However an industrial Physics graduate can be employed in d Oil and Gas sector especially by servicing firms in areas like Measurements/Logging While Drilling (MWD/LWD), Wireline and Slickline operations and even in HSE as a Radiation Control/Management personnel.

Studying just 1 Geophysics course at 300 level does nt make u a Geophysics Graduate.

However, u can go for Geophysics at M.SC level Since u are so much interested in Geophysics.

I say this because i am in my final year at uniben studying industrial physics and we have just two courses in geophysics no separate geophysics discipline unless in MSc i hope to work in the o&g sector someday. I even went for the HSE and did some computer courses from what I've researched so far i was thinking of doing sth in drilling next year but its better to be informed that's why i asked. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks again.

U dnt need all those certifications yet. All you need do is concentrate on ur final year school work and ensure u graduate with a minimum of 2:1.

My brother, in Nigeria of today u dnt put all ur eggs in one basket. With ur degree in Criminology and security studies u can work any where as long as u have a good grade. However, I think I have seen some oil companies looking for Firensic experts. I guess ur course is related to Firensic studies right?

Most oil companies recruit experienced security coordinators / advisors/ experts with the exception of Shell which recently started recruiting trainee security advisors.
I will advise you to focus on gaining experience. It doesn't matter where. Experience in security field is more valuable than certification. They may be some certifications in the field but I'm not aware of any. I will try and find out.
But gaining experience in various aspects of security coordination - security management of personnel, logistics, transport, facilities, inventory stock etc should be your top priority.

There are simply too many safety professionals itching to join the oil industry. When supply is higher than number required, then you really do not have much demand. Many see safety as one of the easiest way to break into the industry, thus there is abundance of professionals with valid safety certifications. Besides, any experienced oil and gas worker can easily move to safety.

Petroleum economist is not a highly demanded role to the best of my knowledge. I wouldn't advise anyone to go for it cos it doesn't offer any specialized and unique skill. With sufficient experience, a petroleum engineer can easily be a petroleum economist.

Accountants are in hot demand all over the world, particularly tax professionals.

Wow. i must say u are doing a lovely thing here. but pls i am an HND graduate environmental technology (Strong lower credit) with d mandatory safety certifications(level 3 and general hse) from ISPON but i av not been able to secure even a voluntary job just to acquire experience in any of those coy. even d so called environmental consultancy coy had on several occasions turned me down. on one occasion i can remember one even telling me i was a fool just because i submitted a c.v in her firm.D stories im being tld is that i should chill.i dont know if im getting it wrong wth d certifications i have. anybody in d house to advice me pls?

Eerrr... but bros, why did the person call you a fool? Thats kinda extreme. Did you try to find out? Was it because of your CV, maybe it wasn't presentable? Something about your approach? However d Woman has been a saucy person but i neva knew infact she exhibited it to one of her I.T. department staff right in my presence. i neva knew she will bounce on me also. i was even begging her for a voluntary job of which she denied me bcis she said dey are being paid for d work dey do for dia clients. even internship she denied me also. perharps she took d advantage of me being a fresh graduate and thout i was without value. But we go Jam one day probably @ d top.

So there is no way we can give a training that is not rich in practical experience.

Your post smacks of a deliberate de-marketing attempt and I would advice you to desist from such. If u have in mind to project another company, there are better ways of doing that.

i think if u read wat i posted "strong lower" u shud b sensible enuf to know something wud a gone wrong for someone on upper credit to fall on strong lower bsides she neva even asked for d grade neither wad she ready to rrad through d c.v. dats by d way.
I only submitted d c.v @ her office and cald to confirm if d c.v had gotten to her table and she tld me to start coming not knowing she hadnt scaned through d c.v self.
its true she said she needed an experienced person @ dat time however i neva pleaded for her to collect me by force i only needed a voluntary job or internship.

Meanwhile I'm a 400 level student of mechanical Engineering with a good grade, though not first class. Having gone through this thread I'm kind of in a fix, based on my current age I would have been through with school, served n have my Masters degree at 25, but considering the requirements of Graduate trainee programs I think I may not really fit in again at that time as the highest age I saw for the last one was 24, please sirs what should I do, advice needed thanks.

Please go ahead with your plan. You will still get opportunities as a 25 years old masters degree holder in mechanical engineering.
The issue of age barrier is less prevalent with engineering jobs. However, you can consider working and gaining valuable experience first after your BSc program before proceeding with your MSc study.
