banki:Buhari was PTF chairman from 1994 to 1999. He had billions of naira (possibly running into trillions in today's naira value) to work with. He had no civil servants to pay salaries or states to give allocations, all he was asked to do with all that money was to embark on projects. What were the projects he sited in the South east? 4 Likes |

Obiagelli: I know but you must draw comfort and strength from the reality on the ground which shows Nigerians are no longer listening to these lies. Remember they lied that Atiku will defeat Buhari at the just concluded APC primaries? Remember they published articles lying Atiku had the support of 66% of the APC delegates to the extent many APC supporters came here worrying? Did I not insist it was all lies and that Buhari will win convincingly and through a landslide endorsement by APC delegates? Did they not say the SW will not vote for Buhari and would prefer the "moderate" and "well-prepared" Atiku who had run "the most efficient and impressive" campaign of all the candidates? How then do we interpret the reality of how SW delegates, culled from the ordinary people of the region, went to Teslim Balogun Stadium to give Buhari 100% of their votes? Believe me my dear when I say these people are scared. Reality is starring them in the face. Their lies and scaremongering are not working any more on a people totally fed up of the ultra-corrupt, totally inept and brazenly anti-people current occupant of Aso Rock. Nigeria is now firmly mired in sleaze, corruption, criminality, terrorism and general insecurity of lives and property. This is what Nigerians are fed up of and looking for deliverance from. We will soon enter a phase of campaigning. It will be imperative to face our own role of promoting the APC and GMB as best as we can. Doing this will exclude paying attention to desperate mischief-makers devoted to telling lies Nigerians are no longer willing to listen to let alone believe. If OP and his kind wants to say Buhari did nothing for the SW let him stay here all day doing so. Nigerians know the truth and the people of the region he is targeting with his deceitful thread already know who they will vote for. The horrible and wasted 5 years of GEJ has made their minds up and the OP's desperate efforts to malign Buhari is nothing but an exercise in futility. 4 Likes 1 Share |

How Buhari Skewed PTF Projects in Favor of His Northern Zone- By Afenifere The Abacha regime created a parallel government through the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) headed by Major General Muhammed Buhari. Nothing else typifies the marginalization of the Yoruba than the lopsidedness of the projects carried out by the PTF. Figures from PTF Situation Reports (Vol. 2 Dec. 98) show that the PTF carried on as if there was no South West. Of all the roads rehabilitated by the PTF, only 1984.5 kilometres of roads representing 10.84 per cent were carried out in the South West; from where the bulk of the PTF revenue came since the zone consumes over 60 per cent of refined petroleum products. All the Southern States had 4,440.43 kms or 24 per cent of road rehabilitation as against 13,870.47 kms or 76 per cent in the Northern States zone three comprising the North-West States of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara had a lion share of 5020 kms or 27.42 per cent because the Fund’s Chairman, Buhari and the military dictator Sani Abacha were from there; zone four comprising the North-East States of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe picked 23.48 per cent. This is the zone where Salihijo Ahmed, the late Chief Executive of Afri-Project Consortium APC, the sole consultants that supervised all PTF projects came from. Figures in other sectors were more scandalous. For instance, under the National Health and Educational Rehabilitation Programme (NHERP), the South West had zero allocation in the tertiary programme, while the North picked 100 per cent. In the vocational programme, the South West had zero while the North had 97 per cent. In the primary area, the South-West had zero against 88 per cent for the North and in the secondary area, it was zero for the South-West and 86 per cent for the North. The health sector is similar. For the Teaching Hospitals, the South-West had zero while the North had 62 per cent. For the Specialist Hospitals, it was zero for the South-West and 71 per cent for the North; in General/State Hospitals the Yoruba had nothing while the North had 56 per cent for health clinics, it was zero for the South-West against the North’s 100 per cent. Under the food supply summary, the Southwest had 7.26 per cent compared with 83 per cent for the North, Buhari’s zone having 60.54 per cent to itself. Demographic Manipulation: The Northern wielders of power have skewed all demographic indicators to marginalise the Yoruba and confer undue advantage on the North. For instance, while the old Kano and Lagos used to have the same number of divisions, various demographic manipulations over the years have brought about absurd disparities between the two states. While the old Lagos remains a state with 20 local governments, the old Kano has become two states-Kano and Jigawa with 77 local governments. These are some of the indices used for revenue sharing. www.nigerianmuse.com/20061228122222zg/nigeria-watch/all-about-the-oputa-panel-hrvic/nigeria-has-persecuted-the-yoruba-submission-of-afenifere-to-the-human-rights-violations/ 11 Likes 1 Share |

Obiagelli: List what your general has done for the South-East with concrete proof and stop trying to derail by calling GEJ. You people are so empty and uncouth with your arguments and you still wonder why your general constantly loses elections. If Buhari did anything for the East, surely, it can't be hard to find. List out those achievements or quietly get out of the thread, you nuisance. 5 Likes 1 Share |

When you guys kept asking what GEJ has done for the South east you didn't know that one day the question will turn right back at you. Please my people, the next time any South westerner asks you what Jonathan did for the south east to warrant our support, don't bother trying to list anything. Just ask them what Buhari did for the South west as head of state and PTF chairman and watch them fumble and tumble. This is what they call ''setting the cat among the pidgeons''. 12 Likes 1 Share |

Gbawe: Please, I personally am not here for ethnocentric babbles, but to be educated on the wonderous performance of your hardworking, upright and saintly general. Tell us what he did for the South-East in all his 6 years as PTF chairman as well as his 1.5 years as Head of State. Constantly, we have witnessed the attempts by the GMB camp to blackmail Igbos into abandoning Jonathan (oooh, it wasn't "ethnocentric" then) because according to them "GEJ did nothing for the Igbos". But now the questions we ask you political geniuses are... 1. What did Buhari do for the South-East in all his 6 years as PTF chairman and almost 2 years as Head of State? 2. With the answers to (1) above, what, in your opinion, makes him a better option to the South-Easterners? You only expose your disastrously poor intelligence when you try to run away from the topic by citing "Ethnocentric motives" which only linger in your own guilty conscience. Please, we await your answers. Feel free to Google while you're at it too. 8 Likes |

berem: PTF apparently did not build roads in the SE because it allowed itself to become a victim of the typical malaise plaguing the political landscape of the SE. Their politicians hijack all government contracts and embezzle the fund without qualms. It happens in other regions but the SE case is very pathetic because little or nothing will be done. The masses, themselves, do not care because of the believe that material success is divine no matter the manner it was achieved. I lived and worked in Enugu throughout the PTF era. Up until 2005 the effects of its intervention were still being felt especially in UNTH. On the issue of road construction the people should hold Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu responsible because he was the highest ranking Abaca apologist in that era and, as such, enjoyed a lot of patronage by way of ffederal contracts. He was allegedly awarded the contract for the Enugu-PH road but ended up doing a 'shovel and head pan job'. |
