femoric9:Vo can't know who your father is through sevis bar code . If your i20 states any name, go with a statement of account that goes with that name. It is now your choice to tell them its your father or Uncle but its better for your dad to sponsor you than saying your Uncle. Goodluck 2 Likes |

Hello friends...A friend a mine needs a candid advice!! He wants to apply for undergraduate admission in fall 2015 but he's scared of being denied due to his inability to secure admission into a tertiary institution in Nigeria(JAMB wahala) He finished high school in 2002, got admission into one of the Fed poly in 2011 with a National Diploma Certificate in 2013. He's 25yrs old What are his chances of getting a Visa ? Does the age disqualifies him from an undergraduate programme? |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by osahons9(m): 5:44pm On Nov 21, 2014 |
Michael1000: Tell him to apply. The age is still very okay though I belive that age na scam (Let's not discuss that). 25 years isn't bad. He can go for undergraduate but he has to fill the missing years. He also needs to write standardized test to show he is a serious student. |

femoric9 pls, whatever you do don't tell them he's your father when he's not. My uncle did then, he told the consular he's brother was his dad. He was denied because they made him take a DNA test for prove and was found guilty. Though he's in T&T now married but he's got the red flag at the US embassy till date. femoric9: |

adeyeni86: I won't support femoric lieing... But you need to understand that every applicant shares different story... Your uncle probably applied based on immigration visa and they usually conduct DNA test once they feel its necessary..This is a non immigrant visa.. They don't have time for that.. 1 Like |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by nedum360: 8:00pm On Nov 21, 2014 |
Michael1000: That he's 25 means he finished secondary school in 2002@ age 13?? That doesn't add up. This kinda blunder would fetch the person auto denial not even age. Once your intentions are sincere n genuine, you'd be issued a visa 2 Likes |

Well well Turns out the immigration law announced today by Obama affects students Afterall F1 students in STEM fields. Science, technology, engineering and maths are eligible for visa extension. Details are still sketchy right now but this is a HUGE leap. Source aldianews.com/articles/politics/immigration/who-will-get-stay/36574 |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by GboyegaD(m): 6:40am On Nov 22, 2014 |
Glocal1: In U.S. you often times don't need Masters for PhD admission however in Canada, some schools are lenient. If you have a 3.5 at the end of 1st year in some schools/ programs in Canada you could be allowed to switch but to do that you have to take some PhD classes as a Masters Student. As for the MBA for PhD in Management I have no idea on that. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by GboyegaD(m): 6:45am On Nov 22, 2014 |
Glocal1: Who told you they are not? I think it depends on so many things though and I know in my department for instance, all PhD students have funding while about 90% of our MA students have funding/scholarship too. |
