FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band – he could see it in his mind’s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man bythe window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window.

The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed.It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, ‘Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.

MORAL:There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can’t buy.‘Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present

Sir, base on my own personal opinion on flour mill, it is a buy opportunity for me. And I don't see any cause for worry by their prospective shareholders. That is my own opinion.

Brent just seen at 77.26 greenback, will OPEC's Nov 27 meeting save the plunge?

I don't think there is much you can do when you control 40% of production, not when your largest producer is ready to cut prices to retain market share.

Sir, I concur. The Dex and I argued so tey this morning about this. The Saudis learnt a few lessons in the 80's. They do not intend to lose said market share anytime soon.

My Oga, the warnings were for the good of all. What is happening now is a retracement and if you know what it means, it makes for good exit opportunity.

The thing here is that some people see beyond what you are told by the CBN, Ngozi and co. Until there is the hope of the oil price trending back up, all will not be well with your country. Think devaluation of the naira and its consequences on the equities market.

This market is still not going anywhere, look to start investing again from Q2'15.

It has not started and they are complaining https://www.nairaland.com/1995610/naira-now-172-naira-dollar/3

And this classic from a fellow soldier in the biz of hunting pips.

If you have cash, start hoarding dollars, by Jan-Feb Next year, naira to a dollar should be around N190-N220.

Nov 13 (Lagos) - Today was a unique day at the Nigerian Stock Exchange as the All Share Index rose sharply towards the end of trading when DANGCEM posted a rise of 10% and took the stock market from -1% to positive 1% in a matter of minutes. That's because DANGCEM is the most capitalized stock of the NSE and its movement dictates the movement of the stock market in Nigeria.

But the worrying signals are all over the place despite the late rally in stocks today. The price of Brent Crude Oil has declined to almost $ 80 a barrel today in London.

The Naira declined past 172 at the inter-bank window today. Most analysts now concur that Naira will see a significant devaluation within the next few months. Majority of people who voted in Easykobo opinion poll on the subject also reflect a similar sentiment.

So stocks somehow rose today in the middle of such negative news for the economy. The disconnect between economic reality and stock exchange was evident today. Stocks that rose 10% or almost 10% today are CADBURY , DANGCEM , TRANSCORP , IKEJAHOTEL and UNILEVER .

Crude oil stocks obviously fell with OANDO down 3.6%, FO down 2.4%, ETERNA down 4.73%, SEPLAT down 5%.

But be careful going forward because unless the Brent crude oil price rebounds this rally of today is going to be washed away tomorrow or next week.
