MarthaK is an eighteen year old young lady from Edo state Nigeria. studying English and Literature at the Ambrose Ali University.

Her hobbies are reading, writing, travelling, watching television, surfing the internet and playing with her pet dog.
Aww, she likes dogs! How sweet.

Asked on what makes her different, she says "I don't know what makes me different. I can't say but I feel
I'm different." Just a personal conviction, all right. MarthK gets attracted to people's sense of humor. "Laughter is life, Laughter is happiness, Laughter is peace." She believes. Her mother made up of extraordinary qualities is her role model and she enjoys a meal of Tea and Bread. Is that even a meal? MarthaK says it is and she enjoys it.

Her goal is to become a well-known writer across Nigeria and beyond
and also being a powerful motivational speaker.
We asked her why she thinks she deserves to be crowned Miss Nairaland, "Hmmm... This is a very tricky question. I'm suppose to hype myself
here. Well, I don't know but it will be an honour to be the queen of
such a wonderful forum."

Nabsprada hails from Taraba state and is in her Early twenties. She Studied Accountancy at Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola(Fomerly FUTY). Her hobbies are Reading/surfing the internet, swimming, watching movies and meeting people. Her ability to know what she wants and how to get it makes her different.

The qualities she gets attracted to in people are determination and having good sense of humour. "I Can't seem to stay away from these kind of people cause they know when to draw the line between playing and playing too much." She says.

On whom her role model is, she says "Who is" I guess gives no room for "many"...my role model? My parents! They gave me the life I now have." She'll do anything for a meal of Pounded Yam and fresh fish

"My goals are to balance the God front: live right with God and man...and utilize every God given potential

-Career front: Reach the peak of my career and work in an organization that will challenge my core knowledge of Accounting

-Home front: To someday have a family of my own,a family where love will always lead."

Nabsprada thinks she deserves to be crowned MISS NAIRALAND not because she is the prettiest lady but because she stood up not only on her feet but also in her mind and in her head and dared to run the race. "I've got all it takes to wear the crown because I believe in Nairaland, who I am and what I have to offer,and most importantly,because I've got the best teammates..."

She is attracted to intelligent, matured and God fearing people and she looks up to her beautiful mum and Mrs Okonjo Ngozi Iweala.

Rozzay is proudly Nigerian from the Southern part of Nigeria; Ogwashi-uku in Delta state to be precise. She is in her mid twenties. She has a BSc. (Hons) in Computer Science from the Lagos State University (LASU). Rozzay enjoys doing a lot things but her favorite pastimes include singing, dancing, writing short stories, making new friends, preparing meals and adventure seeking.

"Being me is different! I am down to earth, Versatile and a believer in equity and justice. My watch word is the fairness to all parties involved in every situation at all points in time. I also have a fun spontaneous streak." She says, in response to why she is different. Rozzay gets attracted to non-pretentious characters. She prefers the blunt truths to sugared lies. "Kindness, forgiving heart, humor and
Godliness are also qualities I get attracted to."

Her role model is her mum. "I have a "Super Mum"!. I strive to be like her everyday. She is a paragon
of fairness and equity." Beans pudding a.k.a. Moi-moi is her favorite food especially whennaccompanied with custard.

What are Rozzay's goals? She says, "I strive to be a person of value. I try as much as possible to impart value in the life of anybody i meet. My long term goal is to be remembered as a fulfilled wife, mother and most importantly woman. Everyday, I inch forward to my goals. As Diana Scharf Hunt once said, “Goals are dreams with deadlines.”

"Nairaland is a melting pot for diverse ethnic, cultural, religious personalities. We all deserve a detribalized person for Miss Nairaland. I
hail from the south, I was bred in the west, the east and the north are places i have been to regularly. I deserve to be crowned also because a lot of friends here on Nairaland believe in me, they knew I could do it and i cannot fail the trust and support vested on me. I'm confident, beautiful, brilliant, dedicated, responsible and lively. As Miss Nairaland, I will try as much as possible to make us shed our
differences and use our common grounds as a stepping pad for a bigger, better and more prosperous Nairaland!"

