I have never and I don't think I would ever wanna miss a flight. My mum instilled this 'punctuality thing' in us. She'd always say "The aircraft/ train waits for no-one; it is people who wait for it". I'm sooo used to being at the airport 2hrs earlier LOL.
However, I reschedule if I know I can't make that flight.

Yes I have and the experience is a tasteless one.

Was supposed to get a connecting flight to Hong Kong via Paris but missed it because of delay at healthrow, we got to Paris at 11.59pm and the next flight to Hong Kong is 11pm next day. Those with transit visa and EU citizens were quickly taken to hotel while some of us were made to wait ages while air France sort out transit visa for us but my ordeal did not end there.

I was finally taken to a hotel at about 2am thinking that air France paid for the whole duration but I was wrong, they paid till 12pm. When I woke up, had my breakfast then went out sightseeing around Paris, came back around 2pm to found out that my swipe card has been disabled locking me out of the hotel room.

It was then that I was told that air France paid for half day, I went straight to the airport to confront air France but they refused to pay for the remaining hours only offered to pay for my lunch while I spent the remaining hours at the airport.
e good make person dey miss flight o.

Of course yes, I have missed a flight before, and I didnt regret it at all, it was one of the best journey ever cheesy

It was in 2011, I was travelling to Finland and the itinenary was scheduled to fly from Lagos to madrid, then from Madrid to Helsinki. On getting to the airport, we had a delayed flight and had to wait for over two hours for the airline to recuperate the issue, but eventually it was not possible to fly that day. We later heard an announcement that we will be dispatched to a nearby Hotel for the night, and we will be boarding the next morning. People were angry of course but for me, it was not an emergency travel so I was completely calm and just accept whatever in as much as I will arrive to my destination safely.

As we departed from the airport to the Hotel ( Lagos airport hotel), there was a beautiful girl sitting by my connecting going to London from Madrid, and we began talking, we further extend our discussion till mumsys call. wink

After arriving in Madrid, I already missed the flight that will take me to Helsinki, so the airline had to arrange another one for us, I was lodged in a 4 star hotel again, where I made very close friends that I still have contact with till today, I also had the opportunity to explore madrid and its architectural beauty, before finally departing to Helsinki.

hyvaa yota..
nice story. please can you tell me how helsinki look like? is it more beautiful than berlin and other capital cities in western europe. kitos!

It is not a funny experience. I once missed 12:45pm flight to Lagos. I regretted not leaving my house by 5:00am that day. The traffic in port harcourt that day wasn't funny.

Yes within Australia though. I was headed to some country town in Queensland but my flight to Queensland was delayed by 2 hours, and thanks to that I missed my connecting flight to my destination.

The airline decided to lodge me in a hotel in Brisbane for a night. If Na so hotel dey fine abeg I want continue missing my flights grin I was lodged in sebel citigate in Brisbane right across the street from a gigantic shopping mall called the queen street mall-shopping time. The mall was so big that it will take me a good 2 weeks if not more to see the whole place. Talk about my room and the soft king size bed plus mini bar fridge with all the Jedi jedi inside plus they gave me meal tickets; for lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning plus a voucher to use in the bar to get drinks. Plus Na limousine drive me from airport to hotel and back to airport again grin

God bless that airline and I hope they delay their flights the next time I fly with them
chai with dis
i go try miss flight when next I get the chance o.na international flight o.

Oh yes
Sad experience whenever it happens.
I was flying out at 6 AM from a local airport and woke up late,I was to drive myself and park at the airport and take off.
I drove like crazy, thank God the police didn't catch me but by the time I arrived at the check in,the flight had just been closed and I could see the aircraft through the glass wall .so near but yet so far, I felt like crying, caught the next one 2 hours later.
The second time I was traveling from California to Atlanta on two legs of flight.
the flight from California to Las Vegas was delayed
I landed at Vegas and ran in my high heels dragging my hand luggage as I sped to the connecting gate to catch the flight to ATL and the flight was already closed.Had to wait x3 hours
I am sure there are others but those two I remember clearly.

Yes, I missed my flight from Toronto to my final destination (Charlottetown). It was so sickening! ...and it's of recent - September this year..

There was a lot of people at the port of entry and my flight was gonna depart in 20 minutes after touching down in Toronto. My time was wasted at the POE and could not find my luggage easily.

I missed the flight and I was booked for another flight departing in 2 hours. Well, I had no choice. I checked my bags in and went outta the airport, I took a long walk and checked the city of Toronto out. cheesy

Met a girl, who's still my friend till today. I'm glad I missed that flight, If I didn't, I probably wouldn't have met my best female friend now. kiss

Missing my flight is almost a constant thing with me. I could be so lazy about flights. Which flights have I not missed?
Missed a connecting flight to Istanbul
Missed a direct flght from Ataturk Airport to Lagos
Missed a flight from Charles de Gaulle to Lagos - and crashed in Paris one week afterwards
Missed a flight from Houston to Lagos
Missed a connecting flight from Dubai to Frankfurt
Missed a flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt - Had to abandon flight and take the next one
Missed a couple of Aero flights already, Ph to Lagos was one of them

Oh gawd! I so hate my experiences angry On one, i spent a night sleeping on the floors of Ataturk Airport.

One thing I have learnt though, but which unfortunately I have not been using for myself, is to leave home several hours before your flight even when you are not expecting traffic, and especially when you are expecting traffic. Ph to Lagos is one you don't want to underestimate. The airport is so far from town and the roads clogged with traffic that if you don't leave early you certainly will be missing your flight. That has happened twice to me already.
Checking in online is another trick you should consider if you don't want to miss your flight. Do this especially with an international flight (also works with local flights). Much faster if you aint got luggage to check in.

