Thank you ma, but i will also like to know if its ok to schedule the medical a week to my interview date, and also my police clearance i sent to NVC says its valid for 3 months and that will be at the end of this November but the NVC letter is stating that the clearance is valid for a whole year so am a bit confused here do i need to go get another police clearance when coming for my interview and also am i going to receive anything from the consulate in Lagos that i will be needing for my interview.

thank you.

Greetings! It should be okay to schedule the medical appointment a week prior to your interview date, but please do check with the panel physician. The police certificate is valid for one year, from our point of view. The best advice I can give you is to review http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html and http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html -- it's likely that all your questions will find answers there.

Dear VO,
I have really had my doubts about using this forum but my son won't let me rest. He said he has chatted here with you and believe you are a real VO. Don't blame my doubts. It's just that a lot happen online/internet these days.
I'm a US citizen, and filed for immigrant visa for my son (my only son and only child) he went for the interview and the consulate was "unable to issue a visa at this time due to insufficient documentation". Interview was on 10/27/14, case number LGS...042. DNA evidence was requested from us, I was in Lagos same time but no where to do same. I have since done the DNA test here in US and I believe it's at the embassy as I write. I understand mails have to be sorted but My questions are:

1. How long will it take before he is called back as time is fast closing up on him receiving benefits under the child citizenship act as he turns 18 December.
2. I was hoping We will celebrate thanksgiving, his birthday and Christmas together.
3. He obtained his police report late August, I hope he won't be asked for another.

I'm sorry if I am asking multiple questions, it's just that I am worried. Thanks a lot for your time!

smiley Don't trust anyone you meet online! The moderators here didn't believe me either, but then they checked out my bona fides and let me stay. You can always e-mail us directly at LagosIV@state.gov if you don't like online forums, too.

If we have the DNA results here and they're all right, he should hear from us in just a few days. I can't tell from your post if we needed anything else to finish processing his case, but if not, as soon as he drops off his passport, he should have his visa a week later. Again, it's possible that DNA results weren't the only item we were waiting for, though.

I can't promise you Thanksgiving -- it depends what else his case needs -- but we will try. As soon as I finish answering these questions, I'm going to process a whole stack of DNA results; I hope your son's are there! Adding later: I didn't realize until I read your son's message that he is still waiting for his sample collection. If that's the case, unfortunately, I doubt the case will be completed before his 18th birthday. He will retain the IR-2 visa category, however.

If his police report is dated Aug. 2014, it's good until Aug. 2015.

Hope this helps!

Hi VO, is the embassy still scheduling for Dec interviews. Also can an expedite get an early December interview. Thank you

We've already reached capacity for December appointments. But cases that qualify for expedited processing can still be scheduled in December.

Please note that we will be closed tomorrow (Nov. 11) in honor of the U.S. federal holiday Veterans Day. Per Wikipedia:

Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect). The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.

Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving.

We are still processing all the e-mails received over the weekend, so it may take a while for your contact sheet to be associated with your file. Every case is different, but yes, it is likely that the people listed on the contact sheet may be contacted.

There are many types of administrative processing; some are resolved in a matter of days, some take much longer. It depends on many factors. The more accurate and complete the information you provided in the contact sheet is, the more quickly we can use that information.

It is very difficult to expedite administrative processing, but if there is a genuine medical emergency, we'll do our best.

Ok ma thanks a lot ma.

Please one more question. What happens after the review is completed.

Hello VO, please I have an enquiry. My husband is a US citizen by birth and we've been married for 2years plus with two kids. We both reside in Nigeria. My husband tried transferring his citizenship to one of the kids but was denied because he has not been in the US consecutively for 5years, he has only been in the US for about 2years. So he is planning on petitioning for all of us. Was wondering if his non residence in the US will affect his petition? Since there is a part in the form where address of residence in the US is required. Also how can we make payment for the application from Nigeria. Thank you.

Every relationship is unique, so I can't tell you what your husband should bring to the interview. Also, if I did have a mental checklist of what I expected to see (which I don't), I would never make it public, because then everyone would bring exactly what I wanted to see whether their relationship were real or not. smiley The most important thing will be what your husband says in the interview.

We don't have a policy in place that allows beneficiaries to choose the officer who interviews them. I can tell you that no officer makes visa decisions based on personal likes and dislikes; if a beneficiary qualifies for the visa, he or she gets the visa. (We're not supposed to have personal feelings about that at all, but I admit to feeling happy all day when nice people get visas.) smiley

Helloo VO and everyone,

I see a lot of people talk about administrative processing due to insufficient materials like communication evidences, like u said no two cases are the same and rships modalities differ depending on the individuals involved and the CO decision is factored by different things. But I ask and wonder if accommodation is made for those subset who do more of calls, and with the evolution in technology some means of communication is kinda becoming outdated. For instance,I Cnt rmber emailing my husband, and he doesnot like Facebook or social media, and not too much a pix person,he doesnot like to chat if there is a need to discuss cos things are easily misunderstood via chat unlike calls, since I could just call, send sms, and he runs a very busy schedule and me with med school and exams,hv few video chats, now there is whatsapp,we chat, face time,bbm,--sites where extracting records of msgs isn't easy, and from dating, courtship now marriage has always been across the distance. Long distance rship has a lot of limitations such as this insufficient evidences that leads to administrative processing. Now the only chance of being together is still limited by the already existing limitation---distance. Although the consulate is being strict to fish out fraud but I humbly ask that all these be factored in especially for the subset of individuals whose rship have always Bn across the globe with less evidence like trips to the movies, dinner, vacation, frequent visits airfare(things are hard), For us is like "see u when we see". Thanks

Hello VO,
Someone was served with a removal notice for overstaying in the UK. She appealled to the immigration tribunal and won the case wherein the court declared the action of the UK home office as not in accordance with the law.

