Itsekiri Leaders Seek President Jonathan Resignation by bappahman: 9:41pm On Nov 16, 2014 |
Itsekiri leaders today demanded the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan as well as Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State following what the leaders described as the inability of the duo to curtail “rampaging ex- militants” who seized the Delta waterways and prevented the much-awaited groundbreaking of the $16billion Export Processing Zone Project. The leaders of the tribe said if President Jonathan couldn’t curtail the ex-militants whom they claimed the President had spent billions of tax payers’ money in rehabilitating, then he is not fit to rule Nigeria because, according to the sources, he is easily frightened by a “threat from Tompolo.” “It is the responsibility of every sitting President and Governor to ensure that they are not cowed by threats; otherwise all manner of groups will rise up every now and then and keep on threatening them. Therefore, if a President keeps on succumbing to threats by his own people and he cannot curtail them, then he has goofed up and should resign as it is done elsewhere in the world,” Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, a formidable group of national and Diaspora groups of Itsekiri leaders said in a statement. Governor Uduaghan is from the Itsekiri tribe, while President Jonathan is an Ijaw from Bayelsa State, the only 100% Ijaw State in Nigeria. Specifically, the leaders said that Ijaw ex- militants have demystified Governor Uduaghan who, according to them, had boasted in the media that no one can stop the President’s scheduled flag-off of the multibillion dollar project. The leaders said that they are surprised over the failure of President Jonathan to commission the groundbreaking due to the threat from Ijaw militants mostly of Gbaramatu Kingdom. Rising from its emergency meeting, the group headed by Pa. JOS Ayomike, a historian, said it is unfortunate that Jonathan didn’t heed their warning to ignore “baseless” threats of war, rather, he “pitched his tent with his Ijaw warlords and did the wrong thing.” In a statement the Itsekiri leaders said the Itsekiri people, Nigerians and indeed the world now know that President Jonathan is pursuing an Ijaw agenda. “This agenda is to exterminate the Itsekiris in their God-given land but we will resist it and we will never be intimidated by threats of war and genocide against our people . “We have repeatedly called on our Ijaw brothers, including President Goodluck Jonathan, to build bridges across ethnic divides not only in the Niger Delta but in Nigeria. But alas! President Jonathan has by this action joined the Ijaw militants in building fences among the ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta and Nigeria. And time will tell the outcome,” the statement said. The Itsekiri leaders therefore said that the Itsekiri nation, with the various treaties they entered into with the British, would push for secession if Jonathan and his Ijaw people continue their “agenda to exterminate us.” According to Pa Ayomike, “Itsekiri as a nation is protected by the British crown , and so we will go to the international court and push for secession.” According to the Itsekiri leader, “Jonathan has been intimidated by the “militants” and he is dancing to their tones; that’s why the flag-off was stalled otherwise the Ijaws have no basis for this agitation . “The EPZ project which is completely situated in Ogidigben is in 2.560 hectares entirely within Ogidigben; so let the Ijaws tell us the name of their community within this landmass,” Ayomike said. “He maintained that “it is a shame that the militants have demystified Uduaghan, he is irrelevant and useless to us. Let him resign like others do around the world when they goofed. Uduaghan is now a nobody in Delta because Jonathan no longer listens to him as the chief security officer of the state, the militants now have Jonathan’s ear more than Uduaghan.” 4 Likes |

And now we have a full blown disaster in our hands: a clanish wimp for a president!! When Baba said he is clanish and ethnocentric, he was called all manner of unprintable names, now even his own brothers have re-echoed Baba's sentiments while calling him an easily frightened coward at thesame time!! This man is absolutely unfit for the stool he occupies!! How could a president who commands an entire army be pushed around by gun wielding criminals like this?? God forbid he's not kicked out in 2015. God forbid! 12 Likes |

Ijaws in delta state are immigrate to delta state, their state of origin is Bayelsa state.. they should ask their parent.. They are not from Delta state. they are from bayelsa state.. Why do you think the satellite picture shows less people.. in bayelsa state.. The fear of Gowon was the beginning of Wisdom those day because Nigeria government ban the video of the Independent day of the country of the Kingdom of Western Nigeria from television for 50 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeoHA_IyLgs&list=UUb87BDP4HGsiqBllDwiejIQ

When $hit finally hits the Fan; What usually happens? I don't think On a normal sense, anybody hates GEJ personality, what people hate is his total disconnect from every day realities facing Nigerians, iMean the real people in the rural areas, TOTal "Wireless" Disconnect(if Yøu will my choice of word) ....This type of Inept Leadership is what causes problems all over the country from nowhere like what's happening between the two Communities "Ilaje Vs Itsekiri" A Govt needs to be Proactive... Don't just sit in Abuja, and be relying on what those so-called Ministers of yours are saying to you. Nonetheless, "iDon't know if he(GEJ) really sits down and ask'd himself; what's really going in all the remote L.G.As" ? It is not about sitting in the comfort of Aso Rock from Jan -To- Dec, It is about taking two steps forward, get some people to go round the Cøuntry to see if the Govt is making Impact like what's happening in other developed Countries.. That's what being a "LEADER" is 3 Likes |

Demanding the president's resignation by his own people at this time doesnt really make sense. They should let him exhaust his cluelessness to the end. His dreaded militant brothers are waiting to unleash chaos in the creek when he arrives back in Otuoke comes 2015. 2 Likes |

phlemzy: The problem is that he want to smuggle another 4 yrs of Clueless Policies. People like King Sarowiwa bled and died to bring attention to environmental challenges of the Niger Delta Region. Jonathan has been President for 6yrs, there is nothing on ground to show as his plans in cleaning up the region and developing them. All Jonathan care about is paying his boys, boko haraming and massive corruption. 2 Likes |

GEJ bin swayed by threats from militants has set a very baaadd precedence n shows him up as weak n clannish n unable to build the bridges a multi ethnic entity like d Nigerian state needs. It's unfortunate he doesn't realise his brand of leadership is planting seeds of division all over d place n now more than ever, peoples loyalties are more along Tribal n Ethnic lines rather than to the Nation n dis trend does not portend good f d country. Hoping he gets t puberty soon share b4..... |

Thank God the journalists are free and out alive. History is there for us to learn from but sadly we hardly visit the history archive to consult about the past. It is a well known fact that it is because of things like this that lead to the warri crises in the past. By now one would expect things like this not to have repeat itself but for where. For the sake of peace and successful take off of the project the governor should have in the first place carried the two tribe along. The ijaws are claiming that the epz pass through and occupied more of their land than the itsekeris all they want is for that fact to noted and accorded what is due them. Shake my head to read such a comment coming from an elder who suppose to be suing for peace and peaceful co existence of all tribe in warri like the old days. Blamed Jonathan na you sabi, curse him, call him name na una sabi. The man did the right thing by staying away. He hasn't finished battling with boko haram and you people want him to open his eyes down and allowed another one abi? To all the youths in and from delta its time you people put on your thinking cap and sue for peace among yourself. Am sorry to say this " not everything our elders talk we must accept hook line and sinker. Let try and find out truth for ourselves and let truth prevail no matter the cost, at the long run we will all be happy for it. God bless Nigeria 2 Likes |
