The Nigerian military will not be making any significant purchases for the foreseeable future. A.U.S.T.E.R.I.T.Y. http://leadership.ng/business/391875/naira-devaluation-will-lead-high-cost-production-ops Naira Devaluation Will Lead To High Cost Of Production – OPS Olushola Bello — Nov 27, 2014 | Following the measures taken by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to strengthen the nation’s economy, the Organized Private Sector (OPS) have said that this would push up the operating cost of business enterprises in the Nigerian economy. Among other measures put in place, the CBN devalued the national currency by N13 from N155 to $1 to N168 to the $1, moved the benchmark interest rate known as the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) by 100 basis point from 12 per cent to 13 per cent and increased private sector’s Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) from 15 per cent to 20 per cent. Others include widening the band around the mid-point by 200 basis points from +/-3 percent to + -5 percent as well as retained the foreign exchange trading position at one percent. Reacting to these measures by CBN, the president of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Remi Bello said, “As a result of the import dependent character of the economy the increase in the MPR will push up the operating cost of enterprises in the economy.” He pointed out that many firms were already feeling the heat across all sectors, remarking that, “in the few weeks, the naira exchange rate has depreciated by about 11 per cent in the interbank market and over 12 per cent in the parallel market. The impact of the depreciation on operating costs is very profound.” Bello noted that cost push inflation would be pronounced in the next few months as this would be driven by high cost of production and high cost of imported finished goods. Also speaking, former acting director- general of Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (MAN), Rasheed Adegbenro noted, “Generally when you devalue your currency, the intention is to reduce import and facilitate export. But unfortunately, the Nigerian economy does not have the productive edge to facilitate export. So, it means that it will decrease import, which cannot be decreased and so the effect will be inflationary. It will lead to inflation in the economy.” However, he noted that in this present situation the government has only two options, to increase the fuel pump or increase the MPC, adding that the government will not want to increase the fuel pump because of the forthcoming general elections. Adegbenro pointed out that “this tells the government that the economy is not well structured and has to be in the future to absorb such reoccurrence, saying that the measures are going to hurt both the business and manufacturing sectors of the economy.” 1 Like |

agaugust: You really do not understand my question. If the F7s were capable of discharging both PGMs and Missile why would they go an seek cheaper alternative jets that can launch PGMs. I mean, if the F7s had that potential, do you think your military would have been in this pressing need of acquiring cheap low cost jets? Do you think that they are just making a joke? So, in that case, I would comfortably assume that your F7s are then dead, when the owner is scattered afield to look out for small puppies that can help him to fight the enermy is his yard when the bull dog is just lying on the ground. What kind of bull dog is that? Shame!!! 1 Like |

Reutech delivering Land Rogue turrets for Malaysia Reutech’s Land Rogue remote controlled weapons stations are being delivered to Malaysia after recently passing factory acceptance trials. Reutech is supplying 54 Land Rogues to Denel Land Systems (DLS), which will be used by the Malaysian Army. The contract for a range of different turrets was awarded to Denel Land Systems via Malaysia’s Deftech, with Reutech Solutions being subcontracted for the 12.7 mm remote controlled weapons station turrets. Reutech said since receiving the contract, Denel Land Systems requested a few changes on behalf of the Malaysian Army, with changes to the human machine interface so it matches that of other Denel turrets; the installation of the same electro-optical sights as other Denel turrets and the installation of 76 mm smoke grenade launchers. After these changes were made, Reutech requalified the turret, culminating in successful factory acceptance tests and shooting trials witnessed by DLS and the end user. Delivery of the first production units has now started and production is expected to run over a three year period. The Land Rogues supplied by Reutech are armed with 12.7 mm Browning M2 machineguns. The Sea Rogue is service with South African Navy and the UAE Coast Guard. The Land Rogue turret is part of a larger turret order from the Malaysian Army for its AV8 8x8 vehicles. In July 2012 it was announced that Malaysia had signed a 343 million euro (R3.5 billion) contract for turrets and weapons. This includes 69 x two man turrets fitted with the South African GI30 30mm main gun and 54 x missile turrets equipped with the GI30 30mm gun and Denel Dynamics Ingwe anti-tank missile system. The order also includes the supply of 216 laser-guided Ingwe missiles and 54 x remote control weapons systems. Similar turrets are being fitted to the South African Army’s new Badger infantry fighting vehicle – the Malaysian contract would not have been possible without Badger. Malaysia has ordered 257 FNSS/Deftech AV-8 8x8 armoured vehicles, to be manufactured by Deftech of Malaysia.

patches689: You have NO trap. SANDF army official website NEVER claimed to have 1,000 Ratel ZT-3 There are hundreds of photos of Ratel showing most as gun armed NOT ZT-3 missile armed, so many Ratel versions, how many photos will the army ppst on webpage? Ten photos of one vehicle with different guns? It is easy to just write one sentence "V-LAP 73km shell" after the 39km Base Bleed without overflowing the page with data, your army did NOT write it because they DON'T have it. Defenseweb did NOT report that SANDF has it, NO source EVER says SANDF has it, ALL sources say it exists in DENEL test laboratory, one shell of V-LAP, one piece used for experiment, and no longer existing, no longer produced. The Indian army officially displayed and declared they have Bofors FH-77B with 42km range, show us where South African army displayed and declared that they have V-LAP shell 73km range, we see or hear NONE !! NOT mentioned as purchased NOT mentioned as still existing NOT mentioned as sold to any user, ONLY mentioned in a test laboratory. #Show Us Photo of the V-LAP 73km shell in Existence with SANDF . |

patches689: Your link is of 1980s F-7 jet. NAF, PAF, SAF, BAF are flying 2010 F-7 jets with 4the generation radar and missiles. The SAAF Hawk jet of 2006 is the same as the Hawk jet of 1974, so SAAF flies an obsolete Hawk jet. Equation balanced . |

patches689: LOL....the sorties were flown without hours, it was in seconds and minutes. LOL. 1,148 combat sorties in 2 months....is equal to 1,148 minutes abi? LOL. Domingo Durango NAF is showing you gold sorties, you are asking for bronze hours. SAAF has ZERO combat sorties in 20 years, SAAF is a DEAD air force become VIP transporters . |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 1:39pm On Nov 27, 2014 |
patches689: NAF only bought F-7 jets as temporary measure while we are hunting for a 4th generation jet fighter, so from next year 4th generation jets will be flying for NAF. Equation balanced. |
