pastor is to preach grace and not to extort money from a visitor to his church:Everything that emanates from God comes with design. This is especially true when God calls a man to preach the gospel. The design of the preacher’s call is for him to reveal the gospel of grace to fallen man (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 10:9-15). Though God could have easily employed another method for spreading the gospel, He chose that men be saved through the “foolishness of preaching” (I Cor. 1:21). Instead of preaching the grace to this young man (a first time visitor) as required, this pastor is blackmailing him and you and your ilk are in support of his despicable act. How do you know that the pastor is doing God's work? The vow was not made to God. It was made to the pastor. God has too many musical instruments already and methinks the cacophony would be too much if you add the noise from this pastor's instruments. The pastor is a hungry pastor that likes to intimidate people into submission. I doubt this pastor was called by anyone but himself! Show me anywhere in the bible where Christ asked people to give him money to buy musical instruments or anything for that matter or forever keep your peace. |

Re: Pastor Tasking Me For Money I Promised God by Nobody: 6:50pm On Oct 29, 2014 |
jdilight: Yes he was! Threats do not only have to be physical, it can be psychological as in this case. You should ask yourself what would Christ do or did Christ extort money from anyone to buy musical instruments? |

@ op as long as your heart is open to God he knows you n loves you better than anyone keep your faith coz sometimes we pray in faith. n d result are not wat we expect n dt means it not God's Will what we'v asked or he has something better for us as for d instruments if u say they were plenty of people who pledged im sure d funds will b enuf if not a man of God surely knows dt ur pledge is pending n he wont b standing between you n God whatever purpose it was for |
Re: Pastor Tasking Me For Money I Promised God by adanduka: 8:27am On Oct 30, 2014 |
omonuan: LOL @ 'MAMA CALLED'. I don't know the pastor or the church in question and so I can't deduce 'the type'. However, in this issue, the pastor's calling isn't what determines our actions. His calling shouldn't determine if we keep our words and I believe the OP will be a man of his words regardless of the pastor's attitude. The pastor may not know if he is a first-timer, and as such may be working with phone numbers attached to the pledges. If the Pastor knows he is a first timer, he should still encourage him to pay( but not harass him). |
