so its van persie's fault that the pass came late? was the man in possession blind not to see that van persie would run beyond the last defender & release the ball just before he does so?

only on NL people blame the runner & not the slow thinkers who are in possession. in the real world, the man with the ball is the one in control. he's the one to spot the run & know the right moment to release the pass.

The fault can come from either the passer or the receiver. This purely was a RVP fault. Even if he were to wait 3 seconds more, no one would come close to him. He is a professional, not a robbot who just run because his team mate is in control. In my opinion, the pass was swift and it came at the right time.

Yoou saw the way RVP aligned himself with Wilson's run despite Wilson delay of the ball. That was professionalism at work.

there was nothing late about the pass. Falcao was pulling the only positioned defender away to the right, the nearest guy to van Persie had some distance to cover if he'll catch up to van Persie before he gets to the box. the head-start already made enough sense for van Persie, I see no reason why he kept running ahead. the best movement he could have made was diagonally in line with the last man & the momentum to latch onto the through ball could have there still

It's only a player from the academy / reserves that should be associated with such an unintelligent run..definitely not an experienced CF like RVP.

He didn't need to make that run as early as that - the space gifted to him by stoke's CBs was enough for him to stay put.

the pass should arrive just before he runs past the last man. that's why only players blessed with vision can make through passes. the striker is just running hoping to beat the offside trap. he cannot tell if he's beaten it or not - the passer is in control of that. if the passer releases the ball at the right time then the runner is onside.......if the passer senses he cannot time it rightly or he's missed the right moment then he should hold on to the ball. van persie won't be active if the ball doesn't get to him. he will run back & try again.

the passer is the key not the runner!

- if you really want to be a GK, then be first choice. sometimes I wonder how Lindegaard really feel

- Smalling & Rojo again were immense @ the center of defense

- I think van Persie should take a seat next game, irrespective of Rooney's availability

- Carrick should also return to bench when Blind is match fit

Didn't watch d match tho, but tank God 4 d 3points

I like just how fluid this team is during games.
They switch formations with ease.

I was also impressed With our high pressing for large parts of the game. At some points the only way to get the ball out of danger was to hoof it to our miidfielders.
That also forced them to make some errors which we should have used.

These are 2 things that were seriously lacking inn the team last season
