Scan the steering grin

You are either low on tyre pressure, low on power steering fluid, or pump is faulty.

Try buy fuel, full tank. If it happens again, sell the car.

please do not tamper with your steering wheel. the sienna is a soccer mom van so naturally everything about the car is soft for better comfort. if you must drive a car with soft steering try a VW. they make the best power steering in the market. #firsthandexperience

Well since you haven't really given a good description of how the problem arose then its difficult to determine the problem, but if its only the wheel hard to turn and its not making any 'clinking' noises then its probably the pump.

Yes, I would say start your diagnosis in that order.

Believe it or not if you use VagCom you can pull steering related codes.

You can also adjust the level of assistance that you want via teh same software.

OP, do you even know if you have power steering? Not sure it it's standard on Hondas affordable cars.

There might be nothing wrong with ur car op. The softness/stiffness of the steering varies for different cars. I'd say find another car of the same model as urs and compare. I know honda power steering is not as soft as toyota.

@abaticaly, I think honda is softer than toyota.

I don't know of other honda models, but I think the honda accord has a stiffier steering and handles more like a sports car than toyota Camry.

Hi peeps, can somebody in the house enlighten me more about power steering. Recently i discovered that my steering stiffens and hard to turn whenever i want to turn around. I filled the transmission oil and it works properly but discovered that within 2days it go back to the usual stiffens. Then i observe that the container is empty and a hose is dripping the transmission oil. what is the implication and what can i do? Pls advise.

Thank God the hose was the culprit here .

One last addition, in one old Benz 190, it was the steering pump seal that was licking; In another Benz c class w202 , it was a bad steering box; In one BMW e36, it was the hose terminating connectors leading from the steering pump.
