Honestly the French GIAT 30mm cannon is the best but I will avoid a western made weapon and recommend eastern bloc armaments.

I hope we can sustain it, and replace the Otokar with these. I've got High hopes with the coming on stream of the Automotive plan. Build an amphibious variant, a recovery variant and an ambulance variant.

We need to use it to replace Otokar Cobra. We need many variants, as many variants as Otokar Cobra has.

All Nigerian military, para-military, police, and intelligence/security services need Igirigi with armament and variant according to their level of threat and role.

Maybe in the next 5 years, FG should pump money into Igirigi, the market demand at home is large. my estimates

Prices usually does not include armament, you mount whatever you want as long as vehicle can carry and fire the weapon within vehicle's technical capacity limits

A 30mm won't be a good idea on the Igirigi. I do not believe it's suspension can handle that sort of a power.

I agree on replacing the Cobra with the IGIRIGI, but I disagree with militarising our security services.

F.G should sell the blue-prints to the over 22 vehicle assemblers/ car component manufacturers in Nigeria. F.G cannot successful run a road side kiosk, they'll sooner or later eventually run the place down.

There are other LAV manufactures in Nigeria, Proforce alone has 3 plants in Nigeria (Abuja, Ogun and Port-harcourt). They would also need to be accommodated by F.G.

My opinion, sell the rights to this vehicle, bank of industry provides loans to fund the project, F.G provides tax breaks like they do, and place orders for at-least 1500 vehicles for the Army.

250 vehicles for each region. Place additional orders for the leopard ACV, still for the Army.

Police = IGIRIGI, PF 2 MK II, PF2 MK 1( 500 vehicles)
DSS = Armoured buses and station wagons.
Immigration = A mix of Igirigi, PF2 MK II, PF2 MK 1 (500 vehicles)
Airforce = a mix IGIRIGI, Leopard ACV (250 vehicles)
Navy = IGIRIGI, Leopard ACV ( 250 vehicles).


Until we've satisfied our own demands, we can then look for west and central african markets.

I don't think replacing the Otokar Cobra is a good. I suggest it's still retained and used as standard troop transport along with the Igirigi. Or, like the VBL, used as a recce vehicle for armoured units. But we need to get those soft skinned Hilux and Rangers off the front lines.

Its not possible to fully replace the hilux vehicles with the Igirigi..but its a good place to start..its more economical than the needless "Bigfoot" MRAPS...but it still doesn't solve the MAJOR problem that the N.A is facing in the N.E..which is insurgent AAA mounted technicals..its high time we begin to build a cheap IFV; small, highly mobile and fitted with a 30mm cannon..exclusively for combat.

Why do you want the weaker block's round. The best in use 30mm round used on a AFF are western (or south african)

Any case I think nigeria chose the right 30mm. You don't need a big gun. Bigger the round the less rounds you can cary. In fact I would say a 20x139mm round is a better choice or maybe even a 20x102mm round. BH does not have IFV or any thing that needs a big 30mm. You want lots of ammo a HE effect and a high rate of Fire. The small blast of the 20mm is compensated by the fact you can fire more rounds.

Depends on the round. But you could mount a low reciol 30mm firing half chargerd rounds. Or you can can follow SA and mount some MG151 20s that fire 20x84mm rounds at 750rounds per min. Sure you won't kill any IFV but you will shred Toyats. The MG151 is light enough that the Speciol forces Hornet can carry them.

Excellent point on the AAA mounted technicals. But won't the insurgents still have an edge in terms of mobility, cos IFvs tend to be heavier compared to these technicals?

Very true..from what I've seen from BH's videos, their gameplan is pretty simple..
1. Overwhelm N.A positions with Zsu-23-2s and ZPU-mounted guntrucks.
2. Crazed insurgents in Dshks and other 14.5mm HMG flank N.A positions at ranges the N.A's heaviest MG (M2 Browning) 7.62x51mm shell can't answer to.
3. Foot soldiers storm positions using RPGs to supress N.A defences.
4. N.A military installations siezed, insurgents resupplied with captured ammo.
5. Insurgents fan out and establish ambush points for N.A counter-attacks.

The insurgents have something the N.A doesn't have..FIREPOWER and MOBILITY..AMISOM forces are having a field day in Somalia most likely because they don't face the amount of firepower the Nigerian Insurgents possess..
The way foward for the N.A.
1. Induct 500-800 Zsu-23-2 mounted guntrucks..to be spread across N.A battalions.
2. S.F teams introduced to designate targets for N.A artillery.
3. Total N.A retreat from territories that hold no strategic significance..for manpower to be injected in offensive operations.
4. Launch massive operation to retake territories with newly inducted technicals leading, Steyrs and IGIRIGIs providing infantry mobility,Toyotas for logistics support while M-2 mounted Otokar Cobras and VBLs outflanking insurgent positions..all with Artillery shells softening insurgent defences.

One by One, with each operation, captured territories will be liberated..the tactic of establishing FOBs across such a massive front is a recipe for ambushes..Since the NAF can't offer the necessary support, the N.A has to begin to demand more from its officers and men.

There was and is still no proof of T72s in nigeria. There are 2 T84s in nigeria there for trails since no one buys only 2 tanks.

You're right on the money on isolated FOBs. Hence my for transport helicopters and additional attack helos + fixed wing multi role combat aircrafts that can carry a decent payload and can loiter on target for longer periods.
