hold on till next year, no stock is good to buy at this time, except you want your #1 million to reduce to #4 hundread thousand within one month, or #1 hundread thousand to reduce to #40 thousand, wait for small time, buy at cheaper rate between middle of january and first week of february next year 2015, about sixty days from now. Buy times two unit of most of the companies share during that period than buying times one share now, best of luck.

You know, you've been going on and on about this, slowly turning it into conventional wisdom. We're dealing in a venture where probabilities and uncertainties are the order of the day. A large chunk of market participants are already on this DELAY/WAIT&SEE bandwagon.

I hope you guys are right. History says you're wrong though. You may come up with the point that this time is different. That's an argument for another day. Infact my current soft position on this matter is probably against that of some of my respected senior friends here, on SMN and other places.

My personal approach is to change with the weather of the markets, keeping your costs LOW as you proceed. The best way to survive in the markets is without hard & fast rules. As always, flexibility is key. The markets have always been forward-looking, and, more often than not, expectations deviate substantially from future realities.

Be Open. This is not some discipline of engineering with 200-year old equations.

The height of ignorance is when one expresses probabilities and uncertainties as gospel-truth, and confidently so.

"...the brazen pessimism of naysayers."

Oga Chibuking how did you come to the conclusion that no stock is good to buy. If you check the valuation of some mid cap stocks, you will see that their prices are gradually getting attractive, any further decline will only make them more attractive and make them strong candidates of an over 10% dividend yield. Some stocks were affected by the Bears more than others and some stocks have been in a bearish mood for quite a while now even when the market was still oscillating previously. Personally I expected the market to fall but I never envisaged that it will fall this much in one week and I doubt you expected it to fall this much. At the end of the day no one can predict the market with sure certainty. As I look through the happenings this week, Oga Dexterex's rule of flexibility and adaptivity in regards to the present market phase seems to come to mind as I strategize for my next move in the market.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Angelstartups(f): 5:58pm On Nov 08, 2014
Hello great house.
The Nigerian Stock Market is understandably on the bearish trend. First of all, Nigeria is dependent on Crude Oil meanwhile the price of crude oil has reached a 4_year low. This puts a lot of pressure on Nigerian economy (stock market inclusive), and affects exchange rate. When this begin to happen, many foreign investors will begin to cash out/ pull their funds away (selling off their shares).
Secondly, Nigeria is days away from general elections, this sends some funny perception to investors, they panic and sell off, Nigerian politicians also trade off for cash to fund their campaigns, this inadvertently increases stock supply and leads to price fall. Note:foreign portfolio investors make up a large portion of Nigerian Stock Market, therefore what they do largely affect others.
Lastly, the federal reserve just ended Quantitative Easing in the U.S, leaving foreign investors with reduced liquidity to leverage on.
If you want to invest right now, look to real estate (politicians are selling off as well).
The bear will continue for few more weeks (if not months), until
1) Oil Prices begin to stabilize or go up, (not likely this year)
2) After elections 2015
3) Exchange rate falls/ stabilises

Cheers.

If an announcement is made regarding the stock, your old broker will sell it at a faster rate. Watch out.

Whenever matters of life go beyond your imaginations, I know one man who is an unseen friend, the hope for the hopeless, and the redeemer of lost glory. Though, our humanity feelings keep us wondering fatefully and demonstrating that life is complex, life is tough, and life is impenetrable. Remember behind every successful moment, comes a lot of unsuccessful trying. Success is not final, and failure is not fatal but it’s the drive to continue that count. Sometimes in life you’ll feel like all of your trying is working against your wish, that’s OK. Never lose faith in your trying and knows that everything happens for a reason and that God’s plans for you are bigger than your own. Most importantly never stop dreaming and believing in yourself. Just like the rain makes you appreciate the sun, remember your temporary failures will make your ultimate success much sweetest. Don’t give up on your goal, keep trying and you will surely get there. Have a successful new week ahead. It is well!

It seems to me that some investors have not come to terms with the fact that the market experiences bubbles and busts and that if prices have risen up to a particular extent, some correction will take place at some point . This is just the way the market works,it goes up and then down and then up again. We should be careful not to treat the bearish market like a curse cos it is not. For the right thinking investor, this is the best time to strategize how to position for the next phase in the market.

If you are cash trapped cos you did not bail out on time, all hopes are not lost, you will need to come up with strategic ways to salvage the situation. If you have cash cos you bailed out on time, this is also the time to come up with strategic ways to best deploy that cash. Bearish periods to me are one of the greatest learning seasons in the market.

Whether you are in favour of the Bearish or Bullish period, it really might not matter much cos your strategy on how to handle both phases at the end of the day is what makes you a successful investor.
