This is true, however with the social class you keep in schools like this, you are likely never going to be poor. 9 out of 10 times their parents are already well to do, probably influential and have connections. Therefore getting into Uni and eventually getting good jobs won't be as difficult.

From experience, sending your children to these sorts of schools may be a good thing but will not guarantee success. You will be surprised that under ideal conditions, children who go to cheaper state schools will work harder and make better grades than these rich kids. I have seen it happen too many times.

If your child works very hard and you assist them, it does not matter what school they go to, they will make it.


Besides , many state schools here in the UK are better than this school and are mostly free.

I still remember back in King's College Lagos boarding house days, when you'd go into the dining hall and line up for meals.

Then the lady serving, with noteworthy precision, would place 1 1/2 spoons of rice, with one "maggi-cube" sized meat and small stew in your plate. Sometimes they'd make mistakes, as no human is infallible, by putting two pieces of meat on your plate, but I still give credit to them till this day for their quick recovery from errors made, as they would quickly realize that they had put two pieces of meat on your plate and ask you to come back so they can remove the second one.

The US is a great equalizer. The richest Nigerians there don't start with rich backgrounds. These kids have stepping stones less wealthy kids have. My friend at Accenture (posh background) worked with a guy from FGC Warri. I know KC boys doing well and I know Badure college kids buying their 3rd home in a really nice zipcode. Unlike UK (where having the right background will help you, depending on the colour of your skin). It depends on the child and the parent, there is such a thing as poverty mentality.

In Nigeria, however, I know the parent of one those kids in a super posh kindergarten, she was boasting about how her boy went to birthday parties in Banana Island. Sometimes that's the mentality of such parents, being able to say "my kids go to Lekki British" and watch others' eyes open in envy of the money they must be throwing around.

Sometimes, early wealth is a bad disability to a child. I've NEVER seen a very wealthy child grow up to exceed their father or mother. My dad constantly said so, that inherited wealth kills the drive in you, he would rather leave you something to survive on and get you the best (not the most expensive) education. There must be a correlation between why the world's richest men and women weren't necessarily the ones who attended Eton or Rugby.

hmm I also asked my self the same questions. In my own opinion, if one doesn't hold 20 years work xperience + professional Qualification + doctorate , I must say Don't even bother your self nearing that gate.

The money stolen from one of our former leaders whose death was famously celebrated is enough to build five of such schools in each states of the federation and abj free of charge for all Nigerian students.

Imagine someone that died almost 2 decades ago till date US and Swiz banks are still refunding the billions of pounds and dollars stolen .
Money that will be enought to sort all our power, rail, hospital, schools, employment, transportation, energy, electricity issues, pocket by just one man.