My question is does the person have to declear this when applying for a visa or the court judgement means the removal never existed so the person can say NO she was never ordered to leave any country? Thanks.

It is impossible to extend their visas. No Diversity Visas for the 2014 season can be issued or reissued after September 30, 2014. If the children don't travel by Dec. 15, you'll have to file immigrant visa petitions on their behalf.[/quote[color=#000000]

Dear CO,

I want to thank you so very much for having this thread. it is giving me so much more hope that I had a few days ago. Since my husband's interview all we do is go over how we could have gone wrong in this process. It is so discouraging when we know how much we are in love and how real and true our marriage is and yet we still can't be together. We have endured 16 months of filing and 2 years apart since marriage. I would have returned for additional visits, but I am mother's main caregiver when she is having bad times and struggling. Just 3 short months after my return to the U.S. my mother underwent major surgery for a crushing spinal cord and I am the one who spent 2 weeks in the hospital and then rehab facility taking care of her to make sure she was comfortable and in as little pain as possible. I don't have any other family members that will care for her in the way that I care for her, so that has kept me here in the states, and in the process sacrificing one on one time with my husband. My mother is now in outpatient rehab after almost 2 years post surgery, due to having returning complications. I am fearful to leave her for 10 days to make a trip to see my husband, but being apart for so long is just becoming so very difficult. In addition to that, I am beginning to experience my own medical complications and just miss my husband more than anything else.

We had an attorney in this whole process and clearly that has done us no good and has been a waste of money. In addition, it becomes very heartbreaking to see that other's get their visa's no problem, yet we are now struggling through this process. Our faith is strong, but I will admit this is extremely hard. If I plan a trip there at about the time we are to hit our 60 day mark, is it possible to come to the embassy for a status update? Would they even see me in hopes that we could share our story with them and allow them to see the love we have for each other? Is it typical that this process would take longer than 60 days? Will it even do any good for me to go up the embassy so as to not waste anyone's time and make this process more difficult on everyone involved?

In addition, my husband was asked to return on Nov 13th to get his second Hep series immunization. Is it necessary for him to get this second injection. I have explained to him that this immunization is time sensitive and he would have to start over here if he were to not get it done there. We are unsure of the policy, but he must continue to travel to Lagos from Ibadan, as he moved back in with his parents almost a year ago in an effort to spend this time with them, knowing he might not see them for some time.

Lastly, is it true that now that I am married to him I can get a lifetime Visa for travel to and from Nigeria for the purpose of visiting him and family members in the future? With so much misinformation out there we want to get it straight from the source.

It's hard to understand why we must suffer this stage of the process, but we will endure and we aspire to offer hope to other's in our situation. Thank you again kindly for all of your hard, selfless work in assisting those of us who really have no idea about all of this and learning our way through this process, feeling alone at times.

Sincerely,

nalacandi

Good morning,

As you suspect, you and your children will not be eligible to receive immigrant visas because your husband does not reside in the United States. The purpose of immigrant visa petitions is to reunite families, so in your case there's no reason for you and the children to have immigrant visas. If your husband relocates to the United States and establishes domicile there, at that point he can file for you all.

If she is ineligible under INA 212(a)(6)(E), attempted human smuggling, as a result of the false adoption document, she will only be eligible for the waiver if the person she was attempting to smuggle was her spouse or child. If her ineligibility is under INA 212(a)(6)(C)(i), material misrepresentation, she has a better chance of successfully applying for a waiver. With her history of falsification, she will likely have trouble convincing a Consular officer that she is a credible applicant, however.

Sincerely,

nalacandi

Without knowing which case is yours, it's difficult for me to answer. I can tell you that if you're not invited to come to an interview, it's not possible to show up and talk to someone. We aren't able to see people who don't have appointments.

I'm guessing that you're not Nigerian-American, as you write that you would need a visa to visit him here? If so, the best source for information about visas for non-Nigerians is a Nigerian embassy or consulate.

From a health standpoint, yes, your husband should get his hepatitis series! Even if he doesn't travel, it's good to be protected.

Hello Sir,
I submitted my I-129 document and got I-797 document from USCIS. I entered wrong option for Question:
Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the point of entry?
Actually,I got B1 visa refusal during 2011 March and got B1 stamping in 2012 and know I am applying for H1B and I selected No as option for the above question mistakenly instead of Yes and B1 visa refusal during 2011. Will my visa will get refused because of the mistake I have done. Please help me.

Thank You in advance
