freecocoa:The thinking that your body, brain and time should be monetised and paid for by the man is what makes u dependent. The man also shares the aforementioned with you, should he start demanding for stuff? It's not a man's job to provide u with a life u never had! That's your job and parents' to treat u better. The lady- OP who wanted her BF' car, can't afford to buy a car and her parents didn't give Her one. She should be mad at herself and parents not the boyfriend!! 2 Likes |

StealthyMe: Hey u! I tend to disagree with you on your point -'not requiring or relying on' depicts independency. Every human will definitely REQUIRE one bit of something(information, idea, suggestion, support E.T.C from another, each passing day. Requiring doesn't make you less independent it just simply establish the fact that 'no Man is an island' which infact simply means No one is self-sufficient.We all need to Rely on someone at some point in our lives. Be it the: Employer of labour/Employee Parent /Child Government /Citizens Lawyer/Client/Banker/Customer Man/Woman Indepency is not measured by the richness of your pocket to get all you need, (not possible though,as money in itself is also a means to getting something but doesn't get all things) or physical strength. It is measured by,but not limited to,your attitude, mayb thought as well through which, you know when to Require/Rely on and when not to and applying it to all areas of Life.Such as financial, morals, social E.T.C Independency is not limited to one angle just as this opinion of mine MAY NOT be Universal. |

An independent woman is one that can make good decisions, accept responsibilities for her actions, can cater for her materials need without relying solely on others. This doesn't means that that she is an island unto herself, rather, she only rely on others for companionship, comfort and social intercourse in other to derive the joy of humanity. |

Re: How Do You Define An Independent Woman?. by Nobody: 4:04pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
Its this simple. An independent lady is one who isn't keen about a man paying her bills and one who has a realistic ambition. |

freecocoa: Does he not share his body, his time, his brains his energy and his money with you? Why should not giving you a car be a big deal? Supposing you dnt end up getting married to him, will you return the car? Abi that one na your pension? Women and their reasoning. To me, i don't see how a man benefits more in a relationship than a woman. 3 Likes 1 Share |

freecocoa:What important things u talking bout as being shared? Is it sex? Or the moments shared together? Compare the value of those things with that of a car n see which is more valuable in terms of cost. A reasonable guy won't wana give out his car to his girlfriend who hasn't done anything that's added value to his life. Till d girl has done something of value for the guy before he can let out his priced possession to the girl. Having sex with or spending time with a guy doesn't entitle a girl to whatever the guy has. Until she has helped him in a way before she can be impliedly given access to his possessions. Most guys keep girls for just sexual pleasure and still call them girlfriend. U wudnt expect that kind of guy to put his priced items in2 her care. |

Re: How Do You Define An Independent Woman?. by adconline(m): 4:17pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
freecocoa:It's your thinking that most importantly your body , must be given stuff in consideration for the time u your spend with ur boyfriend is the problem. You obviously don't see anything wrong in a lady asking to have her BF's car when she in fact can't afford to have one or at least keep one maintained. When you imply that a guy is supposed to pay for S3X, which both of u enjoy, it replaces independence with trade by barter- old cliche- use what you have to get what u want. |
Re: How Do You Define An Independent Woman?. by kayustones: 4:20pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
Hmmm... Some men want to be respected by their wives but are not willing to sacrifice for or take good care of her. Well it's good for a woman to be hard working too but it's the responsibility of a man to make sure that is wife and children are comfortable. If u know that God as made u as a man the head of ur home then prove it. Ur wife doesn't have to struggle as much as u do b4 she enjoys the good things of life. |

adconline:Please be kind enough to read my other posts maybe that would help you try to understand it, there's no reasoning with you people when there's money involved, btw ladies like myself have given boyfriends money plenty times so I don't see the big deal in sharing material things with your significant other, if I were your girlfriend and had something you needed but I refused to give it to you yet won't stop saying I love you, I wonder what that makes me. |
Re: How Do You Define An Independent Woman?. by freecocoa(f): 4:28pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
adconline:You are the one who doesn't get it, the fact that you are more materially welloff than your girlfriend doesn't make you independent of her, one way or another you depend on her, the tables may even turn and she gets to help you monetarily, just what is the big deal in that? Abi una love na for mouth? I give up abeg. |
Re: How Do You Define An Independent Woman?. by StealthyMe(m): 4:35pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
buruike: Lol... You're absolutely right Independent actually means what i wrote up there...if you read my other posts, you will notice i said also that one cannot be independent in that context as we all require people in one way or the other to succeed. There are varying definitions of independence and can be interpreted based on their definition. |
