Dear VO,
It was with a heavy heart that I read the email sent to me about collection being scheduled for February 4th 2015. What a wait? Why the wait... very devastated and disappointed. I know I wrote an email requesting for everything I needed to do to help expedite my case as nvc said it was in lagos. I wish I was told to go do the DNA then and by now it'll be a wrap. Cos Its Seems That Practically Everyone That Filed FOR A Child Is asked for DNA. So why not ask upfront.
I understand that some unscrupulous things/pple have happened but the act of some bad ones shouldn't affect all. As I write this I got off the phone with my son who has been crying since he received the email. He has spent 1 year and half at home while all his mates have gone to college. Not because I can't afford to put him college in nigeria but because it doesn't make sense shoving him in and out when his visa is ready.
Sounds like I am throwing a tantrum but I'm sure u understand my plight. This is my one and only child. It hurts. Thank you for all your help and for reading

I'm sorry we can't see your son earlier. We process as many DNA cases as we can every week, and unfortunately the waiting list is substantial. There is no way to let your son jump the queue without disadvantaging someone else who has been waiting longer.

USCIS suggests DNA only in cases in which the documentary evidence is too weak to approve a petition, let alone adjudicate the case. (Petition approval is the easy part, as "petition approval" means only that the necessary documents have been filed. It's not an evaluation of the bona fides of the documents or the relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary -- that part is done at post.)

I wish I had better news for you. It's a frustrating process, I know.

I'm sorry, but expediting a case means that it's accepted for the earliest possible initial appointment; after that, in the absence of an actual emergency, the case is processed like any other case. Again, I know this is frustrating, but we will be glad to see your son in February.

It depends how long your laboratory takes to process the tests. Mail to and from the labs takes less than a week, and then it takes us a week at most to process the results and contact the families once the results arrive here. I hope yours arrive soon!
I want to know if there will be a second interview? after the embassy gets the results of the DNA test. Thank you.

If DNA results are a match and that was the only piece of information we were waiting for, we generally don't require a second interview. Instead, we contact the beneficiary and ask him / her to drop off his / her passport (and any updated documents such as medical reports), so we can print the visa. smiley

during my interview the only area i feel the CO asked for DNA was wen he asked why my husband has not visited for almost 4yrs and i answered that he dint have the time because of the nature of his job, he's a correctional officer. The CO started typing on his system, left his seat for awhile came back and requested for DNA. I believe you'll know him. He looks Chinese. Here my case No LGS2013733013. Please ma'am help me check if there's any piece of information asides the DNA test. Thanks ma'am.

I review all the cases, and from my perspective the officer handled that case appropriately. If he didn't ask for anything besides DNA, that's likely the only piece of information he's waiting for.

Hello consular,
am new to the forum. Kindly assist me pls in ur advise
My fiancé filed for a K1 visa for me and my daughter in 2009 but we had a fight and in our second appearance at the U.S. embassy I was told he stopped te application. 4 years later we got back together and this year2014 he wants to invite me to visit him first .
My question
1.is does he av to write the embassy of our reunion or
2.should we assume they no longer have my denied application in their achives
3. He is saying he doesn't want to open up an already forgotten issue by the embassy if they no longer make reference to it
I work now and earn a gud income and my daughter schools in Nigeria as well. Pls advise me accordingly. God bless u

Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by JASM: 5:50pm On Nov 14, 2014
Hi VisaOfficer,

I am new to nairaland and have been monitoring this thread for a couple of weeks now before joining. I never thought I would have to post on here asking for assistance, but at this point I don't know what to do.

I'm writing this post with a very heavy heart and much sadness. My fiancé had his K1 interview at Lagos this morning 11/14 and we didn't expect things to turn out the way that they did. We felt that our case was strong and I sent along many forms of proof to ensure that it showed (phone records, pictures, a couple emails, copy of boarding tickets, hangout call log, etc.). However the officer that interviewed him didn't feel that we had enough proof. He made mention of us not having enough phone records and pictures, but I supplied at least 4 months worth of call records (from Oct 2013 - before we applied for the K1 visa through about September/October of this year with all calls to both parties highlighted) and both call logs from my cell phone provider as well as from Boss Revolution (Boss Revolution showed additional months worth of calls). I'm also camera shy and have never liked taking pictures, but I sent what I had. I have scenic pictures from my time in Nigeria but I didn't feel like those would matter. I would have definitely sent more call logs across each month had I know that wouldn't be enough because we talk just about every day and the phone is our main communication.

