damkollins:

Gtbank,Plural house at Oyin Jolayemi is popular to get your draft done provided you have your dorm account.
Alternatively, you can initiate the FX draft from your internet banking and ask it to be delivered to the nearest Gtbank branch near you to pick it up or nominate a proxy on your behalf to pick it up.
In case your DD is unsuccessful, you can REPURCHASE IT BACK to your dorm account...it will be done within 10 working days.
Cheers.

Thanks Ferdimako, I read the post but it means I need to have the DD physically returned if I am ever to repurchase it. right? Well what if i don't?

Guys please I need your help. Went to GTB onyijolemi yesterday to request for draft. Only for them to test me that due to technical issue all draft in Canadian dollar cannot be issue now until further notice. Please what can I do? I don't want to use credit or debit card

House,

For those of us who used bank draft and submitted their application, I hope this "technical issue" will not affect CIC from cashing our bank drafts.
Please can someone get confirmation from GTB through GTConnect that the technical issue will not have any effect. I would have call myself but I am out of the country presently.

Thanks.

just got a message from my dept that they can't find one of my results. hence the delay in processing my transcript. Helloooo, how did i graduate then and awarded certificate? is that my business now if they can't keep their records?
I don't know what to do now, i need advise please. i wanted to write to the registrar and rubbish them but someone is advising me not to. what do you think House?
this is my only requirement needed before i submit. my plans to submit at the end of Nov looks slim now no thanks to Uniben.
i need urgent advise please.

Writing or rubbishing your registrar would not solve the issue. You need to prayerfully prepare, and then go to the school with Holy Ghost backing.
You ll come back with a testimony.

Hi please im about sending my application but I have a few questions.

1. I filled my forms I couldn't fill on the pc with blue pen

2. do I put the CAD draft in the application. what about tampering- cant it be used by anyone who gets his hand on it in transit?

3. whats the delivery time by dhl, ups

4.do I clip each form separately or should I just leave all the forms as one stack of papers?

please I know there are trivial questions but its the little things that are nagging me

No...you can't .
Your work experience must be among even though your school qualification is not among.

1.Your question is ambiguous .You don't need to fill it on pc with any specified color.Just fill it on pc...you will be fine regardless of the default color your pc use to fill it.When filling it by hand, you will use black ink/pen.
2.yes,you will put in the application package overall envelope .The draft has been specifically raised IFO of Receiver General for Canada so nobody will be able to use it.Even if it's lost in transit ,all you need to do is just to get a police report that it's lost in transit with a photocopy of the draft and present it to your bank.Your cash will be back jn your account .If by chance ,the validity o the draft got expired along the way without cashing, the value will be reverted back into your account.
3.They should be delivered within one week.
4.Arrange them very well according to the checklist .......leave them unbound without clipping or staples.
Cheers

Hello again good people,

I just confirmed what tola73 said about GTBank's inability to raise CAD draft till further notice. I was hoping the problem could have been resolved by today, but i was informed of the 'technical difficulty' which need not be discussed ( i think this situation will remain for a while). My friend went to the bank a few minutes ago. Any suggestions on where i can can get a stress-free Draft, or do i have to revert to Debit card again?

Hi damkollins and everyone in the house,

Kindly assist to clarify the below:

1. What information should be stated on the back of the DD. At least something to link the DD to your application as I presume they will be dealing with quite a number.

2. The application request we send 2 self addressed labels. What is the size of label being requested and is it safe to substitute "labels" for "envelope"?

3. The envelope in which our application will be mailed to CIC, is it OK to handwrite the information on the envelope?

4. Can individual passports for all members of my family be in one window envelope or be in separate envelopes.

I know my questions sound trivial but it's important that we don't make any assumptions.

Thank you

House, this is a serious issue! This will stall (atleast temporarily) a lot of processing/early submissions. Please does anyone know if any other bank in Nigerian can raise CAD draft and if such bank draft is acceptable by Accra visa office? Please share if you know. Thanks.

For those having issues with DD, why not just make use of Gtbank cc, it works fine. You can even use a trusted person's card.

Hello All,
Wana ask two questions pls.
1. the proof of fund. mine is abt 2.5mil for a family of two. is there any duration i shd have kept the money in my savings acct before printing the statement? also can i withdraw and use the cash after submitting my application?
2. am a bit confuse abt this DD &CC issue recent. can u use my first bank or fcmb debit card to make payment for the processing fee? i knw this option has been discouraged by some persons in th house. if i want to use a draft, can any bank draft do the magic? am asking because of the emphasy on GTB recently on the thread.

1.No need of writing anything at the back of the demand draft ...trust me,the CIC officials are methodical in their work ....you will be fine.
2.Open MSword ,write your full names and address on half of of the page.Duplicate it on the other half of the page.Print it out and cut it into 2.Insert both in your application package .
3.Yes it is okay .
4.You can use either options but just make sure you don't forget to write the details they asked for tithe back of the photographs You can stack them in small envelope once this is done.
Cheers

Try to place a call or visit other banks for information about this.
I've got about 2 or 3 friends who used other bank's DD ...maybe standard chartered and fcmb....not too sure.I want to believe all banks should be able to do FX foreign draft.
Also ,i really do not if this will help .......most importantly ,I'm not too sure if it was done prior this technical issue.I initiated an FX foreign draft with my online Gtbank dorm account on 24th to be picked at a branch in Lagos by a friend .Though it took long time than necessary for them to complete, when i asked of the status yesterday,i was told it's ready for pick up in the branch I nominated .Ordinarily ,it should be done within 2 working days....but it took them a whole week...possibly maybe because of the technical issue .
If you're not in a hurry ,you can give a trial to the online internet banking to initiate it as I had done.
Cheers

1.Any duration is fine at this submission stage .
2.If you trust your first bank draft ,use it.
Also, any bank draft is acceptable provided it is IFO of Receiver General for Canada.

While preparing for another application ,be sure to be checking out on your previous application with credit card.Let first bank knows that an impending foreign transaction will be done by CIC on your credit card .Give your approvals just incase it's needed to allow it.

I'm always neutral in such advice for applicants not to interpret it to the extreme .
But if by chance ,you withdraw it,have an already made working plan to fund it back when your local visa office ask for an update .If you're financially buoyant to leave it there ...fine.
Trust me,from experience ,you won't find it funny if you were asked to raise such amount within 30days.
Either side of the coin ,you will be fine ......just tread carefully.

Halo guys,

I am sure alot of people would be in confused thoughts like I am concerning this Debit card/Credit Card/Demand Draft issue. I used my GTbank debit card to pay for my WES and there was no issue. I guess I can as well use it for CIC. But seeing the cases of people who used debit card and haven't been debited, I think Draft will be the answer. Now we are hearing that GTbank has suspended Draft sales.

1. Is Gtbank the only bank that one can purchase this kind of draft? Cos I spoke to my account officer in UBA and he said no problem raising it from UBA.

2. Form 5669 (Background/Declaration), under personal history requests one to account for personal history. I am a little confused. I have been in my present occupation since 16th Nov 2011. If I am to put the period, do I put 2011-11-16 as starting period and end period as today's date? or should I leave the end period blank?

3. Has anyone used a Microfinance Bank Fixed deposit investment letter for CIC and suceeded? Cos that's where I have my funds. N2.5m

4. Still awaiting my evaluation report from WES. It has been sent since 15th October. I haven't gotten it. Should I be worried?

5. Does anyone have any update on the applications that has been received? The one on the website hasn't been updated since early october. My NOC is 0111. I hope I still make am.
