mzilakazi: Source said earlier Bofors production have been upgraded , only you selects India as the only upgrade, you left out Nigeria and Sweden to satisfy your fraudulent desires. over 90% of SANDF G-6 artillery are in storage according to defenceweb . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 8:02pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
agaugust: All the batteries that use the G6 are reserve force though. |

agaugust: they can use radar from LINKZA, you already know that by now. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 8:33pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
zaandrew: Upgrades are not recorded by arms sales logs. Details are usually scanty or zero, nobody knows what parts were upgraded on NAF Alpha jets avionics or NA Styer APC. Can't probe details that are not published, all we have published is that upgrade was done, don't add or subtract from it. Leave it as it is. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 8:38pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
ActivateKruger: Communication data link is a telecoms interface not a targeting pod for firing weapons on a target that is locked on. Stop fooling around. SANDF data link has NEVER been proved to work operationally, it only exists on paper like Mokopa ! . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 8:38pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
agaugust: But you boaught after the upgraded guns where up and ready. Ay case you have zero proof of a upgrade so lets go with no upgrade. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 8:40pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
zaandrew: Nigeria bought last batch of Bofors around 2003 . Army guide said earlier production was upgraded by users, we go with that. Simple . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 8:43pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
agaugust: What upgrades though, there are many upgrade option. Changing to a new version is a major upgrade and would get a mention. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 8:43pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
zaandrew: Does not change the fact that over 90% of G-6 artillery is in cold frozen reserve. If you live in a glass house don't throw stones . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 8:51pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
agaugust: Means that there units are not activate but the guns are kept ready. Those not in storge are used for training those in storge are the ones used for war, they are thus kept combat ready and cost less to maintain due to being used less. Those not in storge are kept at our training centres, where they can actually be fired, you need a massive shooting range to fire them, most countries do no have a range big enough to fire the G6 at max range. UK, USA and others does something similar, they have a lot of AFV in storage near where they will be used, Aka main land Europe. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 8:58pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
agaugust: That's a lie, the only G6 Rhinos which were in storage were to be upgraded to G6-52 calibre. During exercise in Lohatlha the gunners fire many G5s and G6s from 4 ART battalion that I do not need media to tell me anything about. @Agaugust is now finally busted The original FH-77B 39 calibre is an export version of Haubits 77A with slightly modified features. Nigeria procured 48 of those guns in 1980 which were produced by Bofors and later were joined by India as export clients. Nigeria's FH-77Bs are still in their original form from the way they were procured from the manufacturer (Bofors). India is the only country so far to have upgraded their howitzers from 155mm/39 calibre to 155mm/45 calibre and are now codified as FH-77 B02, which is similar to the old G6-45 calibre. The latest variants which you are making a noise about is designated 155mm FH-77 B05 L52 which is an upgrade from 155mm/39 calibre to 155mm/52 calibre and can reach a range of up to 41000m with Base Bleed ammo. However, it is only two howitzers so far which have been upgraded to this level by BAE system. The demonstration of this new variant was done in India in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006. Unfortunately, no contracts were allocated by India to further this project. In conclusion, Nigeria's FH77B has not undergone upgrades and cannot fire beyond 30 km range. Hence, It is not a secret that Nigeria as a whole has undoubtedly inferior artillery to that of SA. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haubits_FH77 http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product4673.html You see how easy it is to catch you? 2 Likes |

mzilakazi: No Your long story is a waste of time and manipulative confusion with fraudulent intent. Bofors matter is very simple. PROVED HERE ON NAIRALAND WITH SOURCES : 1. SIPRI database confirmed Nigeria and India bought the same Bofors FH-77B 2. Army Guide website and Indian army official video, both sources agree Bofors FH-77B has maximum range 41km. 3. Nigeria has Bofors FH-77B artillery with range maximum 41km 4. CASE CLOSED ! . |

agaugust: We posted a citation where Hawks used LinkZA to aim their weapons. One practical application of Link ZA is as catalyst for the SA Air Force’s BAE Systems Mk 120 Hawk LIFT radar-simulation system (RSS), which uses a radio-frequency network established among as many as eight aircraft engaged in an exercise. Each aircraft constantly transmits its position via a Link ZA datalink, and each aircraft's mission computer calculates the positions of the other aircraft relative to itself. That picture is displayed as a real-time radar image on one of each pilot’s three multifunction displays (MFD). http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-6184/ If you didnt have the memory of a gold fish, you would recall this 1 Like |

agaugust: The irony of the boldened part. Army guide confirms the max range of the Bofors with standard ammunition as 24km and 30km with HEER BB Charges include the Charge 8 which is roughly equivalent to M119 but gives more favourable pressure and burning properties at extreme temperatures. Charge 8 provides a muzzle velocity of 685 m/s to give a range of 19,000 m. Charge 9 is a new development to provide a muzzle velocity of 827 m/s and a range with standard projectiles of 24,000 m and with base bleed projectiles of 30,000 m. http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product4673.html This is from the same page you are using. The picture you use on that page is for the LH77 B05 L52 Your own source confirms max range is 24km and 30km. Indian acheivements at high altitude are irrelevant. Augugu king of fraud 3 Likes |

Nigeria is way behind Ghana. As long as we have the pride and joy of Africa, Ghana in the tournament. The tournament will be just fine. patches689: You cannot lock on to a target with data-link. You need one of the following...Radar, FLIR, Satellite GPS, but it has to be connected with the weapon being fired. Hawk jet can receive information of a Nigerian T-72 tank location, but how will SANDF get that information when your ISTAR capability is 66 years behind NAF ? You are just having wet dreams in your bedroom . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 1:22am On Nov 21, 2014 |
patches689: You were foolishly aiming weapons in a training exercise with your own forces among your own SANDF playing role of target and seeker among yourselves. Real enemies in real war are located in enemy lines, not inside your own camp. Fool ! How will SAAF get information of a Nigerian Roland SAM location without being shot down or intercepted by NAF jets with PL-9C missiles ? You get close to identify enemy, you stay far away you cannot differentiate friend or foe ! War is a game South Africa has not played for 20 years, and you think it is a video game, no, it is a game of death in reality . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 1:25am On Nov 21, 2014 |
patches689: ActivateKruger: SANDF data-link has not been proven to exist except on paper, you never did anything on record with it. Data-link is a telecoms device, not a targeting pod or radar for locking on to targets for weapons delivery attack. Fool ! You can only attack targets you lock on with your radar or FLIR, then satellite GPS. Yet if you are too far away, you may be targeting your own army without knowing it, friendly fire disaster . 1 Like |

agaugust: Your link of 40km is from an army guide pager that discusses both the FH77B and the B05 L52 Why does it say one max range in the page and then contradict itself later on the same page? Because it is referring to two different systems You have also added the title "FH77B" to the graph yourself- so now you are editing sources? Pic related how the page actually appears- note how it is talking about the FH77 B05 L52 Your attempts at fraud are poor indeed A new day, a new lie exposed