Also, when my fiancé was younger he went to the embassy with his mom and younger siblings for a scheduled interview. Only his mom was interviewed, the kids were not, but the case was denied. And so when he was asked on the DS-260 whether he had been denied a visa before he said no because he personally never applied for one nor had been interviewed for one. We definitely misunderstood that question and had we known that it was considered a visa denial for him we would have definitely answered yes. He was young at the time of that case and didn't understand all that was going on.

I'm not sure what the status of our case is at this point. From what I understand he wasn't told it was denied, but I don't think it was approved either. When I check the website it says "Administrative Processing" which I know is the status of the case after the interview. If possible, would you mind checking on our case when you have a moment to let me know the decision reached by the consulate? LGS2014774001.

I'm hoping for guidance in either way the decision has gone. We are willing to take whatever the next steps are, but at this point I don't know who I should be contacting. I apologize for the lengthy entry and I look forward to your reply.

Thank you

Hello good afternoon to you ma,

My name is Mrs Flora Jean Olasupo a US Citizen and a petitioner of a Nigerian spouse, I am very new on here my husband asked me to join the forum to read people's Immigration experiences or in case I have any questions so this will be my first question on the forum, I called NVC last night 14th November and I was told our case is complete but I will like to know how soon he will get a date this is our case number (LGS2013560001) because am planning to travel there during his interview or before, the waiting period is really killing me, I've been crying so much lately I am missing my husband so bad. I was even planning to move there with him or we move somewhere else but now that our case is moving forward we will have to suspend that, the attorney we hired wasted our time and money but we withdrew them anyways so we want to do the final stage ourself. thank you very much ma I will be looking forward to your answer.

Good evening ma. I have been following your thread for a while now finally got the confidence to post lol I want to thank you for your work here on NL from all i have read you really are a huge help to visa applicants worldwide. I came across your thread while trying to find info on the visa process i honestly didn't think the consular officers were allowed to discuss visa issues outside the embassy i thought it was "forbidden" lol well my fiance applied for the k1 visa for me and we got our noa2 September 18th my case number is LGS2014758022. We were asked to get our medicals and police certificate ready before the embassy in Lagos contacts us i am scheduled to do the medicals the 24th and we already have the police certificate. My question is what is our status currently, i am curious and somewhat worried too. thank you Ma for your response.

This I must say its a trailblazing act by the titan woman and the more enlightened once who are helping we green horns on this application of K1 visa n who have selflessly put it upon themselves to help two hearts that beat as one reunit. Well I have something Ma'm and people who are more enlightened than I am on this, that's bothering me and that is what are the documents, both supporting documents to be submitted for K1 visa by the beneficiary. I would want to apply next year. Thank you Ma'm. And do I have to also get my account statement? Please I wish I could be helped here.

Hi Pepson,

My personal opinion: I wouldn't worry about getting an attorney at this stage. Filing a waiver application (the I-601) is pretty straightforward. Of course, it's a personal choice, and getting an attorney isn't going to hurt; it's just not really necessary.

HELLO!!! VO,JUST TO GREET!!!!

If his police report is dated Aug. 2014, it's good until Aug. 2015.

Hope this helps!

Mam, I just hope we don't get you tired with our questions ... Many Thanks for your selfless service is all I can say...

I want to take this your above words as a go-ahead to get my police certificate next month even though my K1 case is still pending at USCIS (its over 4 months now thou). I intend to get this ready due to my work schedule which wont permit me have all the time to do all these within a short time because I work in PH and have already spent my annual leave and till November 2015 before I will be due for another one so I think since the Police certificate will last for 1 year as against the 3 months on it. Pls is advisable I do this cos I will have opportunity of going to Lagos for a Friday next month.

Thanks once again
