pmat:UI is known for computing points/percent 4admission. This wasn't really so ds yr as Jambites who made d cut-off points(PUTME scores) for each department were admitted on merit. For DE applicants, dey compute both d O'level & A'level/ND/HND/first degree for admission. A1(6), B2(5), B3(4), C4(3), C5(2), C6(1) in d 5core subjects. 30% for O'level, 60% for cgpa, nt very sure abt d 10%{sum1 may explain better} Bt d problem is, wen a course is competitive, it's tough as most will av high grades. Many av been admitted on merit, nt all abt avn influential ones. |
Re: 2014/2015 Direct Entry Admission, University Of Ibadan by alaoabiodun(m): 4:10pm On Nov 01, 2014 |
pmat: The O'level is 60%, while your CPGA is 40% This is how the calculation goes - A1 - 6points B2 - 5points B3 - 4points C4 - 3points C5 - 2points C6 - 1point. Total - 30 x 2 - 60 points. You'll pick out your five core subjects and calculate it like that. Your CPGA is over 40 Example 3.95 x 40/5 = 31.2. So maybe if your O'level is 32/60 which is 32.0 + your CPGA - 31.2 . You'll get 63.2. COLLEGE OF MEDICINE 1. MBBS: 80.4 72.6 71.7 2. BIOCHEMISTRY: 64.5 59.0 50.0 3. DENTISTRY: 67.6 64.8 57.9 4. PHYSIOLOGY: 62.2 51.4 51.0 5. PHYSIOTHERAPY: 65.8 61.5 50.5 6. obaeko: You might be right be your submission, but my good friend that I know very well had 14 points in his Cambridge A level exams, and was admitted to read Petroleum Engineering with weak grades in his O levels subjects, ( some B's and C's). What I know for sure that UI first give consideration to those with A level results. The reason is that they have no other alternative than to further their education, while those with ND or HND or first degree can continue to progress or further their studies or look for job, as they have got a degree. For those with ND, HND, and first degree, UI will first consider your GPA and the relevance to the course that you applied to read, for example, a HND gradate with degree in Statistics applying to read Computer Science, how good your result might be, you will not be considered. This means the course that you are applying for should be relevant to the degree you have. Direct entry is a grey area when gaining admission to UI, what they take into consideration is number of 100 level students that will join direct entry students in 200 level, and UI always have certain number of students that should be in 200 level, that is where ND, HND and first degree candidates miss out. |

Thanks to obaeko, olaoabiodun and justlikeyou . However , a trend I noticed is similar to that expressed by justlikeyou whereby A'level holders with c4 average in 5 o'level and 2B3 +C5 in the other 3 core subjects are admitted in for medicine (the second had 15 points(3As) and the first 14points(2A +1B) of which I know both of them well, so I believe either they are using a different aggregation computation or they are giving more consideration to A'level holders . I pray those not yet admitted see the favour of God ,amen. |

ShinObie: Just photocopy it together. When you staple the passport on the orignal, photocopy it together like that, the photocopy does not require another passport. |
