Patchesagain: Nope ! Your own source says the MiG-23 were shot down by army anti--aircraft guns and missiles, not air to air jet combat that I am asking for. You didn't know that last year @Andrewza admitted on this forum that South African Mirage F1 pilots could not challenge Cuban MiG-23 pilots air to air because the Cubans will wipe out SAAF from the air! Also from your source we see that UNITA takes glory for 80% of the bush war effort as proved below : October 24, 1987 MIG-23 ML? 1 Cap. Lorenzo Morales Ramos? Shot down by MANPADS (anti-aircraft force UNITA) 40. October 28, 1987 MIG-21 UM Luvuey - Lt. Cor. Manuel Rojas, Cap. Ramon Quesada Aguilar. Shot down by antiaircraft fire from UNITA. Captured. 41. November 25, 1987 MIG-21? ? No data. 42. November 29, 1987 MIG-23 ML Cuito? Felled by G-5 of the SADF. 43. November 29, 1987 MIG-23 ML Cuito? Felled by G-5 of the SADF. 44. November 29, 1987 MIG-23 ML Cuito? UNITA shot down by MANPADS 45. November 29, 1987 MIG-23 ML Cuito? UNITA shot down by MANPADS 46. December 12, 1987 MIG-21 Cuito? UNITA shot down by MANPADS 47. December 20, 1987 MI-8T Tempue 1 1er.Tte. Alejandro Diaz 48. January 14, 1988 MIG-23 ML Cuito - Cap. Francisco A. Doval. UNITA shot down by MANPADS. South Africa did not do much fighting in Angola, UNITA rebels of Savimbi did all the big jobs ! Proved above . Fact ! . |

jln115: You need new eye glasses to read well? I said ALL olifant tanks, about 230 units, show me proof that they all have new engines, not your source that says you upgraded only 26 units to Mk. 2 version. "In 2003, BAe Systems was awarded a contract to upgrade a stock of 26 Olifant Mk 1B production models to the Mk 2 standard. These are powered by a Continental diesel engine unit outputting at 1,040 horsepower." Show us the engine inside the remaining 200 tanks ! . |

patches689: Bwahahaaha Whom are you trying to fool ? Your old story article is dated 20th March 2014 by Keith Campbell, how come you are posting it December 2014 and yet no contract has been signed and no model type of OPV has been selected by your broke SANDF-SAN No wonder you also added a fake photo to represent your non-existent and unnamed imaginary OPV. Wow ! See what the envy of Nigeria's new jet fighter purchases have done to you in 7 days....boiling envy can lead to epilepsy . 1 Like 2 Shares |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:12pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
agaugust: Just like no contract has been signed for your Junk Fighters Did you not read the artical? The SANDF does not panic buy like Nigeria, we take our time, we study the ships and what is best suited to our needs, we are in no rush. The RFI has been issued, RFQ for the IPV's was issued on December 3rd and the tender will be closed in June, OPV acquisitions will begin thereafter http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=37288:movement-on-the-ipv-front&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242 Not to mention that the number of IPV's to be acquired now stands at 6, not 3. And unlike your day dreams about obsolete Pakistani knock-offs, our project have clear mile-stones and come with concrete information. "broke" SADF just outdid Nigeria in one fell swoop, soon orders will be places for 3 "light frigates" that bring our tally up to 7. Deal with it. |

jln115: No, quote where I said that. I said on mountain altitude there is snow and cold ice air is denser than low land. I also posted a source to prove that even on low land on a cold day, our golf ball travels slower in the air because it gets denser as you go up. I still recommend adult education for you sir, don't be ashamed to be the oldest man in the classroom. |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 4:26pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
agaugust:Yes my friend every normal person knows cold air is more dens, but the higher you go the less dens the air is fact, and as a regular golfer i can tell you that i and everybody else for that matter hit the ball farther in the highveld for example in Joburg than at sea level for example in cape town. Why you might ask, its because air is less dense at higher altitude than at lower altitude. Maybe you should come to SA to receive some decent education! |

ActivateKruger: UNITA shot down more MiG-23 at close range than SADF....Means UNITA faced more deadly air attacks than SADF. 80% of Angolan war was fought by UNITA in that bush war era, historical records show that ! . |
