aljharem: He also doesn't av a point, it isnt abt Christians or Muslims bt abt d Nigerian languages. There's no Christian language on any Naira note so y d arabic? The three major tribal languages re written to help pple knw hw much they're holding n then, d English equivalent is also put to help d general citizenry. There's isnt any justification for d arabics on our Naira notes. 2 Likes |

Idrismusty97: was a referendum done to say Hausas prefer the arabic to hausa? will the berom, tiv, jukun man prefer arabic? i fear you are generalising o. meanwhile, CBN/FG owes it to us, to give reasons why the arabic inscriptions were removed. i think this is part of the bigger question of Arabic becoming an official language. The analogy with english doesnt hold cos english is our first official language and is not a christian language in any way. hebrew, latin yes. english no. 1 Like |

Nice move! We got nothing whatsoever to do with Arabic! The fact that all suicide bombers r one way or the other linked to it , is even the more reason we should get rid of it ! #GEJTILL2019haterscanhate! 1 Like |

holatin: unfortunately you don't seem to be knowledgeable. assignment for you too. go to the streets of Lagos, Abuja, warri, Kaduna , even Chibok and ask an average Nigerian to interpret that STRANGE LANGUAGE and see for yourself. I've done the survey so I'm writing from an informed perspective. |

That means we may need to remove symbols like wigs used by judges in court, also, we should remove the eagle symbol in the coat of arms because they all have roots in the church. |

Re: Hausa Ajami/Arabic Inscriptions Removed From New N100 Note by Ochek: 6:30pm On Nov 17, 2014 |
jude33084: It's only because the Muslims from the north think them own the land and so feel threatened by the removal of the inscription which bears no consequences on the majority of we'll meaning Nigerians. We already have the Hausa language on our currency I seriously wonder what the fuss is about. No doubt, BH is gaining more followers than I thought. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Seun and mods Correction: It is not an 'islamic' script but an arabic script which makes it easier for the uneducated who can read the arabic to identify the note. That was the wisdom behind the script. The script itself has nothing to do with islam. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Not everything should be viewed with the religious eyes. I believe the Ajami script was on the old Nigerian pound before the it was changed to naira. And it represents the indigenous writing language before the arrival of the Brits. The Ajami script was a west African writing language, and I think it originated from Timbuktu in the mid century. Also, the Hausas have written documents in Ajami dating back to the 18th century or so. So I don't see why you lot have a problem with an indigenous way of writing to be honest. I might be wrong but a lot of you have got ya priorities wrong. 4 Likes |

vedaxcool: fail! Denominations are identified by the design and arabic numerals on them, no one would pick up the naira and read the letters on it, no one reads ''one hundred naira'', but identifies '100', Awolowo and the reddish tint of the note. How would not having an inconsequential phrase on the Naira make Aljami go extinct? |
