Hi all..... Houston no easy o....i came in thru that poe on monday n had a very stressful n annoying experience..... All pregnant women in my plane was sent for secondary inspection...I was delayed for 3 hrs My experience The only reason they stressed me was cos I was pregnant n didn't declare at my interview but I already used the visa for vacation purpose n now birthing.........anyway what saved me was cos I sent change of plans to Lagos embassy n I printed it with copies of my email correspondence with the doc n the hospital....... My advice Pls make ur phone clear of anything that can implicate u.....cos they check ur phones.....even if it's passworded they will ask for the pin n make sure u re bold n smart....cos they twist question......they ask them in different ways They are so mean......I was with my mum n little daughter but they didn't even care....... My daughter was hungry n fussy but they didn't even care...... Above all na prayer my people.....cos they insisted on sending me back....n they stamped my mum n daughter in for 6 months but not me until I convinced them n insisted but I mailed the embassy.....we layer became friends n he was even the one advising me on how to go about documents n all....after delivery....n he said I should make sure I bring all my receipts on my next trip |

Mehn I open up this page early momo to see more horror stories, it is well. We had a story here of a woman whose bag was searched thoroughly , as in in and out, ever scrap of paper was scrutinized, i cant remeber who it was but it was Nairaland pre-tsunami. Per the phone search, I don't know the legal right for that, definitely feels like invasion of privacy, but when you want to enter another man country, na wetin your eye go see. At best you can fight the case later (if indeed it is a crime) but still, at that very point in time, you are at their mercy. Sigh. |

Heart2heart: I tire o. But wait o. Are these stories of deportations at Houston for flights landing from Naija straight? Because if you are on a connecting flight from elsewhere u may be the only preggo on d flight, with less scrutiny Some more information is needed o! E joo o! |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by MamaTobenna: 9:57am On Oct 30, 2014 |
I think is best to just land somewhere else and do local flight to texas cos these horror stories are something else |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 11:33am On Oct 30, 2014 |
I think another way to circumvent all these horrible POE experience would be to board a connecting international flight and have your POE at the connecting point. I believe they may be unable to delay you beyond a reasonable time due to your connecting flights on the airline Airlines usually come looking for their passengers to avoid delay and refunds as the delay is not your fault Just thinking this may help except someone had an experience faulting the above assumptions |

My question is that I would like to travel to give birth to my first child using doctores para ti,me and my hubby will be going for the visa interview but my hubby might not be able to travel with me because of work after we are given visas.will I have issues at Poe if I travel alone? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 11:44am On Oct 30, 2014 |
Neoski: @Neoski, I would advise you apply alone to prove strong ties with home country with your hubby staying back coz if you apply together and based on the information you are limited to provide on the DS-160 form(from which majority of visa decisions are made), the VO may be tempted to think that you, ur hubby traveling for 1st child that you guys wouldn't be coming back. He can apply after you have been issued a visa to state he wants to support you during and after delivery Note that are also cases that the visas are granted without issues thus this advice is not absolute. am also talking from experience coz my family was denied. I do not belive you would have POE issues if he is granted and could not make it as travel plans changes but you may want to hold some form of documented evidences to validate these changes to minimize the risk of the POE immigrant harassment |

Connecting flights don't matter to POE officials o! The best best is to avoid these notorious POE's or just pray well and leave it to God. PrinceAdeAde: |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 12:34pm On Oct 30, 2014 |
@shelly23, I hear you but I would really be interested if any one with a connecting flight can share their experiences as the ones I have seen so far on this forum are experiences of final stop POE. You know these immigration officers are clearly misbehaving as their attitudes and behaviors are clear violation of human rights and should this get to the appropriate authorities, it would be looked into but the sang is no one would report and everyone just wants to get in,get out and not be tagged for reporting such incidences which may cause future "consequences" so if you do actually have a connecting fligth, you have an airline carrier to check their excesses to a point. that's all am saying @Neoski, You husband would needs to sign a notarized form and send to you in the US for you to process your baby's passport if he not physically present. I would advice you read the thread extensively as this information is well captured within |
