Not surprising, here in France thefts of iPhones have gone down considerably due to the iCloud security feature inbuilt with iOS 7. At best, all the iPhone thief would have is a really expensive paperweight. What is hilarious is this OP's belief that God sent him his iPhone back God only uses android tablets not iPhones. ekeroyal: Sometimes I imagine what the world would be like without bad people. In any case, Nigerians are gradually becoming honest people since the advent of GEJ's administration. The taxi driver who returned a huge amount of money forgotten by a passenger in abuja, same happened in owerri, jalingo and enugu and now this one in PH. God is at work in nigeria through his servant GEJ. And the recent improved rating of Nigeria in corruption index. Gej till 2019. 1 Like |

Ekeroyal, Find my iPhone was enabled on the phone that's the reason you were able to track it from Apple's website. You don't need an app to set that up. It is under "Settings" already. The dude that returned it may have tried unlocking it severely without success. He is also very brave, many people will not even try to ring you. Nobody wan end up for police net |

ekeroyal:Of course OP, the hand of god was definitely there. We need not worry that god doesn't put its hand in the lives of people dying of cancer, HIV, bacterial infections, starvation and malnutrition. It will rather deep its hand in irrelevant and flimsy things like lost iPhones. I salute yua goddu, and its misplaced priorities. No OP, it was technology that helped, not god. The point is, even if the fellow wasn't able to unlock it and got frustrated as the days went by, he could have as well decided to also crush it. But he didn't, instead he took the bold step by calling. He was surprised when I told him I didn't inform the Police and I also didn't come with any Police or something. No, that's not the point. You already addressed the point in the 'lost phone' message you transmitted to the screen. "If you find this phone, it is lost. Simply call 080********. A reward awaits you". The guy made his calculations and figured he stood to gain more by returning the phone than keeping a worthless piece of brick or crushing it. He made a bad investment, and would do anything to recover a part of it at least. By the way, what was the reward? I'm glad your phone worked. Congrats!! He was surprised when I told him I didn't inform the Police and I also didn't come with any Police or something.I have mixed feelings about how you handled this part. Maybe given the Nigerian factor, you did the right thing not to report it to the police. The only people I loath more than criminals in Nigeria are the police force. But under normal circumstances, I would have involved the police. People's proclivity to steal other people's phones needs to be crushed. Meanwhile, my lost hope in Nigeria and Nigerians is gradually coming back. I simply didn't expect getting my iPhone back.If this event restored your hope in Nigeria, then we need more of such things to happen to more people so that Nigeria sheds it's cloak of hopelessness. |

ekeroyal: One evidence that corruption is reducing in Nigeria. Just yesterday, I also picked up a phone -samsung galaxy it was. The owner was a stingy and bad-breathed Nigerian! We sat together in the cab and he didn't shut his oozing mouth for one second! He had issues with the cab man and said he wasn't going to pay a certain amount if the cab man won't pass through a certain route. The man asked him to get off his cab and he left but not before the phone slipped off his pocket. I didn't see the phone until about 5mts later when it started ringing and I realised what happened. I answered and directed him to my stop but you would be amazed at what the bad-breath told me, something like this " ehn? Where are you? That's my phone, just stop there now now I am coming to get it" and me "Oga, come to ABC, ask for the phone someone will give it to you" Him "nooooo! Just wait there, I am coming now now, wait". Mcheeeeew! When I got to my stop, I just gave the attendant at one of the shops I was patronising and told her someone would come for the phone. I wouldn't want to cross paths with that bad breath again in one day else I may throw up everything in my stomach! There are still very fine and good Nigerians. |

ekeroyal: It all depends on a lot but most of all, the hand of God. I had 2 experiences of such in abuja. 1. I lost my wallet in a cab b/w CAC, maitama and Wuse Zone 4 and I was to board a plane first thing the following morning. I was the 1st to get to high court in order to get an 'affitdavit' cos I lost my drivers' license and ID cards with the wallet. As I was about to board the plane, I got a call from kiss FM to come and pick my wallet with everything intact. 2. I was out hustling with a friend and in the evening, we decided to eat at the open place opposite area 2 shopping complex. All through the day, I was carrying my backpack containing my laptop and all my academic/professional certificates but due to the overcrowded situation of the place we were to eat, I decided to leave my backpack in my friend's car. He left his own too with his laptop inside. After eating, we got into the car. My first reaction was to reach for my bag. E don miss! So also was his own too. I felt like throwing up the food. We went to garki police station to make a formal report after searching inside dustbin and inside gutter. We even went into some of the buildings around the block. The policemen pitied me like die. About a week later, I got a call to come and pick my certificates at the entrance of a shopping complex in area 10, all intact. I couldn't hold back my joy. On both occasions, I knew it was God's help because I didn't go anywhere to announce. I believe there are still some good people with kind hearts in this parts of the world. I'm happy you got your phone back. |

such happened to me around March 2012. I was in a cab going to Gwarinpa from Ceddi plaza, didn't realise that my phone was gone for about 30mins after I stepped down from the cab. Called the number later, the man brought the phone to my office the next day. I was shocked when the man walked in to my office and dropped the phone on my table. I gave him some money in appreciation, he turned it down. |
