On frontpage, you'll see "Toughest Universities to enter." If this is a thread presumably created by a scholar in a tertiary institution, or even a jambite, he/she could have done better with the topic. If the topic was edited otherwise, hmmm.. "Most difficult Universities to gain admission into." |

Trinxzy: Haba broza, ABU should be in that list. I said that coz I know their system. I've been in the system even and from what I experienced, it's tough to enter. Take for instance, they recently released their list last two weeks only for them to cancel the list after just 4 hours of release. Imagine that!! Many people have checked their name on the list and they were so happy that they have been admitted, only for them to be disappointed again. And the funnies thing is that, if they are to release the list again, not everyone that got in the first list will get in the second list. Their reason for cancelling it was that they made a mistake. No, they didn't make a mistake. Majority of those that got were non indigenes. |

Dammytrager: It may be tough to secure admission to any of the Nigerian universities but Nigeria has been known to churn out 'illiterate graduates'. it is little wonder why some ‘graduates’ cannot even write good application letters on their own. Right from the moment they write entrance examinations to the universities to the day they write their final examination, it has been one form of cheating to the other. They get someone they believe is more intelligent to write the assignments/examinations, or the ‘intelligent one’ solves the question and smuggle in the answers. They bribe the lecturers, a common practice in the universities or use microchips to assist themselves. There are too many forms of malpractice that ensure that at the end of the day, a graduate cannot defend his/her certificate. Oh, did I forget to mention the method of using what you want to get what you want? Like sleeping with the lecturer for improved grades? All you need do is find out which method works for a particular lecturer and if the lecturer is a tough one, microchips and impersonation come to the aid. They simply have no appetite to study and pass their examinations on their own, not when there is an easy way out. They would rather surf the net and ping away their lives. Funny enough, once these ‘half-baked’ graduates enter the job markets, they easily get employed because they know the right people in the right places and know the right buttons to press to get themselves juicy jobs. I leave you to imagine the rest. That is what we do to ourselves in Nigeria, if you must get education, then get it any way you can. The end justifies the means. However, "To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society". – THEODORE ROOSEVELT. |

Re: Toughest Universities To Enter In Nigeria by Nobody: 10:29pm On Nov 02, 2014 |
I believe the OP should clarify what he meant by 'toughest university'. Did he mean tough as in difficulty of a candidate getting admitted to a university despite a very good score in JAMB and post-UME due to the high level of competition from other stellar candidates? Or was he referring to difficulty in getting admitted due to non-academic factors such as level of connection etc? 2 Likes |
