PENGASAN like ASUU and NLC national executives are corrupt and the strike has more political undertones to it.

The PIB is an executive bill that originated from this administration. It's non passage is a legislative issue and not an FG policy wahala.

They ought to picket the National Assembly if they are honest about the PIB passage and not strike.

The APC hands are all over this to discredit this govt more with an industrial strike before the elections.

Here I am thinking that the government's party has an overall majority in the both legislative chambers? So it's their own members that are now making it ungovernable for them. grin

1. Bros I know you're a GEJ man, but we go skull......pls come down from all these "complications" you've done up there and come specifc
2. You know what? you lost me from your first line "having read what Buhari said........"I dare ask, where did you read it? from NL? if yes then, you started from a false premise
3. The use of the phrase "the average northerner is focused on oil and largess from the govt....." blablabla....you see, this is the reason why you create enmity between you folks and northerners. You come in with baseless assumptions, that are in itself arrogant and self serving. A Northerner ran CBN of late and brought sanity to all the rot the predecessor southerner covered up. A northerner sat as head of BPE and oversaw the successful privatization of many of these industries...
4. Please don't complicate what his basic and try to sell it as complex. There is nothing "dynamics" "global economics" "oil prices" mumbo jumbo you put up there and they mean absolutely nothing. I can understand the lies you Jonathanians tell your folks, Agric Revolution, Automotive Policy and Power Policy...all charade. You're just throwing words around - Dynamic era, dispensation, economy etc

Ps: which dynamics of Jonathan Mumbo-Jumbo, pls tell we which state apart from Lagos is able to survive without monthly oil rent

You go which school, half baked education abi.
Like I earlier stated most of you folks dont even have a basic knowledge of how the economy operates, therefore it will be a mumbo jumbo to you.

When I use the term average Northerner I am very correct with my ascertion, their mindset is all about oil and largesse from the centre. Example they are the ones holding the passage of PIB bill, a well articulated bill which if implemented would have adressed all the problems bedeviling us in the oil industry.

You are mentioning Sanusi but he did nt have much to do because the period he was CBN governor oil was in $100 range, if he was there now only God knows how he would have managed the financial crisis.

You can say what you like but the Agric and Automotive policies are very good and sound economic policies.
When I wrote I stated that GEJ has his faults, but comparing him to Buhari, he is a better alternative, and mind you Atiku's chances of clinching APC ticket is improving by the day, ignore him at your own peril.
Let me state it again peradventure Buhari wins next year elections, Nigerians should get ready for a major economic tsunami because he has got no clue concerning the economy.

When Buhari was head of state do you know that doing investigative objective journalism was a crime?

You dolts. Read up on this Man before you come hear and bleet the same rubish like his herd of sheeples.
It's not when Buhari was in power, it's when the military was in power. It was not a one man band scenario. There were the Supreme v military council, which Buhari was a member.
No matter where you go, military rule and free press is never compatible because they rule by decrees which are absolute.
Have you ask yourself who were the attorney General and justice ministers at times? Aren't they civilians?
Where was the court and the judges? Where was the SAN social club of Nigeria?
It was the judiciary in Pakistan that took on Musharraf and finally brought him down. Overall, where was Nigerians like you? Where they the same bunch jubilating when stinking NPN was overthrowned, the millions that marched and calling psychotic Abacha to rule forever? Who were the political parties fighting to adopt Abacha to become their candidate?
It's not about Buhari, it's about you Nigerians .

“APC is a bloodthirsty party” – Labaran Maku

“We appreciate the PDP as a peaceful party. When PDP held its primaries in Nasarawa State, they were all peaceful. Four persons were killed in Kokona following the crisis in APC’s primaries. APC is a very violent party and the people of this state have already understood the situation. They are all returning to the PDP because they need peace in this state”

I SUPPORT MILITARY TAKE OVER IN 2015, IF EBELLE WANTS TO FORCE HIMSELF DOWN OUR THROATS.

THE REASON MILITARY TAKE OVER IS BECAUSE THE POLITICIANS ALWAYS WANT TO UNDERMINE PEOPLE'S CHOICES.

SUCH WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO CRISIS. AND CRISIS INVITES THE KHAKHI MEN.

THE ONLY WAY TO FENCE OUT MILITARY IS TO ALLOW PEOPLE'S MANDATE.