Another trick if you don't want to miss your flight is to check in early enough (international flights especially), and move straight to the boarding gate. Never underestimate the queue you could meet at border controls. Never!

I have missed my flight. Once. That was back in . 20 12. Na Nokia E63 cause am.

I was headed for Lagos, from PH, to a very close friend's marriage ceremony. My departure was scheduled for 1230 hrs noon. I was in the departure lounge by 1100hrs. I was flying with AERO.

I was absorbed with my phone. I was reading a very interesting article. It was about relationships. Una know relationship matter na? I was completely unaware of my surrounding. I didn't even hear when my flight was announced. I was just glued to my phone. Other passengers were already seated. Suddenly I came to my senses. I rushed to the tarmac, and was shocked as I saw the plane door being locked. I had missed my flight. E be like film, but e don she'll!

It took me some courage to tell my wife what had happened. I had to reschedule the flight. Though I got another plane, but it cost me additional N12000. I was ashamed of myself.

Well, attitude is everything! I then asked myself what lessons were learned. They were at least two.1) Always pay attention in the departure hall, 2) I should be prepared for the RAPTURE. There's no rescheduling that one.

I finally landed Lagos in the evening. The wedding occasion was successful. I had learned some very bitter lessons....

Helsinki is beautiful, but it will be foolish to compare it to even Prague in terms of aesthetic beauty, not to talk about other western capitals like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm etc. Helsinki is quite laid back, for a more relax life and is beautiful in its own settings.

However, you can google Helsinki online and see how it looks like on google image, google strret views and youtube.

How about the one where you mix up the time? Like read 2030h as 9:30pm or 7:30pm. That has happened to someone I know. When it comes to flights, esp international flights, extra careful is the word if you don't want to pay an additional 100euros.

When I think about the stress I have to go through rescheduling a missed flight, the extra cost, sometimes almost 100% of the normal flight fare, that's enough motivation for me to get to the airport just in time to check in and catch my flight. Besides the airport is just a 5 minutes drive from my house, so I'm never late.

The only time you can't help it is when it's a connecting flight and there was a delay with the initial flight

I never miss my flights by my own negligence.....I'm very time conscious and my protocol guys know it! Last December though, d airline postponed our flight by 8 hours but our travel agent didn't inform us. So we got to d airport to hear d news. I asked to be put on another airline because I didn't want to miss my connecting flight elsewhere n my appointments d next day. I was obliged n put on another airline going to a different destination but I regretted it because it became a chain of missed flights all d way. I didn't get to my final destination till more than a day later. My anger boiled over when I saw d original flight I refused to wait for sitting pretty on d tarmac, having arrived many hours earlier. grin
My humble submission

Haaa Yes ooo. August 23rd 2014, aero contractor los- abj 2.45pm. I remembered that saturday. My 10mnt old girl(as at then) and I was to travel to abuja from lagos to visit hubby after 7 months of not seeing each other. Since our flight was scheduled for 2.45pm, I decided to leave the house by 11am believing that by 1pm, I should be at the airport. Well that was my own calculation, little did I know that lagos roads are unpredictable. I got into a cab from lekki and on our way going, we encountered series of traffic on the island. I started shivering, infact I begged God to clear the roads for me and my daughter. 12pm, I was still on the Island. Then the road got cleared, we encountered another one at oshodi bridge. I looked into my wrist watch, it was 1pm. I wasnt myself anymore, the cab man kept on assuring me that I wont miss my flight. By 1.30pm, we passed through airport junction. We encountered another traffic at the toll gate. Exactly 2.pm, we got to the airport. I immediately carried my girl and jumped out of the car. The driver droped my luggage and the drove off. I rushed to the aero contractor stand. I saw people on the line and also a tag los-abj but this time around, 4.45pm. I met the personnel at the counter and told them my flight is for 2.45pm and they were like, ''sorry madam, the plane just left''. I was like, ''it's not possible, it's just 2.15pm''. I begged them, i told them to consider my girl but they said there was nothing they could do. I also saw some persons begging and some even came after me. We were 7 that missed the flight. We were directed to their ticket desk. On getting there, we were asked to pay N7000 each. God, I was left with N1000 on me. I felt so stranded with a 10month old baby. I begged them, I told them I had no money but to them, there was nothing they could do. I was so helpless. I just didnt know if Im to cry. 1000 naira wont take me back home. I called hubby, I told him I missed my flight and I was told to pay N7000. At first he was angry, then he said I should get money from whosoever is coming on the same flight to abuja and he will refund the money when we arrive at abuja airport. Lo and behold, a young guy in his 20s walked up to me and asked if I missed my flight. I said yes and he said he missed his flight too. I told the guy I was stranded and that my hubby said I should get someone to pay that the money will be refunded on getting to abuja. The guy told me to join the line, he went straigt to the ATM, he withdrew some money and then gave me N7000. I thanked him like there's no tomorrow. I was given another ticket and I checked in. I went again to thank the guy. When it was time, we boarded the plane... The plane landed, I quickly got up so as to remind the guy that my hubby was waiting outside but the guy was no longer there. I got down from the plane, we were to be screened for ebola before we can pass through the arrival lounge. We were on a line, I looked for this guy, I didnt see him. After my daughter and I has been screened, I went out thinking the guy must be outside waiting for his money, he wasnt there. He left! Hubby came, helped with the luggages, asked of the guy who helped me. We looked for him but we didnt find him. I was shocked. N7000, just like that from a total stranger? Then I said to myself, he must be an angel. Hmmm with all this experience, I Swear I no go Miss my Flight Again!!!
