Thus stepping away from the comfort zone you were used to before the incident. Remember Nas almost also fell off after his mum dead...but he found solace in being super pro-black. And he's back to the old Nas now. Folks just handle things differently.

Err, since he owns GOOD Music and makes beats for them, I think he still listens to their projects. Obviously with that, he'll be conversant with the creative space they're in.
