can somebody tell me why wind turbines are not being used to charge inverters and why solar panels are still low class when it comes to power/wattage generated |

aslan:wind turbine needs more speed to generate required voltage to charge the battery, and when speed cannot be attain as a result of low wind, the output tens to be low in charging, also the same is apply to solar, if the plate are not many to accommodate the available sun the out will be poor in charging. |

Lovely thread and if I had seen this before buying perhaps I would have had a different purchase. I have a guaranteed 13 hrs supply of electricity and would like an inverter to last at most 10 to 11 hrs. Couple questions 1 - What are tips to watch out for while installing an inverter (either by a 'professional' or yourself) in your home? 2 - How good are Mopower inverters? Especially this one Mopower's 3.5 KVA (48V) inverter http://mopowersystems.com/inverters%203.5kva-48v.htm 3 - I have 4 12V 200AH batteries. I am concerned that I can only envision connecting them in series. For some reason, that rubs me off wrong. Update. Installed inverter and realised what was troubling me. 4 batteries in series = 1 battery. Also the guy didnt bring a battery equaliser. If you are installing more than 2 batteries in series, use a battery equaliser. Secondly be careful of techs that claim Su-kam is Mopower. I had to beat this one's head down with facts from the web and contacts. Thirdly get your own electrician who knows your house's circuits and wiring to be present. This helps as (i) the work gets down safer (ii) the work gets done safer and (iii) you get better peace of mind on what they are doing. My final question. I have a load of 1.5 kW that I would want to power for 10 to 11 hrs. I have a 3.5kVa inverter (48V) and 4 12V 200AH deep cycle batteries connected in series. How long would it last? PS Talking through how the answer is arrived at would be very helpful. I might want to play around. |

well done for the great work you guys are doing here, i have been enlightened alot. just have a question, what are the disadvantages (if any), in using trailer batteries, 150 or 200ah, instead of the regular inverter batteries. i am about to set up my sukam pure sine wave 2.4kva inverter, someone familiar with inverters says trailer batteries are good but may not last long, he even uses one, i saw it with my eyes. thanls for your quick reply. |

Inverter experts in d house,i nid a thorough breakdown of cost of inverter,battery and installation for d below appliances: 1 55inch 3D TV(dont know the consumption but am sure its low) 1 330W Homea Theatre 1 DSTV 1 Laptop Pls note dat my area uses abt 15hrs of lite daily so using a gen is kinda hard but my nid for d inverter is for d sake of cutting off on DSTV programs wen nepa goes off(u know hw d wife can be disapointd wen watching na). |
