The moon betrays an ominous presence;

A cold heart with a foul essence,

A murderer with no conscience.

It perches on the rooftop like a bird of prey.

It sits impatient, considering the light of day.



The trailing aroma of blood arouses it.

Alas! An unfortunate soul wanders the streets,

Lost and scared by surroundings barely lit.

Fangs bared, claws protracted,

It is now swayed by primal instinct



It glides down and follows like a shadow,

It points itself towards its target like an arrow.

The prey runs but finds nowhere to burrow.

Caught in a corner, he squeaks like a proverbial mouse.

He begs for life, but only to the amusement of the ghoul.



It tastes the sweet wine that is blood,

A liquid so divine like a god.

The prey dies; dried stiff like a rod.

Its bloodlust is now sated.

It returns to its sepulchral abode.

Ah men you just spilled the beans! Well its kind of obvious you were talking about a vampire.

Anyway nice poem! Love it when people write poems about the dark side. I actually wrote one on death!. Kind of like a tribute. Hehehe

'My thoughts' are what I really feel! I write poem about love just to pass time. Have a couple more that toll the line of my thoughts. It speak about oppression, intimidation etc.
