APGA Defends Jonathan’s Adoption As Its 2015 Aspirant by S3un(m): 7:39am On Oct 30, 2014 |
On Tuesday Victor Umeh who is the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defended the adoption of Goodluck Jonathan, as sole aspirant in the 2015 presidential election. Earlier in August APGA stated that it would support the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Jonathan in the coming presidential race. Speaking on a lecture “Towards a successful 2015 election: The role of the opposition” Umeh marked that since there was no Igbo contesting for the president, it would be a waste of time aligning with the All Progressives Congress, APC. He said: “We have been lampooned andMr. Umeh explained that in supporting Jonathan the party had to look at the dynamics of politics in Nigeria with total reflection on the journey of the Igbos. “Jonathan has shown respect for theThe APGA national chairman says that APGA is a distinct political party which cannot be an appendage of another political party. He added that the term “opposition” is misleading – in Nigeria citizens assume that once you are not in government you must be opposing government. “You must not oppose government all the time if you are not in government. In developed countries (opposition parties) means those who are not in government but are interested in government.” Mr. Umeh says “There are those who believe that not being in government but being objectively critical will help the government to serve the people better, and there are those who believe that in not being part of government, anything the government does is bad.” |

Do they have any quality candidate to present before ? A party that call themselves opposition yet can't find one single person to contest for President , that shows that they are unserious set of party. For the next 100 years , they will always be a55 licker for the sitting president . |
