Good day all, thanks for the response i have received so far with regard to my previous question....i would like the house to help me verify if anyone has been issued a visa under SVP without statement of account and sponsorship letter? My agent has been pressurizing to bring one even when i have referred him to DIAC website where it stated that a student under SVP just needs to declare that he has the ability to take care of himself while in Australia without showing any documents attached. thanks for your anticipated reply |

alukojosh: No I haven't. You'll be fine as long as you include all the required documents. |
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by FutureDon(m): 12:39am On Nov 07, 2014 |
sunnysunshine: Many people, including myself, got our visas approved without a statement of account. It's either your provide your agent with what they want or just proceed and apply by yourself. Applying for an Australian student visa (SVP category) is one of the easiest thing to do. It's easier than some of the assignment you'll have to complete in the Uni when you arrive 4 Likes |

Hi Everyone, I applied for a Temporary skilled graduate Visa (18 months validity, multiple entry) which was approved some weeks back. I was given a one year window to turn up in Australia before it starts counting. I have a BEng (Nig) & MSc (UK) in Chem Eng. I'm in Nigeria at the moment and thankfully, participating in a recruitment process of which if am successfully, I might not really need to tow the visa path. (Not still convinced yet ). Truth is I love Nigeria and would be happy if I can contribute to making things work but unfortunately, the love has never been returned. Having this at the back of my mind, I always try to seek alternatives. So guyz, I need advice (Especially from those currently in Australia) on how best to go about graduate job search in Australia. I decided to give Australia a try because I heard there are lots of prospects there. I am already searching online using search agencies like seek, careerone, gradconnection etc. How effective are these sites with respect to graduate job search?. I am hoping to secure an offer here before travelling over as it will help determine so many things e.g travel destination/city, housing, proximity etc. Can this be done or do I have to set foot in Australia to achieve this? How soon from experience can I secure a job on either scenario?. ( I don't know anyone in Australia) My past work experience has been internship roles in the O&G sector thus the search for grad positions. I'm open to contract or full time that can lead to Permanent Residency I really need info/suggestions from as many of you as possible. You can refer me to those you know working in my field (recent graduates inclusive) if you don't have answers suited to my needs. My U.S (B1/B2) Visa expires mid next year and doesn't grant me working rights hence my focus on this. Pardon me but I had to chip in the last sentence incase anyone has a broader or out of the box suggestion. cc: Jennykadry Manmeta Watermelon Okesammie Nobody bossladyMo |

ArtistA: I dunno where to start from, cos the matter no be here Congrats on the new job and the visa as well. Forget about your love for Nigeria (you no love Naija reach me wallahi ) There are lots of Job prospects here in Australia, especially O/G (i mean right now till say maybe end of 2016). Searching online is good, it works but Australia too like agents and agencies, so if you come down here in Perth and have a chat with an Agency like Bechtel or Hays, you most likely get a job faster than someone applying to the companies directly. I say this from my own experience and general observation. You can send these agencies apps online but trust me, if you go over and meet them in their office, there's a difference. (Australia man know man strong pass Naija own ooo na just say them dey do their own with class, with style, codedly) I support your idea of securing an offer before travelling for some reasons; especially if the Naija offer you just got is in O/G preferably a MNC. But if you choose to travel, head straight to Perth or Queensland cos the major O/G projects are in full swing now. Of course there's Darwin too, huge projects but i dont wanna go into that here. Either way, whether trying from here or abroad, its achievable but there some factors common to both that will determine if and how fast you'll get an offer. 1. Permanent Residency i'm sure this is an easy guess. Australian employers (most especially in O/G) know that the locals come first before any other type of visa. Of course we believe in miracles so a company could take you and sponsor but what are the chances? yeah those slim chances could be your portion, i dunno. 2. Qualification/ Experience: you may be surprised to hear this but in Oz, THE TRADES RULE. The truck drivers, electricians, offsiders, etc. they make big money(talk about 100k - 150k per annum just for an apprentice;depending on the company sha, think of how much you'll make as an experienced mechanical fitter, or crane operator, etc )These guys make big money even more than Professionals and the Trade Union is Strong (always there to protect their interests) and those roles are the easiest way to get in into the industry but you need to have Local licences, registrations, permits and qualifications. Most roles require just a Cert II, Cert III, maximum of Cert IV. They dont care much about your Diploma,BSc, MSC...only for some (very few number) positions and of course considerable experience has to go with it. The easiest way to get in with this high qualifications is through graduate programs that come annually (fair enough, cos a tradie cant apply for that ) Or better still man know man. Recently, i think in June, WA passed a law that only PR and Citizens can procure the Maritime Card which you require to work offshore in Western Australian waters. I'm sure you know what that means. In fact sometimes they threaten people from the east coast If you dont have local experience, FIFO experience, the slimmer your chance gets, technically speaking. If you can get an internship, that'd be fantastic. There are some pros and cons( a lot of talking points) of being on ground or trying from abroad that time wont permit me to go into here. Good luck. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