I wonder how he managed the ministry of petroleum when he headed it.

He never mentioned resource control or fiscal federalism.

My point was simply , how many Nigerians will be ready to buy those cars for we to claim we have a functional "automobile" industry , talk more of exporting them . it is quite simple , if innoson motors partnered with peugot or bmw as it is the case in south africa , you can be sure it will be bought by Nigerians . Has your govt changed their officials cars to the ones produced in Nigeria . keep decieving yourself.

In this time and age, govt should not be building refineries. The private sector can do that at zero cost to public treasury and in fact, better manage it. All that is needed for the private sector to do that is the right govt policy. The public funds that would have been wasted on refineries should be used in areas such as health and education. Govt has no business in business. The ones already built by govt was a big mistake and that explains why they're dysfunctional today.

That some fools even boast of building refineries with public funds and use it for campaigns shows how clueless and foolish such individuals are,

Meanwhile, Dangote is already building a Mega refinery. Many more private companies should follow suit. That is the way to go. That is the future.

Spoken like a true champion of corruption and senseless practices that only make one man or few men rich.

Venezuela is an oil producing country and almost all the refineries are government owned and are doing very well. Why is it impossible for a government to run ordinary refineries?

The corrupt PDP government deliberately sabotaged our refineries, claims that a government is incapable of running them, thereby preparing the way for Dangote Refineries to come up.

your stupid PDP (GEJ + OBJ) been selling Nigeria since 1999.

Like I said, you guys have no idea what goes on in this country. What has GEJ not done to solve the problem of electricity or you think that going against the powers that be is an easy feat to achieve.

The first time he made a move against them by removing the fuel subsidy through which the looted billions of naira, didn't people like you support them by unclothing yourself and dancing around carrying your papas coffin on the head claiming it is GEJ while dancing to terry g akpako performance in the name of protest, after that clear support you showed for those people, you want him to still go against them knowing that people like you will still support them.

The epileptic power problem in Nigeria is a gold mine to some very powerful people both of which are in the ruling party and in the opposition and if you think they will allow Nigeria have 247 power supply and close down their gold mine, then you are on journey of no return. Even in the USA, Obama can not do anything he likes, he can't go against the powers that be in his country, the man JFK that tried it, how did he end up? Do you wonder why America is involved in every war on planet earth? go figure that out.

If you think that been President is all that is required to turn Nigeria around, then you are very very mistaken. Have you ever asked yourself why is that whenever there is a major event in Nigeria which people would like to watch there wont be power supply?

The Chance to fix Nigeria for better was mixed in 1967 after the north throwed the aburi accord away since it won't favor their corrupt elites, since then corruption has been grown, nurtured and right now it is one of the foundations of Nigeria and you can't pull it out easily without scattering this country.

It has become a daily part of us whether we like it or not. We breath in corruption and breath it out and it didn't start under GEJ, you can't get anything done in Nigeria today without greasing someones hand. Is no longer a matter of choice, it is a MUST.

You pay to get admission for your kids into the university even though they passed both jamb and aptitude test.

Students write exams and merit an A score but the lecturer won't give it to them until they greases his palm or open their legs for him.

You go to the police to report a crime and they will request for money before the follow it up.

You go to your LGA to request for a document which is supposed to be free yet you are asked to bribe one official or the other.

You decide to travel outside Nigeria, at the airport you will keep greasing the palms of one officer to the other even though your documents are complete or else they will delay you for one frivolous reason or the other until you miss your flight.

The only solution to END all this nonsense is not by voting in apc or voting out pdp. the status quo will still remain regardless of who is in power. Nigerians need to drop tribalism, over zealous religion and take to the street in a form of revolution. Sack all the current politicians from A-Z, hausa, igbo, youroba, e.t.c and then develop a new people orientated constitution without intervention from foreign interests, then we can start talking about the Nigeria of our dreams but can we do that?

NO, because these same people holding over 170 million Nigerians hostage using tribalism and religion will still whip up tribal and religious sentiments and we will end up killing each other while they continue their looting.

Do you know why people support GEJ? reason is in the last 40 to 50years, Goodluck Jonathan has been the best amongst many that has emerged as Nigeria's President. Can you list down past presidents that has achieved more than what GEJ has achieved within the last 4years as President of Nigeria.

