It was definitely someone she knew, but it's questionable how this/these person[s] got into the house. Was the door unlocked? It's typical of Nigerians to start blaming the spouse when something like this happens. It's easy and convenient to blame to start pointing fingers at the spouse but that's foul. He has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. They need to investigate a number of people, not just the husband and then narrow down their list. I just hope the mediocre police in Nigeria will take their time in doing their job and not lock an innocent man up up for the purpose of saying they have found the perpetrator and calling it a day, or worse not being able to find the actual killer and dismissing/forgetting about the case.

Let me tell you how it works. The man claims he has gone to work so he is not at home and could not have done it. He deliberately went to the diagnostic centre and even had a colleague bring him home, just to fortify his alibi. Now what the police should do is to investigate all the people and places where he claimed to have been. Review all his calls sometime before the incident and also check up the people he has been calling. Some bit of intelligence work will do
