Hi Just back from the 2nd interview in 19 days, the first was a denial. No mention of d first denial, straight to questions: VO: why are you here? Me: for renewal of our visa for visiting & wifey going for birthing VO: do you av a doctor? Me: yes Vo: what's his name? And hospital? Wifey: dr d ziworitinvo, oak bend medical centre Vo: how did you know him? Me: made enquiries on internet and when we were in houston during our may vacation Vo: do you have quotes? Me: yes, hands over all documents n budget sheet as requested by the VO Vo: read through, typed. For several moments Checked both dom & naira acct statements Vo: unfortunately the quote from the hospital of $8,650.00 is unrealistic, the fee ranges between $20k to $30k. Unable to give the visa Me: this is a cash pay package blah, blah Case closed Hmm, is there anything wrong with oakbend medical centre & dr Z? Maybe we should have used another doctor/hospital? Just heard that sumone was given visa with even less doctor/hospital quote, so what's the deal? To be continued ... |

bj2012golf: Hi bj2012golf, I mentioned the same thing yesterday. The female VO that interviewed me said she understands that delivery charges are around 10,000 dollars and above. I responded that my quote had been discounted by 40% for self pay patients as I was paying cash upfront. I even offered to show her other cost estimates from other hospitals in the same state which she declined. A pregnant lady that was interviewed by another VO got her visa approved. So dunno... Was it a black lady that interviewed you too? So what do you intend to do now. Please let me know so i can adopt it or we can plan together. Regards, |

SisiOlu: @bj2012golf, Would appreciate if you can share your transcript and also i asked a question earlier which I would be grateful you answer "Was the VO referring to delivery charges as the end to end delivery fees containing docs, hospital, pediatrics, anesthesia etc OR she was just particular on hospital charges alone" |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by bj2012golf(m): 2:52pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
Hi This time it was a young white guy, not the bearded elderly man. The black american lady in the first cubicle denied us the first time. I'm open to a 3rd attempt, but that is predicated on if we can get a date in december or first week january, but wifey is just upset at them right now. My advise is to consider abuja as the next location, tho its unlikely we'll go that route. I don't know how else one can be so honest and genuine, all my colleagues wifes never indicated they would be birthing in the US. Today not less than 4 of them have succeded this year alone, no disclosure! To be continued ... SisiOlu: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by bj2012golf(m): 3:06pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
What transcript do you refer to? End to end, doctors, pediatrician, anesthetician (sic), ultrasound, everything. One thing to note, you may not believe it tho, but all the VO's are clerks as told me by my friend who is an american PrinceAdeAde: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by bj2012golf(m): 3:12pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
Yeah you mentioned sumthg interesting, your VO said it starts from $10k up, ours said $20k upwards. These guys are just taking us for a ride, I guess they are enjoying themselves see us try to argue our way thru their decisions! To be continued ... SisiOlu: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by SisiOlu: 3:51pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
@PrinceAdeAde; I reapplied alone for a B2 visa and was interviewed yesterday (Dec 1). See interview transcript below: Reason of travel: Child birth Name of your doctor and correspondence: Gave her letter of responsibility, doctor's appointment, estimated cost How much do you earn monthly; I said about 450k but it varies from 330 to 450 depending on allowances and subsidies and I filled 330 on my form Requested for my account statement: I reminded her that my husband was paying for the trip and gave her my statement and his as well I offered to give her letter of sponsorship from my husband but she declined I gave her my budget sheet which was about 2.7 million naira She complained that my estimated cost was low and she understands that delivery bills are above $10,000 and mine was about $5,000. I explained that i had been given a 40% discount for paying cash upfront and that was the same amount i paid for my first son's delivery I also offered to show her estimated cost from other hospitals in the same state which she declined. I noticed that she did not ask any question about my husband She also asked the reason I gave for travelling in August and I said "visit this year and child delivery next year"; but she said she can only see visit on the system. She kept glancing at the wall and typing as if she was typing word for word the content of my letter of responsibility and she kept looking at the account statements, flippin thru, going back. i was even beginning to fink maybe she dint know where to check closing balance. I was denied again according to the same section 214B At this point i was frustrated so i jst tld her that I was denied earlier and they cited section 214b which i researched and based this new application on my findings so she should advise on what to do next. She looked a bit concerned like she wanted to say more but finally said dere re various aspects to 214b and she is not allowed to give speciifc reasons of denial. And that she looked at my application as a whole (the old + new) to decide and not just this present one. I fink i will free ds US visa for now. After delivery, will get UK visa den try US visa late next year or 2016. Hopefully, will get a 2 year visa. when am pregnant in the future will do dropbox, send template letter and off i go. Goodluck to you and your wifey. Keep us updated 1 Like |

