What's wrong with these people sef. What kind of devilish headline is this.

There was nowhere in the story where it said buhari stole N2.8bn like the headline portrays.

What the NNPC is simply saying is that even during buhari's regime, baseless allegations were made regarding the operations of the corporation.

It is saying that though the monies were not collected as required by law, probably out of oversight, some people still insinuated that the money was missing.

Why are you people making a mountain out of a molehill. We are not all dumb na.

Thank you o! I thought I was the only one that read the vindication which our Nairalanders misconstrued. The last statement is a vindication for Buhari.

Wonder shall never end. How can we place a government that is looking for any mean possible to justify their acts. So $2.5 billion was missed when Gmb was minister and the whole nigeria, including those in power then that re still alive could not talk or raise it. Then this is the time to dig it out to cover immense corruption under Gej. Nigerians re tired of all these ranting. Nothing on earth will bring Gej back as president unless if God is really angry wt us in this country. Enough is enough

mumu
so you have not heard of the missing $2.9 billion before?

Why comparing gej with abacha remember Buhari said abacha government is corruption free with sound economy policy
intergral:
Gej you have failed!!!!!! It will not work......... I see no difference between GEJ and ABACHA...... ABACHA's own is better because he did it with military power what about GEJ that did it under democracy? ........ Nigerians this is the time to shine your eyes..... GEJ you bribed our pastors in the NORTH to tell us not to vote for Buhari because he wants to islamize 9ja, now tell me is he not the person using religion to campaign. Now BH is killing us and Muslims in the North just because we have decided not to vote for you again and still claim its Buhari. Why will Buhari kill people that will Vote for him 100%? That means he wants to reduce his Vote. JONA our eyes are open wide and clear, is it not a Northerner that gave your people Amnesty? Or have you forgotten? WE THE CHRISTIANS IN THE NORTH wiLL support BUHARI...... More than 30,000 people has been killed in the north within 4months and you decide to hide it from the whole world for your stupid campaign!!!!!!!! #KICKTHISEVILCREATUREBACKTOOTUOKE!!!!!!

Sunnybobo3:
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has denied Muhammadu Buhari’s allegation that the corporation keeps two accounts and asked the former head of state to confirm rumours that $2.8bn was missing when he was minister of petroleum in 1977. Buhari, in his acceptance speech after being nominated the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, had said the NNPC maintains two different accounts ─ the one for the public and the other for insiders. In a statement issued on Friday by Ohi Alegbe, NNPC’s group general manager for group public affairs, the corporation accused Buhari of peddling false information. He said: “It is sad that General Buhari, one of the founding fathers of the NNPC who himself has tasted of the virulent but false allegations deliberately concocted to cast the Corporation and the public sector management of the nation’s oil and gas industry in bad light, would be the one to allege that NNPC runs two sets of account books ‘one for public consumption and another for insiders’. “We consider General Buhari’s allegation in bad taste as it is nothing but a deliberate political mischief calculated to cast the Corporation in opprobrium all in a bid to shore up his political capital. “We find it difficult to understand how a former Head of State who has also served as Minister of Petroleum Resources could believe that NNPC keeps two sets of account books to perpetrate fraud, knowing that NNPC is the most audited and scrutinized agency in the country. “In the past one year alone, the Corporation has had its books scrutinized and audited by the Senate Committee on Finance and an external auditor, PriceWaterhouseCooper (PWC). Is it possible for the accounting discrepancies insinuated by General Buhari to escape the attention of such internationally acclaimed auditors? And in any case, why would an alleged fraudulent Corporation keep two sets of accounting books knowing that such could be used as evidence against it? “We hereby state emphatically that NNPC neither keeps two sets of account books nor is aware of the existence of such as the Corporation is run in line with international best practice.”

In 1977, the military head of state, Lt. Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, set up a crude oil sales tribunal to investigate the operations of the Nigerian National Oil Company (NNOC, which metamorphosed into NNPC same year). The tribunal found out that in three years, NNOC had failed to collect its equity share of oil produced by Shell, Mobil and Gulf. As a joint venture partner, NNOC was entitled to 182.95 million barrels of oil production. But NNOC did not find buyers for its own share, thereby losing a potential income of $2.8 billion. But it was instead reported by the media that $2.8 billion was missing.

why cant bughari find buyers for NNOC oil?
is it because shell and bp promised him a commission if he allow them to carry Nigeria share?

that is why he appoint david-west who also allow some foreigners to carry our oil for free because they give him gold wristwatch.
that is bughari way.

