Diffdeef: Your friend must be dirty. Sponge must be used because of the kind of climate we are in here. Very dirty and dusty environment demands that you use sponge.Even in the USA where the climatic condition and environment is friendly, they use sponge. It all depends on the kind of sponge one uses. There are some kind of sponge here that are too bad to be used. There are very soft and mild sponge that you feel cool when you use them to bath. Therefore, advise your friend to use to get the right sponge for himself 3 Likes 1 Share |

Originalsly: Erm.. First of all.. If Soap kills bacteria and germs from our skins.. Cant the same soap kill the bacteria and germs on the sponge?! And dont your toothbrush also suffer from the same philosophy of 'How do you clean off the dirt from your brush?'.. I bath with Hot water.. Rinse my sponge (We call it Body Gloves in France ) in Hot water and change my sponge as often as I change my toothbrush.. 4 Likes |

One can have a clean bath without using sponge even if you do expose your skin to dirt like traffic wardens. Here is the trick. Fill the bath tub with water, add enough Sunlight or Ariel detergent, step in and soak yourself for some 30mins and lastly rinse up with clean water. You will be clean as new. Moreover, if you want a faster action or Alao Akala is your role model, just add a little hypo and get that pulchritudinous cleanliness you deserve. Yea! You are welcome. 1 Like |

I have not used sponge on my body for more than 15 years. I have sponge in my soap bag though. The iching I get anyday I try it is better told than experienced. On the other hand, I have found out that those who use sponge don't in any way look, feel or smell better than myself. On the contrary, I have managed to maintain a youthful skin when compared with my contemporaries. Over-scrubbing the skin can even expose the skin to ultraviolet rays. It is also next to bleaching. |

MissMeiya: I learnt it affects mostly people with dry skin.. My Dermatologist in France advised me to stop taking long hot showers.. That its because the oil on my skin has been washed off so my skin feels tight and dry hence the itching. |

MadCow1: Ohh. Excuse the ignorance of this question, but, is it common for people in hot climates to rub lotion and creme after bathing? 1 Like |

This is my opinion: if you think washing your body without a sponge gets you clean, shouldn't you wash your dishes the same way And to correct a lot of misconceptions in this thread: people in cold climates use sponges!! Don't mind oyinbo film, abeg it's just a movie! 1 Like |

MadCow1: You didn't answer my questionnnn I've been wondering for awhile, because I thought maybe it's not necessary because of the heat and humidity, but now you've made me aware that people do suffer from dry skin. So, is it common? |
Re: Bathing With Sponges & Without Sponges. by Aida13: 1:16pm On Nov 24, 2014 |
Sponge bath is the best, you will see a difference in your skin especially if you scrub in a rhythmic and prolonged manner. It will exfoliate and bring out your true color. Even for dark people it will improve your complexion. The difference in skin glow between sponge users and non-users is obvious. Sponging your skin also helps with circulation of blood beneath the surface. You can use a rough wet cloth if you don't like sponge. |

Personally, bathing without sponge is like not bathing at all. Advertisers always has a way of tricking their potential customers; by making them believe that all they're advertising is applicable to real life. hell no!!! |

Re: Bathing With Sponges & Without Sponges. by mdenigma(m): 1:41pm On Nov 24, 2014 |
Here are facts that you might find useful. Using a sponge especially the coarse ones is not a healthy practice. Your skin has a lot of protective cells which get washed off as you scrub leaving your body prone to disease causing germs. Soap and water is just ok for healthy skin. Medicated soaps are also not recommended as they destroy this protective cells on the skin Most people store their sponges in sponge dishes. This practice allows germs to multiply quickly in the moist environment. Always dry your sponge. Change your sponge after 3 months same way you should change your toothbrush. Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Treat it with care 1 Like |