Her role model is Chimamanda Adichie and her favorite food is a meal of Fufu and okro soup. "My short term goal is to educate the Nigerian public about and create awareness on the effects of jungle justice and mob mentality through campaigns, outreaches, lobbying legislators to pass bills with sentences for mobs. My long term goal is to be at the basis of
human survival in society.To be at a strategic place that my impact or presence will be invaluable to the good of the society. To shed more light on gender equality in third world countries and to aid in resisting the continuous neo-colonization of West African countries through multinational corporations." Vivly told us.

She also had this to say on why she should be crowned Miss Nairaland, "I believe I have all it takes to be the Miss Nairaland 2014 and I know I can't do it without your help.  This I humbly ask for."

This beautiful endowed lady in her twenties hails from Liberia. She is a student of Pharmacy and right now she is volunteering as a bi-cultural worker on her free days and absolutely loves it. She enjoys hanging out with friends, and she really loves cooking. "I am like a personal chef in my house, I love the kitchen. I also enjoy listening to music, and of course shopping, everyone that knows me knows I just love fashion. I frequent Nairaland a lot, I mean as much as i would love to lie to myself and everyone and leave out nairaland I mean common, my post counts should be testimony hahahahah since 2006 been addicted to this place. I always have my phone with me always on nairaland, God bless Seun."
She says.

On what she thinks makes her different from others, she has this to say "I am just like the next person walking down the street really, we all have goals, we all have worries, and off course we all want one thing happiness. The only thing that set me apart from them is my individuality, else I am just like the rest of the human species."

She looks out for in other people nothing other than kindness. "In this wicked and cruel world we live in today, kindness is a virtue I adore. That's the number one thing I get attracted to in a person, how they treat others says a lot about them selves. A good sense of humor never hurt anyone as a matter of fact, if you want to win me over, just be funny. And someone who is laid back simple and knows how to have a good time." Pardon me. That is too deep not to be quoted.

Her role model is her mother, "I adore this woman, I idolize this woman, I love this woman. My mother is my inspiration. My mother is actually an ordinary person with a lot of admirable qualities. She has been through a lot in taking care of me since I was an infant. Right up to now she has never given up on me. In my own eyes I have always seen my mother as a very special and unique person, with a lovely and altruistic soul. She is such a committed hardworking and dedicated person. Despite being a single mother, She still manages to go to school, work, look after her kids including an autistic child. She is such a generous, giving, caring and wonderful human being. She is the true definition of beauty, inner and outer beauty. I can only wish to be half the woman she is."

And when asked what her favourite food is, "You know what they say about Africans, we eat rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner hahahahhaah I hope that answers your question." Rokiatu is really,making it difficult for me not to quote her. Her goal is to achieve all her dreams, every single dreams she has. More like to achieve a goal and then another and then another. "With all due respect to my fellow queens I believe we are all beautiful and special but I deserve to be crowned Miss Nairaland because my intelligence, confidence, and beauty makes me stand out among the rest. Another reason I entered this competition is because a girl said I was on the larger side for a competition like this, Since I widely disagree with her statement, I took it as a challenge to prove to her and everyone else with such belief that beautiful women comes in all shapes and sizes. Temigracie hails from Ekiti-Kwara Local Government Area of Kwara State otherwise known as the State of Harmony. She is in her early twenties and is a graduate of Human Physiology from the University Of Ilorin. Teigracie loves singing, dancing and watching football ( a die-hard Manchester United fan). She also enjoys cooking, reading different genres of  novels, travelling and shopping..
    On what makes her different, "My attitude toward life really separates me from most of the people I am around. I have a large heart and I’m also  very easy going. I do embrace the diversity of the people, ideologies, religion, culture and lifestyle of everyone around me.
I'm random. I can start off talking about homework and end up talking about apples or something. I'm one of the most random people you know. I love to make people smile. I am very Charitable. It is my belief that the one fundamental principle shared by all religions worldwide is Love. I am a highly principled person. I am a Girly girl. I love to do my hair, practice my make-up, do sleepovers etc. I am independent Minded. I'm very loving... I always make sure the people i love know i love them b/c you never know what will happen...i make sure i tell my family i love them....my best friends...i don't have many friends that i talk to b/c im so different from a lot of people and i dont trust people (i have a lot of acquaintances...but not too many people i would call friends) but the best friends i do have are the bestest."