snowburn: Thanks Snowburn for your reply. Just to point out, I'm yet to secure the Nig job but I welcome your compliment in advance. Believe me, I can relate to what you've typed. My location on seek has been Perth by default. I am actually aware of projects (esp LNG) ongoing in OZ but you've rightly mentioned some of my fears bordering on experience and offshore operations. Certain decisions can really be burdensome. |

busola78:Lol this Bcie folks again. What do you wanna study?? It might be better for u to apply directly. There are some schools that the application is free and ur offer can come out in two weeks. Let the house know what ur interested in studying so we can push u in the right direction. As for Bcie there are still ways around their wahala. But that should be ur last resort. |

ArtistA: U cud also look in to minning especially the metallurgy aspect. Major bread in that sector. If I where u I will move to oz asap. Bros no time to check time. Don't dull ur self. I agree getting a skilled position in Naija is wey better off than in the west because ur money goes a long way, Naija recruitment could be a long thing 85% of the time. Bros Stop debating in your head and move to oz FULLSTOP |

ArtistA: Snowburn actually hit the nail on the head. Australia is not like the states or the UK or Nigeria where masters degree holders are over pampered. Most Australian employers are more interested in your skills than degree. A 19 year old Australian is on a 150-180k pere annum job. All he did was a diploma course. Do you know that even KITCHEN HAND in QueensLanD(I say QLD cos I was there recently and I saw an ad for kitchen hand) earn 130k per annum. I mentioned something about occupational hygienists some time back because I found out that one guy who did a dilploma in occupational health and safety works as an hygienist but FIFO 6/4 roaster is earning as much as 150dollars per hour. This guy no get masters or PHD oooo just a diploma. As per your field path, look at perth. Perth unfortunately or fortunately is the most fruitful city in oil and gas and mining and ??health care(many health workers I know from other states say they earn more in WA than in other cities). I though stand to be corrected believe its the highest paying city in Australia and cos of that cost of living is very high. If you can get into mining please go right ahead and grab it. Since you love Nigeria please feel free to relax your bottom in Nigeria. E go better one day 3 Likes |

Please guys, I want to study for a masters programme in Australia. I want to study international relations or any other related courses, the issue is that there is no 'M. Sc International Relations, instead it is Master of International Relations. Please, does anyone know the difference. That is even how all the courses are like. Can someone use a Master of International Relations to undergo a PhD programme in any other university. Also, I was told that CRICOS is the reliable source of courses and institutions for international students. So, I discovered that the CRICOS code and courses of the institution of choice is different from that of the school's website. Also, which school cooler or better, UNSW or ANU. Beaded on location and other factors. I am not applying directly to a school BTW. |

Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Zenkel(m): 1:44am On Nov 08, 2014 |
My advice is you give the ongoing recruitment process your best shot. I know it normally last up to 12mnths, but be patient enough to see how it turn out before coming to Australia. Getting a graduate job in Australia or any other jobs depends on your experience. For graduate jobs, your experience in a multinational firms can be of great value and for casual jobs, local experience here in Australia rules. If at all you don't have graduate experience and you are DESPERATE to have one, what I'll advice is you approach a firm or recruitment agency in Australia stating your willingness to learn and work even without PAY, Yeah, without pay. If they can cover your insurance, good for you. You can combine the job with another casual jobs so you can be able to pay off your bills. Who knows, the company may decide to start paying you later. But the experience is what you will need to apply for permanent residence. ArtistA: |

I used bcie Lagos and I used five million sadly when I didnt need to call the Lagos office and try to speak to Angela and tell her u are sure to provide the six million or you might have to apply again all by yourself... uist: Hey bro Msc IT is good that's what I'm currently sturdying, most schools offer the course but I don't think untouched can get any cheap school in Australia... And scholarships are really difficult too from what I've heard, and it depends on the school some schools don't need Ielts but I think you will be needing that to apply for your visa (not really sure) for the sponsor part I thinks your guys must have the same surname. Then for job prospects Aussies don't need you masters degree but generally computer acience is a good course around the world... And for the 2.2 part your I think your gp matters |
