I had my immigrant interview today, i answered all the CO questions correctly but the only issue was her question about my spouse health condition which she insisted on knowing, i told her it was a private issue between me, my spouse and his doctor though a medical certificate was issued and i gave her the medical certificate but she still insisted that i have to go into all the details. After the interview she told me my case file will be going thru administrative processing and she collected all emails, Facebook chat, Skype chats and phone records from me. She also gave me a contact sheet and said i can submit it at a location or email LagosIV@state.gov.

Can we send the contact sheet as an attachment or just send the details of all the contacts thru email. Please ma, am so confused right now, me and my spouse have a genuine relationship even though we have not spent enough time with each other and we have submitted an evidence to back that up.

Please ma after submitting the contact sheet how long will it take before the embassy contact us? And what will be the next line of action.

The CO didn't even touch the computer mouse, and didn't even type anything into the system, all she did was write down my response to her questions on a piece of paper which i find so strange. Maybe she's new in the embassy. It feels as if she has made up her mind before i showed up at her window.

We often do ask personal questions during the interviews. It's a way of verifying that the beneficiary and the petitioner have the level of knowledge about each other that you would expect of two people in a relationship.

Now that the case is under administrative processing, the more complete and accurate you can be in filling out the contact sheet, the more easily the officers will be able to use it and the more quickly your case can be processed. If you're going to send the contact sheet by e-mail, please scan it and send it as an attachment. Thanks!

What I think can be obstacle in this aspect is,My father has been staying in the US currently in the form of asylee, but he has not been granted the asylum status yet. Due to circumstances, he had to go in a tourist visa and as a result of political fear, he is applying for asylum. Can this be the obstacle for me to travel to the US for my higher studies?

I'm afraid I really can't give you an estimate. I hope it will only take a few weeks, but it depends how the review goes.

My husband had applied for a visitor visa to the U.S. in 2010 and during this interview he misrepresented that he had a child that actually belongs to his prior spouse. She had this child from another relationship prior to his marriage to her. So when my husband went in for his interview 2 days ago they asked him has he talked with me since our marriage and he said yes, but they only asked to see call logs from him and not call logs from me as the petitioner. The officer wouldn't take the call logs from me. The officer asked if we had emails he said yes and provided a few from the evidence binder I mailed to my husband. Then they asked him some questions about the pictures of my husband and his parents, but didn't look at any pictures of us together. Then the CO Officer asked him about the child and rather than clearing up that he lied the first time he told them the child is deceased. That is true the child is deceased, but it is not my husband biological child. The officer gave him a form to complete with my phone number and name and my husbands home address and business address and gave him a 221g form and said we are put in AP Processing pending further review. I sent an email to the embassy explaining this situation and received an email back thanking me for the information stating they understand my concerns and will be in touch and stated it takes time for a response. We asked for a 2nd interview so that he could return and clear this particular matter up. He is wholeheartedly sorry for doing this. I knew about his former deceased spouse and I knew about the deceased child, but will admit that my husband didn't brief me on the matter of his misrep in the first interview. It came about I discovered when this interview commenced. I am just wondering what they could be thinking about all of this and we are hoping and praying that this can be resolved. We are truly in a bona fide relationship, this was not some relationship we engaged in for him to receive a visa. My husband is a very honest, caring, loving, and extremely supportive to him. This entire process has placed a huge hardship on us and we have been waiting for 16 months just for this interview. Now we are limbo. Any advice, information on what this really means, the possibility of us getting an approval after this, and any information on what we should or are able to do next would be greatly appreciated.

I met a US citizen (woman) on the internet, facebook to be precise. After few weeks of knowing her we fell in love with each other. After few months, I invited her to Nigeria, she came and we wedded in the court.

Now she is currently in the US and she wants to file I-130 for me but I have some issues bothering me;

1. I met this woman through the internet and she is 20years older than me (i'm 26) will this be a problem for me during my visa interview? Honestly I love this woman so much and she loves me too, to us age is no barrier to love. Our marriage is not sham, it's based 100% on love.

2. She has not been working for the past two years due to heartbreak from her last marriage (married two husbands, all divorced) since I met her I have been very supportive to her, I encouraged her to start working again and has gotten a new job. Can she use her previous income and this new one to file the financial support document for me? Will the two years of no work affect my chances at the embassy? Can I as well present my bank account statement to show that I have money and that I can care for myself in the US?

3. I have only met her in person once, will this affect my interview outcome negatively?

Well, first, if you stay outside the U.S. for more than 12 months, you'll lose your Legal Permanent Resident status. Please be careful.

I'm afraid relocation advice is far outside my sphere of expertise. I haven't lived in the U.S. since 1998 myself. There are other Nairaland threads that might be of more use to you. Good luck!