Do not be fooled by Buhari's little gimmick of "Am Poor" tactics. The guy is totally corrupt. It was under his watch as Petroleum Minister that the sum of N2 billion Naira = $3 billion dollars mysteriously got missing in 1978.
By the time you convert the sum of $3 billion dollars adjusted to inflation of 2014, we will be talking about hundreds of billions of dollars. Buhari is a classic case of a serial looter in Poor camouflage.
Buhari after Atiku, IBB and Obasanjo, is the most notorious THIEF!

Now, some are lapping up the fable that if Buhari comes in as President, corruption and embezzlement in high places would come to an end. But I think this is like the story of the child and Santa Clause. That reality does not exist now or in the future, because the reality of who Buhari is has been shown to us through his real actions, not by the pictures and images being put out there by his spin-doctors and uncritical supporters. Should I start with the scandal of the N2.8 billion NNPC money that got stolen under his watch as Petroleum Minister and head of NNPC in 1978? Let’s bear in mind that the value of that money in hard currency at the time was more than $3 billion. Under intense public pressure, the Shehu Shagari government, which shortly took over thereafter from the military, set up a Senate probe which traced the money to a London Midland Bank account belonging to Buhari from where the money again got missing. No less than a person of the then Senate Majority Leader and Chairman of the Senate probe panel, Dr Olusola Saraki revealed this in an interview with Vera Ifudu of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). When Ifudu reported this, she was clandestinely sacked by the NTA, but the lady went to court and presented all the evidence and won in a case of wrongful dismissal. Saraki till his death never denied what he told the lady. In the end, they settled Ifudu with a big payout to buy her silence.

I can't defend General Buhari as I wasn't existing when he was President. I am however experiencing President's Jonathans's regime and I know that NOTHING on this earth will cause me to vote for him (assuming INEC let's me register sighs!!). Would I vote for General Buhari? Unlikely.

He is the flag bearer for a party as corrupt (or even more so) than PDP.

Side note: As APC supports and manages agberos on the streets of Lagos, would they (road-side touts and thuggery) become a national standard if APC gets voted in to the presidency?

OBJ SPEAKS ON GMB

“Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is an upright man. Not many people know that his first daughter is married to an Igbo man from Anambra.

"He exempted Christians from performing duty on Sundays. When his Muslim soldiers asked him to exempt them from duty on Fridays he told them the bible says Christians should rest on the 7th day, the Muslims should show him where the Koran says they should rest on Fridays.

"As Head of State he slashed the number of Muslims going on pilgrimage by 50%. His driver and cook for the past 10 years plus are Christians yet some uninformed Nigerians say he is a bigot.

It is a pity that some people failed to understand that PDP deliberately capitalised on the gullibility of Nigerians to paint him black. This they did in order to keep their loot and ensure that he never gets the opportunity to send them to jail.

"How many Nigerians would hold appointment in government as Minister of Petroleum, PTF Chairman and Head of State, yet don’t own a house in Abuja or all over Nigeria.

"He has only one house and never kept a foreign account.Love him or hate him but you cannot take his integrity away from him.” – OBASANJO FACT
Obj never said any of these false stories u copied and paste; and for ur information, buhari's daughter was married to
a fellow Hausa Moslem,
Captain Junaidu Abdulahi. I will like that u give us a link when next u want to copy and paste

But NNOC did not find buyers for its own share, thereby losing a potential income of $2.8 billion. But it was instead reported by the media that $2.8 billion was missing.

From the above you can see that no money was missing and the current NNPC board and Goodluck Jonathan are just looking for a way to smear Buhari for hinting that NNPC Accounts are not transparent and riddled with corruption.

No amount of mudslinging can tarnish the reputation Buhari has rightly earned for consistently choosing the policy of honesty.

Like they say, not only do you have to be honest, you have to be SEEN to be honest.

Buhari ticks both boxes in the minds of honest discerning Nigerians.
