I can't count the number of times I've missed flights. It got to a level that I thought it was becoming a habit. The most interesting thing is that I always wake up after each miss, hiss and murmur...'gaddem it! So it's only a dream' grin

Almost! It was on the 10th of October 2013 and l was to be on an 1.30p.m flight to Nairobi (Kenya) vis Ethiopian Airline. l woke up 4.30a.m that morning with the hope of leaving home at about 9a.m so l can also pick up my yellow card from the Port Health officials at Muritala Mohammed International Airport lkeja before boarding as l couldn't meet up with picking it up the previous day and l had gotten my yellow card same day in my previous travel.

lt seems like the devil and his in-laws came visiting me that day, the kind fever whey hit me that morning on top swollen gum l was already suffering from, l took everything that look like pain-killer...for where? lt was even suggested l should forget the flight as my health was more important. Me, dash Ethiopian airline my $780 ticket, no way!

As at 11.45a.m l was still stuck along Anthony heading to Oshodi, got to the Airport around 12.50p.m, people were already checking in, told my brother to hold my luggage make l go collect my yellow card, on getting to the Port Health department, it seems the entire Lagos was traveling that day and needed Yellow card! It was no longer the usual pay N1000 and collect the yellow card without any syringe touching your body. That day you must chop needle before that Yellow card touch your hand, the crowd there was crazy and my flight was being announced, see high blood pressure.

Rushed back to check in (l was the last person) l told one lady who works with the airline and was weighing my luggage that l neva get my yellow card she pitied me and said l should be bring N1.500 which l promptly handed over to her, l can not afford Kenyan immigration wahala for Nairobi. Within 5mins one guy came with a yellow card and filled my names in it and stamped it, Na so l collect yellow card! grin

The lady had 'unofficially' collected N9k for the excess 20kg luggage l was traveling with and na egusi, ogbono, uha etc which were being eagerly awaited for by their owners in Nairobi, they had to 'clear it' from me before they collected their soup things grin l thank God l did not miss the flight though l did not eat throughout the flight only water & juice because of my swollen gum angry

u get luck say no be ebola era definitely u for miss that flight. swollen gum, u kiss frog?

Helsinki is beautiful, but it will be foolish to compare it to even Prague in terms of aesthetic beauty, not to talk about other western capitals like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm etc. Helsinki is quite laid back, for a more relax life and is beautiful in its own settings.

However, you can google Helsinki online and see how it looks like on google image, google strret views and youtube.

Haaa Yes ooo. August 23rd 2014, aero contractor los- abj 2.45pm. I remembered that saturday. My 10mnt old girl(as at then) and I was to travel to abuja from lagos to visit hubby after 7 months of not seeing each other. Since our flight was scheduled for 2.45pm, I decided to leave the house by 11am believing that by 1pm, I should be at the airport. Well that was my own calculation, little did I know that lagos roads are unpredictable. I got into a cab from lekki and on our way going, we encountered series of traffic on the island. I started shivering, infact I begged God to clear the roads for me and my daughter. 12pm, I was still on the Island. Then the road got cleared, we encountered another one at oshodi bridge. I looked into my wrist watch, it was 1pm. I wasnt myself anymore, the cab man kept on assuring me that I wont miss my flight. By 1.30pm, we passed through airport junction. We encountered another traffic at the toll gate. Exactly 2.pm, we got to the airport. I immediately carried my girl and jumped out of the car. The driver droped my luggage and the drove off. I rushed to the aero contractor stand. I saw people on the line and also a tag los-abj but this time around, 4.45pm. I met the personnel at the counter and told them my flight is for 2.45pm and they were like, ''sorry madam, the plane just left''. I was like, ''it's not possible, it's just 2.15pm''. I begged them, i told them to consider my girl but they said there was nothing they could do. I also saw some persons begging and some even came after me. We were 7 that missed the flight. We were directed to their ticket desk. On getting there, we were asked to pay N7000 each. God, I was left with N1000 on me. I felt so stranded with a 10month old baby. I begged them, I told them I had no money but to them, there was nothing they could do. I was so helpless. I just didnt know if Im to cry. 1000 naira wont take me back home. I called hubby, I told him I missed my flight and I was told to pay N7000. At first he was angry, then he said I should get money from whosoever is coming on the same flight to abuja and he will refund the money when we arrive at abuja airport. Lo and behold, a young guy in his 20s walked up to me and asked if I missed my flight. I said yes and he said he missed his flight too. I told the guy I was stranded and that my hubby said I should get someone to pay that the money will be refunded on getting to abuja. The guy told me to join the line, he went straigt to the ATM, he withdrew some money and then gave me N7000. I thanked him like there's no tomorrow. I was given another ticket and I checked in. I went again to thank the guy. When it was time, we boarded the plane... The plane landed, I quickly got up so as to remind the guy that my hubby was waiting outside but the guy was no longer there. I got down from the plane, we were to be screened for ebola before we can pass through the arrival lounge. We were on a line, I looked for this guy, I didnt see him. After my daughter and I has been screened, I went out thinking the guy must be outside waiting for his money, he wasnt there. He left! Hubby came, helped with the luggages, asked of the guy who helped me. We looked for him but we didnt find him. I was shocked. N7000, just like that from a total stranger? Then I said to myself, he must be an angel. Hmmm with all this experience, I Swear I no go Miss my Flight Again!!!

Your story is soo touching. I always pity ppl coming to the airport from Lekki/Ajah axis. I have a friend who stays around LBS, he will always crash at a friend's place on the mainland a day before his flight, or leave home 5HRS before his flight. I hope the Lekki International Airport becomes a reality in our lifetime cuz I don't ever ever trust our Nigerian govt with their political promises.
