No fewer than 12 people were injured and about eight vehicles were vandalised on Thursday as supporters of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party clashed in Nasarawa State.
The incident, which started at the APC secretariat, occurred at about 1pm.
Trouble started when one of the vehicles on Alhaji Yusus Agabis’ convoy, one of the governorship aspirants in the state, who was on his way to the PDP secretariat, was allegedly attacked.
This was said to have angered some PDP supporters, who vowed to attack the APC.
The supporters reportedly pounced on a vehicle belonging to the APC, leading to a free-for-all, in which several people were injured and eight vehicles were vandalised.
The situation led to a heavy traffic on the Jos-Makurdi road, leaving commuters, travelling through Lafia to Makurdi, Enugu,Kano, Kaduna and Federal Capital Territory, stranded for hours.

Governor Ngilari admits his fears of Boko Haram overruling

ABUJA— Governor James Ngilari of Adamawa State, yesterday, cried out to
President Goodluck Jonathan to save his state from being overrun by Boko
Haram insurgents who have already taken over five local governments and are
advancing to other towns.
Governor Ngilari took his case to the Presidential Villa, Abuja on a day Boko
Haram renamed another town it captured as part of its Islamic caliphate. It also
commenced full enforcement of Sharia law in its areas of control.
President Goodluck Jonathan has, however, assured that in spite of the present
security challenges, Nigeria will remain unbroken even as he promised free
and fair general elections next year....
