Seriously,it is only in Nigeria,the medical Consultants see themselves as small gods in the hospital.As such every dick and harry wants to become a consultant.Govt spends so much money on training Doctors.Other health professionals too feel cheated with this,they are jst like 'spectators' in the health sector.The doctors are being paid while under training and they stil want to collect specialist allowance after becoming consultants.The residency training shd be restricted to only teaching hosp and the arrogance being displayed by the consultants as being the alpha and omega of health sector shd be checked forthwith.

Onyebuchi destroyed the health sector and ran away. Now even the accountants shall become consultants and the laboratory technicians. The ordinary people will suffer cos there is no difference between LASTMA and Road Safety again.

Dis is of perfect timing. Understand dat we are all diff bodies in d health sector. No one will be infringing on d other as consultants. At least every health worker body can be a director and not assistant directors and also CMDs. We alws want to av hospitals like d developed countries but not recognizing others. Check out their consultations. D only same shd be d administrative part.

Pharmacists, if U want to cut out, no probs. I guess U'll just av ya own union. We aren't competing wt NMA's salary scale. But JOHESU's own was approved which led NMA into strike. And coz of dat d court overruled it, which is not fair. Our salary can't be same wt d drs but they must pay us wat they promised us.

A consultant is a final advisor or authority! Then will have many final authorities in management of same patients. The consultant doctor gives orders to the nurse to use honey to treat his patient but consultant nurse is oga too, so she says no, and tells junior nurse to use eusol!, who suffers? The patient.
The doctor prescribes a drug for the patient he has been managing for years, and the pharmacist only dispense, but know they will want to change the drugs because they are now final authority in pharmacy without even knowing the details about the patient!!!!!! Who suffers?
When you put stupid people in gov. You get stupid circulars, and NIGERIANS suffer. Why consultants now? It is because of the specialist allowance not because they know better than the doctor.
While it takes the doctor 4-6 six extra years to become specialist, these allied health worker want to call themselves specialist after 6 months CME.
Abroad, there are no consultant nurses or pharmacist in the HOSPITALS, they only work in elderly homes where there are no permanent doctors. So they call them consultants when pharmacist are called to monitor drugs.
