I was born in maiduguri, I have lived my entire life in the north (finally settled in Abuja). Honestly, it really hurts me when I hear about killings in north. Though I'm south I don't feel safe. Despite our differences we all are one.
Even though the government, military and police have been a thorn (BULLIES) on it's citizens (COMMOM MAN like me) for several years, they still need to be shown support to defeat this evil called Boko Haram!

RIP TO A GALANT SOLDIER.

I know him so well... He was our camp commandant during my nysc in Taraba State in 2008. A very fine soldier... He would punish us wit 200 push up but before we would start, he would do 300 push up first, just for us to know dat wotever he asked us to do, he could do twice more Dan dat. A very very fine soldier... wot we were told den is dat he was soldier dat rescues or evacuates injured soldiers in d war front and also covers up for dem. Dey said he could stay upside down off war plane or any airforce jet wit rope or chain tied to his leg and be rescuing injured soldiers for more Dan 24 hrs. I know him so so so well... A very fine and well trained soldier he was.

It's very pathetic, Major S.K Umaru strikes a cord of familiarity in me. He headed the soldiers that trained 2011 Batch C corp members posted to Jigawa Temporary Orientation Camp. He used to appear cool and composed, he would wrap a shawl around his neck in the day or cold mornings. He didn't bark orders around then but he knew his onions. He didn't tolerate indiscipline. He was well respected by all then.

Major Umaru was my senior and friend during our military school days at Airforce military school Jos.His mates used to call him 'SK'. I just shed a tear for this competent gallant officer on reading this sad news. He was our Junior N/co in red squadron. Any ex-jam on this forum that can remember him? He was a 92 set ex Jam. Nigerian govt will apportion hardship allowance to themselves but the real men on the war front that deserves it re left to die with nothing to remenber them for.
