Should Muslims Partake In Halloween? (big Debate In Malaysia/us) by JackBizzle: 1:41pm On Oct 31, 2014 |
Today is halloween.....a day that is known for celebrating death and horror stuff that originated with Euro-pagan cultures. In the USA many muslim children get upset when they see their mates running aound in costumes and having fun with halloween candy. However, in Malaysia, halloween is banned http://blogs.wsj.com/indonesiarealtime/2014/10/31/halloween-becomes-a-target-amid-debate-about-islams-role-in-malaysia/ |

madridguy: Of course it is not islamic.....it is a European pagan holiday/celebration that has become popular. It has lost all of its religious/spiritual meaning. The problem is that many muslims still think it is a pagan-religious thing.....no, it is no more than a celebration of horror stuff and candy. |

It is not part of our religion, logic boy. We do not have to copy any one. We have not compelled non muslims to celebrate our Eid and we have not complained about them not celebrating it. We also have not asked people who are not Muslims to not celebrate haloween. Costumes, ghoulish decorations, scary gizmos that you spend money on yearly, the question here is "why do you do it?" Stop losing sleep over muslims. We will not become like you no matter how much you long for it. We were created for a purpose, to worship Allah. Meaning to remember Him in all our affairs. We live with purpose. Our religion is a complete way of life, we do not copy. Live and let live 5 Likes |

ayinba1: I do not approve your talk at all. Unless you desist from this self righteous attitude, you 'll continue to offend God and men. Qur'an [49:11] Nobody cares what you believe or whether you mark Halloween or not. But give people(other Muslims) their right to choose. Don't deny them this by banning the festival which implies punishing those who decide to mark it because they don't find anything anti Islamic about it. |

When i heard this news, i knew the Islamists were at it again, seeking for attention. Their ban denying Malaysian muslims the right to choose, not only contradict freedom of beliefs but expresses sentimentality. I 'd like to see them ban Ashura day where Shiite torture themselves from dawn till dusk. But of course, they won't. Even after debunking the Hadith on Ashura day fasting as a fabrication by the Ummayads, they insist on marking this day annually. One of their excuse is that "Halloween is a superstitious festival and Islam is against superstitions". It is amusing to hear this. For these people subscribe to more superstitions than the Westerners marking Halloween. That the very people who believe Satan eat with left hand, black dogs are devilish and must be killed, human pictures or photographs drive away Angels, the earth is carried on a giant whale and other fables, superstitions or urban legend to ban Halloween on ground of superstitions is a killing joke. |

@usermane. When did you begin to attach this much importance to yourself and your approval? Live and let live. There is a reason for leadership and decision making. There are non muslims who do not celebrate Halloween. If a muslim country bans the pagan based celebration so be it. One country's style is different from the next. Remove your utopia of the ideal free society and submit to your Creator, willingly 5 Likes 1 Share |

^^^^ Once again, you 've opted to employ straw man argument and raise the banner of "submit to your creator" to butress your point. This contradict several verses of Quran and your own perception of life. Our bone of contention isn't the permissibility of marking Halloween but the authority of the ulamas to ban it. If you have gone through the Quran, you "ll find that the most one can do in the name of God is to admonish. Non can ban and enforce, not even the Prophet or ulemas(24:54 9:31). This is where "no compulsion in religion" comes in(2:256). To be rewarded, one must keep the law out of reverence to God and not under compulsion of another man. If the ulamas stop at deeming Halloween unislamic, that 's fine. But if they enforce this fatwa(which is their plan) by any means, they 've crossed the line. Your emphasis on respect and obedience to the clergy is a glaring denial of your perception. This is typical of a Muqalid. It is worth recalling that you dismissed a Saudi cleric for justifying the ban of women from driving, yet you sing a different tune today. If the clergy decide to ban everything disliked or sinful in Islam such as apostasy, and punish offenders in line with that, you 'll be the girl who cried, "wolf!". 1 Like |