Actually I have to admit that based on what you've written, I don't see any real misrepresentation in what your husband said. Apparently he did have a stepchild and the stepchild is now deceased. I may be missing something, of course. It sounds like the officer is investigating the case; if he or she finds that you do indeed have a bona fide relationship, your husband's chances of obtaining a visa are very good.

It's all going to come down to how credible you are in the interview. The officer will ask several questions to see if you have the level of familiarity with your spouse that we usually see from people who are married... we won't expect you to know everything about each other, but if you just can't talk about the relationship, you probably won't receive a visa. Someone else helped you with your application, but ultimately the responsibility for the dishonesty rests on you; you swore under oath that the details in your application were true, when you knew they weren't, in order to obtain a visa that you apparently felt you wouldn't qualify for if you told the truth. That will make it very hard for you to convince us that we can trust what you say now. It's not impossible, but it's going to be difficult.

The important thing is to be honest from here on out. That will go a long way toward reestablishing your credibility.

The U.S. Mission to Nigeria is pleased to announce that on November 8 its document collection and distribution partnership with DHL is expanding to include a new location in Port Harcourt. Just as with our DHL partner locations in Lagos and Abuja, non-immigrant visa applicants can now have their approved passports and visas forwarded to a DHL collection center in Port Harcourt. Non-immigrant applicants who interview in Lagos or Abuja will see the option of picking up their passport in Port Harcourt when applying online.

Similarly, applicants will be able to submit their passports to the DHL collection center in Port Harcourt as part of the U.S. Mission to Nigeria’s drop box renewal program, just as is currently done with collection centers in Lagos and Abuja. Information on the drop box renewal program is available at http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/niv_dropbox.html.

Processing times for tasks taking place via the collection center in Port Harcourt are expected to take one additional day than when a collection center in Abuja or Lagos is used, as the passports must be transported to and from Port Harcourt. Thanks for your prompt reply sir'. I was so naive back then. The miserable man was actually in control of everything from a-z. I have actually learnt my lesson; Its quite unfortunate ! I have a good job here in Nigeria with wife and kids. I just messed myself up cos it has been my dream from childhood days (40+now) to see how america looks like.

These omissions aren't a big deal. If the officer asks you about past refusals, you can explain -- or you might want to mention it right away at the beginning of the interview. As long as you didn't say you were married with three kids in the non-immigrant case, before appearing before us as a never-married fiance case, it's not a problem. We only get excited when it looks like the applicant is trying to conceal derogatory information.

As for your medical record, the paperwork you receive from your panel physician counts, so by the time you see us, you'll have a medical record.

Hello VO Ma, I went for my IV interview today 7th of NOV and was interviewed by the IO, i got all the questions to her satisfactions....she asked for records of communication through out duration of courtship and i gave her the one i got from 2011 till date,also gave her some recent pictures aside our wedding ones after she offered me this Letter. Here is a copy of the letter which stated thus:

Dear Visa Applicant:
You may return at such time that you have all requested materials.When you are ready, you should email LagosIVscheduling@state.gov.You will then be notified of your appointment date via email.

The subject line must follow this format: 221(g) appointment for applicant"s name and case number.The case number is listed on this letter.

The Bidy of the email should include any dates that you Prefer,Appointments are held on Monday through Thursday(except Nigerian and US public Holiday) at 1:00pm

Pls return with:

1)Records of communication throughout duration of relationship
2)Recent pictures of you and the petitioner that are not wedding pictures

Dear VO, once again, welldone for this selfless service rendering on this forum. In respect to the above bolded area, can you please confirm that it is true you don't accept call logs details from the petitioner? This is because I am planning to bring along my fiancé's call log (Boss Revolution) which I actually printed them out online from here during my own K1 interview hopefully soonest ... It's pretty cheap for us buying card there and she making the calls while its kinda difficult getting call logs from most naija network provider here...

Thank you for all the advice you have been giving to my fellow Nairalanders, i have been following this thread for a long while ever since we started our immigrant visa process last year and it has been very useful to me i recently got a mail from the NVC informing me of my interview that has been scheduled for 30th of Dec 2014 and am very excited about it and i pray everything goes well for me during my interview so me and my hubby can be united. Please ma my question is am i going to get any other mail or document that i will be needing to attend the interview from the lagos consulate if yes by '' email or mail '' secondly how soon can i schedule my medicals as i currently live in Abuja and its only done in Lagos can i schedule it like 1 weeks to my interview date will that be too close cos i am think about using 1 stone to kill 2 birds i.e come to Lagos around 20-22 of December do the medicals and stay till 30th for my interview so i don't shuttle Abuja/Lagos twice as the roads will be very busy because of the festive season.

Ive been reading a lot of different forums regarding the K1 process and there's actually a lot of info out there. My question is, How does the CO view the k1 interview if the petitioner is present with the beneficiary?

Does it help their case? Does it matter?

I have read a lot regarding k1 cases. Some have stated that the CO's decision has already been made prior to the interview with the beneficiary.
