jude33084: I am against it because it is just religious discrimination and publicity. The Official Language of the Christians is Hebrew actually.. Why can't the Gov put Hebrew on the Notes? The official Language of the Muslims is Arabic. Why is Arabic on the Note? Arabic is not the official language of the country neither is it a language of any ethnic group in the country so it should not be there. Period! 1 Like |

Is Nigeria an Islamic nation? Who inserted the inscription in the first place? A good development and a strong message to the people of northern Nigeria. |

vedaxcool: This is the point we are stressing. The North & South have nothing in common. The North does not want English but the South does. The South does not need Arabic but the JANJAAWEED North does. We should go our seperate ways (OIL OR NO OIL) because we aint one & same people......period 3 Likes |

This issue is just a simple one! Arabic is never a Nigeria language. Those canvassing for it as a language understood by most people in the North are doing that with selfish religious sentiments without a fair consideration of many other minorities in the north that do not understand Arabic because the do not learn it. We are well aware that most Muslims learn arabic at early age which aids their understanding of the Quaran but this is not so across the north. Northern Nigeria is rather more unified by the Hausa language which cuts across ethnicity and religions. Therefore inscribing Hausa language is more unifying and increases the no of people that will understands whatever message is being passed across on the currency. Additionally, it is better to avoid everything that would tilt Nigeria towards any religious prejudice now, if anything is to be inscribed on Nigeria currency, let it be the official local and major languages recognized in Nigeria! |

resty4: This is a very serious and grave allegation. I'm afraid the writer has exclusive rights to his observations. The Question here should be... "Does the North and the South have to be together in the first place"? There is a lot of intolerance of one region to the other. If you ask me, I would say this is not fair to the hausa speaking people even tho I'm not hausa.. Then that brings us back to question of our unity and continue co existence.. Let them liberate people. Let them free people up. People that can't Tolerate themselves shouldn't be joined together in an uÑholy Matrimony as Nigeria. Intolerance leads to hate, hate leads to violence, violence leads to death. At a time when the country is going thru so much unrest, I must confess this policy is ill timed, it could even have malice and prejudice, it could have intent and delibrate attempt at calumny. Let this 100 naira not spark unrest, there is already enough to deal with in the North-east. I don't support removing of Hausa or Arabic from our currency except if you now tell me the South is now independent of the North as in "South Sudan aÑd Sudan" You see, if Nigeria is going to break up, there is no need for so much pain and if nigeria is going to remain as one entity, there also is no need for this so much crisis. People should sit to talk. That National Conference was just a hoax. The real people that should be speaking haven't spoken. The real stakeholders haven't been represented. The complete Nation must come to a halt, fixed then started again and this time headed for glory. I'm afraid Nigeria as she stands today is heading for disaster. 1 Like |

I was born I grew n lived there for long(kano to be specific) just 2012 we finally relocated to SE(imo).. when I see some ignorant posts of people defending hausas(especially muslim hausas) and claiming they're not bad I just shake my head. cos the senseless killing is much. I've never talked about it on NL untill the day I feel like. people really need to say things the way they are, not saying things inorder to feel special or to be accepted by those who will kill you if you by any means fall into their trap. I pity y'all who are in SW,SE,SS and the rest who keep ars.selicking these northern muslims.. i don't hate them I've hausa frienda but...... 4 Likes |