What qualities does Temigracie get attracted to in people? "The major factor here would be honesty.  Others would be intelligence, Humor, loyalty and charity." She stated expressly.

  Her role model is Malala Yousifazi. "A young woman who survived an attempt on her life and who is now an outspoken advocate of female rights and female education in the Middle East. Malala Yussufzai is the textbook-perfect example of a role model for young women. She continues to be the voice of advocacy for Female education especially in the terrorist held areas of Iraq, Afghanistan and the middle east."

"I am a foodie (meaning I generally love food) and thus it makes it particularly difficult to pick one.. But if I must, I would go with Coconut Rice, served with Dodo (Plantain) and a Chilled (almost frozen) glass of juice."

"My burning desire is to be a great mum to my kids and a role model to my daughters. To be able to attain the highest level professionally and entrepreneurially without sacrificing my responsibilities to me Kids and Husband. To be able to leave a lasting impression in my chosen field of Human psychology and be a professional reference in same field whose Theories and works would be taught to young physiologists as part of their curriculum."

She said this when asked why she thinks she should be crowned Miss Nairaland. With all due respect to my fellow contestants, I believe I deserve to be the next Miss Nairaland as I bring with me a whole lot of character, grace, intelligence and charisma to the crown. I believe that I would be a good exemplary model to many young and even older Nairaland ladies both academically, intellectually and physically. I do intend to continue to influence as many Nairalanders as possible through giving them intelligently written advices to their problems, through putting a smile on their faces through jokes and just lighting their days through interactions with as many Nairalanders as possible both on and offline.

This beautiful lady in her early twenties hails from Akwaihedi in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State.
She is a student of Banking and Finance at The Federal Polytechnic, Nekede Owerri. She enjoys Travelling, Reading and Singing.
MaureenSylvia believes her smile, sense of reasoning and personality sets her apart from other people and in her words, "I easily get attracted to good oratory skills, neatness, maturity and intellectual depth." What a combination of qualities!

Her mother, a virtuous woman happens to be her role model and according to her when it comes to food, she is impressed with anything new, she loves trying new dishes so far the food is good looking. Good looking! That's new. Maureen says "by the look, you can guess the taste." Awesome!

Who said Lagos is a no man's land? Because, it's obviously this beautiful lady's land. An indigene of Lagos state, studying Library and information science whose goal is to be "a woman who will be an inspiration to people and touch the lives of d masses in more ways than one"
Her cravings for knowledge, selflessness , ability/willingness to impart knowledge into others in ways they would understand and be happy is what sets her apart from her contemporaries.

When she isn't imparting knowledge in others you would find her reading, writing, socialising or going on adventures. She is from Benue state and in her early twenties. She studied French language at the Benue State University, Makurdi. She loves to read, write, listen to music, dance, take photographs randomly and watch movies. She is different. Yes she knows. "I'm one of a kind designed for a purpose that only I can fulfil. My visions and my dreams distinguish me from the next person. We could have similar skills and dreams,still, how and what I do to achieve them is what makes me who I am, me and no one else." She says.

