May you never experience something good in your lifetime and through-out your generational existence. I guess your skull is filled with pap, saw-dust and a billion dead cells of a whitish unidentified lump tissue. Don't ever quote me dolt.

You made me do this, and for the very first time too. Well, I thought you deserve some words to take you out of you deserving ignorance which is regretful for even an illiterate at this age.
If you have failed to know or reason that Dangote group is a business organization and the sole aim of every business organization is I guess to help people from your own context. I was insinuating that the OP posted a lame reason which literally means that he is wrong.
But maybe you should read why Dangote did it, he didn't do it because he wanted to help people but because of the favorable government policy and even Subsidy and you wanna know why? 2015!!! That is the reason. Dangote is not to thank for it but the Federal Government and the Ministry of Trade not forgetting this is the time for election and it is plain politricks from our ever deceiving incompetent 5cumbag.s at the Aso-Rock. I recommend you stop reasoning with your ears
I hope you can fathom the above lines with your little intellectual capacity.

This goes to MR. President, "sir what about the price of fuel, is the subsidy of a thing not yet over? When are we gonna have the price of fuel brought back to 65 naira per litre or even lesser?"
if he do it nw they will call it CAMPAIGN THINGS

F00l , he is not losing money. At N1000 he will still be making profit. He simply chose to reduce his profit to help the masses. Afterall, he is already a very wealthy man.
Cement in Nigeria is outrageously overpriced. Their major excuse has always been the cost of powering the plants. We expect the price to even fall further once the power situation and reforms, thanks to GEJ, translates into improved power supply. That a company reduces it's prices does not mean it's making losses.

I don't know what to call you, Jonathan's dog!

I did not imply he will run at a loss, ediot! Whether you like it or not, he will get reduced profit(even considering that people will buy more, people will not still buy beyond some limits).

You are one of those ediots that will not say the truth and let us tackle the wrongs on the country, thereby drawing us back.

Mcheww, "the masses"

I have never read any meaningful comment about this discussion. I expected some one to ask like the following question:

If truly a bag of cement can be sold at N1,000 without loss, why has this company been selling at 200% from the past ?

So he has been ripping the populace off for decades ? Or what has changed in the environment, power supply, better roads, Good transport system ?

As I see, we live in a disarray country where every news/development are never analysed to the root. God bless Nja, God punish all the enemies of the poor.

Since I never wished anyone bad in my previous post but u decided to wish me this, may it be unto you, your family and generations to come exactly what you have wished me. May the God of Isaac and Abraham make this be and may no mortal be able to change this my pronouncement for at least 600 years from today.

What are you all rejoicing about .when ibeto as said it all along before he was forcefully silenced. That the actual retail cost for cement should not be more than 500 to 550 naira.on every bag sold for 1k the make a profit of 650 .so what are we rejoicing for

[quote author=ducii post=27692135]The True Reason Why Dangote Slashed Cement Prices Revealed

Africa’s largest cement producer, Dangote Cement Plc has slashed local cement prices to N1,000 ($6) and N1,150 ($7), for different grades. The cement giant is keen to consolidate its position as not only Africa’s top cement maker, but the leading provider in the continent’s largest economy, Nigeria.

The current market price for a 50kg bag of the 32.5 grade and 42.5 grade retails for N1,700 ($10.3), 40 percent higher than Dangote’s latest offer. This is the lowest cement price offered consumers since 2005, and ups the ante in what is considered one of the continent’s more competitive markets.

Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, Devakumar Edwin said the price cut was aimed at supporting the government’s ongoing effort to shrink housing deficit, which currently stands at an estimated 17 million.

“One of the ways of addressing the issue (huge infrastructure and housing deficit) is bringing the price of building materials down to much more affordable levels, especially cement, which is within our own control as part of our contribution to the transformation agenda of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and the attainment of key milestones in the Millennium Development Goals,” Edwin said.

Since the backward integration policy for cement was implemented in 2002, local production capacity of the product has increased from less than 3 million metric tonnes per annum to about 38 million metric tonnes per annum, and nearly $20 billion has been injected into the Nigerian cement industry with Dangote – Africa’s richest man and owner of the Dangote Group – accounting for 60 percent of that investment.

With market capitalization surging beyond $22 billion, Dangote Cement is Nigeria’s most capitalized listed company and the first to hit $20 billion capitalization mark.

which policy did the government make that favors only Dangote cement? Nothing is as annoying as ignorance. Dangote and a few others promised the government that they will move from rebagging cement from Asia to actually manufacturing it here once his obajana plant starts producing at full capacity, so far he is the one keeping to that promise.

Many are still in the business of importing bulk cement and rebagging it, how long are we going to run our economy on importation.

When Ibeto and Dangote had serious issues to the point the OBJ government closed down Ibeto it took the YaraduA-JEG government to get a reprieve and even got additional benefits, no vat paid on his imported cement and about some billions paid to him as damages..... What else do you want the government to do to show support. Ban Dangote

Many of you lack objectivity and have decided to let bigotry impair the way you think..... This Dangote guy would have been a saint if he was supporting APC. This is one of the reason I find it difficult to trust any party that has majority Yoruba support cos you see them use their control of the media to swing and spin news to their own benefits even when it is a lie.

They would not have found anything suspicious if Dangote was an APC lackey throwing money around. Your opposition is petty and based on irrational criticism rather than substance. Many people here have lost respect and decorum since they started this emotional and very bias support for Buhari and APC, to them it goes beyond Nigeria, it is more of a bragging right for the Yoruba political genius of being in opposition and wrestling power from the ruling government. There is no substance to their opposition, just some childish, immature and petty need to be seen as the race whose efforts put Nigeria in the so-called right path........ The fact is that, Nigeria is already in the right path.
Are u sure u are of this fouth generation?what has ethnicity got to do with the latest on ground,u naturally seem to be bais expecially with ethnicity,i wonder how u cud b with religion(typical Nigeria).i am nt an APC supporter but an aggressive catalyst for change.U really need to understand there are more to d faboos u read via blogs.Let me just start with something. My brother go and survey the ibese road and see the zenith of destruction, and pls tell me how dangote will survive with another governemnt. This is simple politics,it is just a way to support GEJ,sp grassroots polities will continue to favour him. That is just an atom of why jonathan can still survive xpecially in the worst economy so far.

then after fixing the price the competitors will come back. simple. Remember that this price slash is not inclusive of VAT. Maybe Dangote doesn't have a sinister motive behind this. Why are we Nigerians always so cynical?

They won't be able to come back! There is what is called entry barrier. Apart from entry barrier, competitors now know Dangote can play dirty. They know if they come back, he will still send them away by lowering price. So why would they waste their money?