Thanks a lot for reflecting what in essence is my opinion about our current political landscape.
An informed expatriate told me sometime ago that GEJ is a good president and I told him NO he is not a good president as I do not deal in ABSOLUTES.
However I said he is a BETTER president than those before him and all those who are LIKELY to get the "opposition's" ticket to contest against him.
QED!

Meanwhile, how many of us are aware that the Jonathan/Sambo administration successfully removed the corruption-laden fertiliser subsidy scheme and distribution YET our agricultural production is witnessing what can simply be described as MIRACULOUS growth.
The fertiliser cabal tried to intimidate the Minister Adesina with the FAKE N6 billion mobile phone for farmers PROPAGANDA but the president saw through it and retained him. A similar thing happened to Arunmah Oteh of SEC.

The Jonathan/Sambo federal administration wanted to do similar with petroleum subsidy but we allowed ourselves to be FOOLED by those who only want short term POULARITY gains at the expense of solid long term POLICY gains.

For how long shall we remain MUGUS

Yes we have to wait for Dangote and other private individuals/companies to invest in the DEREGULATED petroleum sector as they have done in cement and automobile with results starting to show with increased competition, supply and price pressure for reduction. Nothing dissimilar to what happened with telecoms a while back, is it

How many of the foreign countries where we run to as socio-economic EXILES still have their companies run by governments sucking away public funds in the form of subsidies instead of generating TAX revenue, licence fees, EMPLOYMENT, research & development etc for the country

and so , what will happen to the defunct refineries, have we not had several investors willing to buy these defunct refineries over time . do not be decieved , you may have to buy fuel at a higher price as I see no competition if dangote's refinery will be the only refinery . Many STUPID people said the same thing about Dangote cement but forgot that the Jonathan/Sambo administration is MORE transparent than what we have been used to. Since you may not be aware, let me shar ethis news piece with you =>

macjive01:
Nigerian CEMENT War!
Dangote’s Suit Against Ibeto is anti-competitive – FG.

The Federal Government has described a lawsuit brought against Ibeto Cement Company by Dangote Cement as anti-competitive.

In the suit, Dangote is seeking the withdrawal of an import waiver granted Chief Ibeto by the Federal government. The suit also seeks to have Ibeto Cement Company refund billions of Naira to the Federal Government as unpaid taxes and import duties.

Also named as defendants in the suit in which Dangote Cement is the plaintiff are subsidiaries of Ibeto: IBG Investment Limited, Derima Ventures Ltd; Federal Republic of Nigeria, Attorney General of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Finanace, Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, Board of Customs and Excise, Federal Inland Revenue Service and Nigerian Ports Authority.

In the suit Dangote alleges that Ibeto and his co-defendants colluded to give Ibeto companies an unfair advantage by reducing his tax exposure on bulk cement imports to 5% only. Dangote claims this contravenes a presidential directive issued on July 8th 2010 which ordered importers to pay 20% import duty and 5% Value Added Tax.

The plaintiff asked the court to order the Federal Government to recover the duties and taxes owed by Ibeto and to obtain a further refund of N 7.8 billion paid the company by the government as a result of an earlier court judgement.

The Federal Government in its counter affidavit has asked the court to dismiss the suit stating Dangote’s claims were “anti-competition and designed to control the entire cement industry and leave Nigerians at the mercy of the plaintiff’s (Dangote’s) price whims and caprices.”

how does this relate to the question I asked ? how many refineries are on ground to encourage competition as you have just said ? dangote himself does not like competition , its as simple as you have known . cement still ought to be cheaper than it is presently , if you think what you put up there was done in sincerity . do you think its beans building a refinery from scratch ? The govt will still pay for subsidies perhaps as they are doing for ibeto cement. you should get informed properly.

whatare you saying here , the sim sale was because we had a govt who wanted to make money from gullibe Nigerians , just like they will be making money from this also and have you bothered to ask yourself why etisalat came to Nigeria years when other operators had gianed strong grounds and still has a better performance compared to GLO. it all balls down to competitiveness .... there is no competition in refining crude if dangote's refinery is the only refinery that has been licensed . it is no beans building a refinery man . why are Nigerians still paying so much to watch programmes on DSTV , there has no been a major competitor , yes you have multi tv , trend tv , ctl .... but can you compare . you can liken this to what you will have in this sector