They run their practice and deliver patients at the hospitals they have priveleges at. Dr Dama Alexander Ziworitin is BOARD CERTIFED obstetrician/Gynecologist who has delivered and continue to deliver a lot of patients in Houston, Texas at 3 different Hospitals- Memorial Hermann Hospital in Sugar Land, Methodist Hospital in Sugar land and Oakbend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas. Oakbend Medical Center just happens to be the cheapest for deliveries and so Nigerians like to take advantage of it. If you did not get a visa, it is because the VO may not have been convinced that you are eligible for a non-immigrant visa. It has nothing to do with the estimated cost, Hospital or the Obstetrician with whom you have made contact. |

Good afternoon NLs, I need your advice. I got my B1/B2 US visa in Dec 2012 but didn't use it till Nov last year when I went to give birth in the US. I paid all my fees and have receipts for all payments. My visa is expiring this dec and I have applied with my hubby and 2 year old son using the dropbox submission. My hubby received a call today that we should come for interview any Monday or Wednesday by 1200noon. We intend going on the 15th or 17th since we are not based in Lagos. We have submitted the confirmation form and dropbox form already at the DHL office. What documents do we need to go along with? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by AngelicBola83(f): 4:26pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
@Herjeehbadey I would advise you go along with all your receipts. If the receipts do not show details of all payments, mail your service providers to send it to you asap. You also need to be confident at the point of interview. A friend had the same case as yours and had to attend their interview twice, before she was granted a visa. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 4:35pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
@SisiOlu, Thanks for the detailed information. I am encouraging myself on behalf of my wife as these details are scary.Dont really understand what was going thru the VO mind. The only thing I could pick out was that you mentioned the VO highlighted that she can only see visit, to me that looks like she was seeing your application as a B1 category application rather than a B2 application. Also, the VO said she used both your past interview and this interview to arrive at a conclusion. this may have sort of worked against you as i reviewed your transcript of the first interview. have said it all my sister,it is well and there is GOD ooo Quick one though: How come you budget was 2.7mill(about $15,000) and your bills was only $5000 meaning you had $10,000 budgeted for possibly ticketing, feeding & accommodation. Did she raise any flag on this as my wife's budget is similar only that her total delivery cost is about $10,000 minus other expenses |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by bj2012golf(m): 5:04pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
@yefa 1) Of course I know Dr D Ziworitin in board certified and has been practising in the US sinc e 1996. No qualms about that 2) I know doctors do not own hospitals as it obtains here and I am also aware Dr Z uses the other hospitals you mentioned. We chose oakbend, which is reputed to be a very popular n good hospital in houston for 2 reasons 1) My wife and I are familiar with the richmond area, don't know about sugar land tho. 2) We have a care provider less than 5 mins from Oakbend who provides accommodation, nanny services, transportation, be in the labour room since I will not be there until after 2 weeks of delivery. (An RCCG member providing comprehensive service for nursing mothers) I honestly do not have anything against Dr Z nor Oakbend as relating to reputation. Dr Z was recommended by a friend who's wife was delivered of a baby by him at oakbend. Guess you'll make a great VO knowing who is eligible or not Regards yefa: 1 Like |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by SisiOlu: 5:12pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
PrinceAdeAde: hi, My first denial was b1/b2. Second was B2. pediatrician, anaesthetic, laboratory test fees were not included in the quote from my oby/gyn. My budget covered other stuffs asides from those you outlined above such as; pediatrician, anaesthetic, laboratory test fees, baby shopping, transportation, personal shopping, shipping cost, winter clothing, etc. She dint raise any issue on that. Just relax and pray wella. If they wanna give you visa dey won't stress u with irrelevant stuffs like that. |

All these denial stories hurt me. Sisiolu and bjgolf seems we had the same VOs in different forms. I have hung my boots for this pikin. even the Canada is looking like a long thing. |

@Harjeehbaday I wonder why they have called you in for an interview. Is your hubby also eligible for dropbox i.e. does he have a B1/B2 visa that he is also renewing? Or is he a fresh applicant? Harjeehbaday: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by bj2012golf(m): 5:24pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
@rail Lol! We did right by disclosing what we intended to do. Some didn't and were given visa. My colleagues who went that route are rejoicing today, believing they are smart. I know fully well some who disclosed were given visa, with even cheaper hospital/ OBGYN fees Regards raii: |

Hi everyone For those preggies who plan to do Atlanta you can google Grady Memorial Hospital. A colleague had 3 of his kids there, the first according to him was $10k, while the other 2 was $6k max (he also said these fee were all-inclusive) |