"I'm attracted to intelligence, wittiness, being sassy, a good sense of humour, nice hair and a beautiful body. She looks up to Joyce Meyer. "I love beans and yam. I still havn't been able to figure out which of the two I love most." Cupidora have you tried the two? They go well together. Thank me later . Her goals are to further her education, influence people's lives positively, visit Miami with a loved one, have a profession with a travels/tourism agency/organisation and work with children, it could be an orphanage or any other organisation whose goal is to groom children. Our future Miss Nairaland here is ambitious.

We asked her why she thinks she should win the Miss Nairaland Contest, she says, "I was nominated by four people,I didn't have a very massive number of supporters,and compared to other contestants I don't have so many followers either. None of these have deflated me in this race for the crown. I stand tall and hold my head high because even though this contest is about people's opinion of me and about their votes,I have not let that discourage me. i know I'm beautiful,not just skin deep beauty,I am intelligent. Considering all these,I believe I deserve to be crowned Miss NL '14. Thank you."

Annypie, is a young lady in her late teens who is very confident at her age, she has her roots in Anambra State of Nigeria. An undergraduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka studying Accountancy who wants to live her life being a source of inspiration while reaching the peak of her career.

Her hobbies are reading and acting...she reads a lot because she loves upgrading herself...on acting , this is what she has to say... "I used to act just to indulge myself,but now I'm thinking of taking it to the next level -more like Nollywood next big thing." She believes her unique quality is her DNA (there is only one her in the world) and her ability to be at peace with everyone...every time. She is attracted to sanguine people because of their positive energy.

AnnyPie cites her mum as her 'only' mentor... She sees her mum as an epitome of an ideal mother. She eats anything healthy/appealing but If you have to put a love charm for AnnyPie in a food/fruit, please put it in a banana.

This pretty young lady from Cross River State is a student at the University Of Calabar studying Law. Her hobby is dancing and what makes her different is her sense of style. She gets attracted to honest people and looks up to Oby Ezekwensili as her role model. A meal of Pounded Yam and Egusi soup can make her climb mountains for you and her life goal is to simply be the best.

Omolola1 is a 21 year old lady studying Mass Communication. She loves writing, reading, traveling and playing the piano. She is someone who has great value for herself. "I like the person I am, I know who I am and what I want in life. I have lots of character, personality and self respect. I don't feel the need to get done up before going out, I will go out without make up and with messy hair and really not care, not stinky and dirty though...lol. I am smart (not to say others aren't, but I don't hide it). That is what makes me different."

Why would Omolola1 take interest in anybody at all? "Are you a good communicator? Do you listen a lot and willing to understand the needs and desires of others? Do you treat people with respect? Are you enthusiastic? Are you open minded? Are you well educated? Education not just in books, but on procedures, issues, policies, they say knowledge is power. These are the qualities I look out for in people, and if you've got them, you have my attention."

On whom her role model is, Omolola1 says "Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. Someone who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. Someone whom you know in and out, whom you can beat your chest for. There has only been one person who has always been there for me no matter what. My mother has been my teacher, counselor, role model and friend. I could have picked teachers, I could have picked people extremely influential in their field, and I could have picked models and other pleasing individuals. But instead, I found the combination of all three; My mother."

She enjoys eating beans, served with bread or plantain.

She has no goals in life than to enjoy life while being happy, every other thing will definitely follow! And she thinks she deserves to win the crown. I asked her why and she said, "I think we all deserve to win, really! I don't know, that's for you to decide. All the contestants taking part in this competition are beautiful, and whoever wins, wins. I don't mind if I win or not, but I'm enjoying this and hopefully you are enjoying learning something from me, if you have, then I'm happy!

Angelamina hails from Akwa Ibom state. She is in her early twenties and she is studying Library and Information Science at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. She enjoys cooking, traveling and listening to music. She believes her simplicity makes her different. She gets attracted to honesty and humility and her mother is her role model. A meal of pounded yam with white soup anyday and she's all yours. Her goal is to be a great achiever in the society and why she rinks she should be crowned Miss Nairaland is because of her beauty and intelligence.
