I think the practice varies from country to country. In the UK, there is classification for Masters Degrees in the following categories: Distinction (which is equivalent to a Bachelors' first class), Merit/Commendation (equivalent to a 2:1). For instance if you make a Distinction or Merit your certificate will read thus: "Masters of Laws with Distinction" or "Masters of Laws with Merit". If you made neither, your certificate will merely read: "Masters of Laws". However, there are no classifications for a PhD (in the UK). A PhD is a PhD.

I'm looking at the future of human rights in Africa with a view to proposing reforms to the current institutional framework for safeguarding and protecting those rights. In other words: how do we reform the African Commission on Human Rights and African Court to enable them play a more effective role in the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa? (putting it quite simply smiley)

Great! We are both on the same page. We also insert transition metals into the cavity of phthalocyanine molecules. I am using Indium, Galium, Zinc and lead as my transition metals due to their heavy atom effects. Getting a good solvent system for purification is a huge task for complex molecules.

I am doing palladium, platinum and ruthenium chemistry majorly although i'm delving into other transition metal(II) alongside.

Yea, purification of complex molecules is tasking ..... hectic chromatographic techniques but it's worth getting the compounds in the purest forms.

That's great, I also intend researching on human rights in Africa, Nigeria to be precise and the possibility of eradicating the violation of human rights through ethnic and religious conflict. Have you published any articles?

Please, fight for the rights of average Nigerians. The barbarians in different positions are oppressing the citizens and stealing from the nation. This is your chance to do something about them. I think it shouldn't be all about having the certificate you are so much anxious to get the PhD.

I can see mostly PhD in Engineering and science courses yet none of them could come up with any invention to help and develop the Nigerian scientific community thereby advancing the society. What a big shame to all the PhD holders on this thread!

Nigeria will move forward without you because your certificates are useless to the nation! angry lipsrsealed cry

That's a good one. Many rights are violated in ethnic and religious conflicts in Nigeria, and they go unremedied!! I have a publication in the offing, the publishers having agreed to publish same. Also going to publish a text co-authored with a colleague and a Professor in my department.

Hello, I have gone through your posts and I really appreciate and respect your views. However, I will appreciate that you do a more intelligent criticism by offering a value proposition. You being an ordinary critic is not enough. Why don't you ask a single critical and constructive question, and wait for response, rather than make statements that you can not justify.

In my view, you are a very ignorant person.

I look forward to your constructive questions. I am sure people who are much more intelligent than you are will provide answers .

Thank you.

I guess one of the reasons of doing a PhD is to come up with solutions to practical problems. These solutions would be useless if not implemented, say, by passing new policies. So we either have to convince the governments or become the government. smiley

The fact that the Nigerian PhD holders are bunch of annoying individuals who are concerned about their individualism makes me nauseate each time I see them. The researches he is talking about are not going to end up providing solutions to the problems because he has no modern techniques to do that, like publishing them on the online journals, on peer-to-peer review sites, feature them on famous news channels, etc. I am not impressed by those ludicrous researches in thier acropolises. I completely agree with you on this very post. If any of them disagree with my views on this thread they should provide facts of what they have done with their certificates to move that country forward other than to use them to get high positions and loot the nation. They aren't doing anything about the state of the country than to pride themselves in their certificates. And, that is preposterous to say the least.
Re: Thread For PHD Students by Nobody: 4:33pm On Dec 19, 2014
I challenge you all to provide evidences of what you have done with your PhD certificates to move that country forward. Dangote has done more for that country than all of you put together. That is a big shame on your sides!

My dear, you really need help. How I wish someone can use you as a research specimen. You are a very good specimen. You are so bottled up with your personal hatred for people who have not offended you.

My dear, please work on your emotional intelligence. You need it to succeed in life. If you continue this way, you might end up being very myopic and stupid .

Thank you very much for the encouraging post. Indeed, I find it interesting and appealing to the reason I stand in opposition to most PhD holders on this thread. My views are well spelled out in the previous posts and replies. It is palpable I want a change in that country. However, most of the people who post here with PhD certificates are of questionable high ranking knowledge in their various fields. That is after I see most of them couldn't meet up to standard in their use of the English language that is the nation's lingua franca . Somebody even say I should talk to the authority of their various universities, if I am in doubt of their certificates.

If I must ask questions, which I intend doing, Nigerians give lot of excuses which I have seen already in some posts.

1) What have the PhD certificate holders done to move Nigeria forward?

2) Why is Nigeria so backward with many PhD in various fields?

3) What has any Nigerian with high certificate done to invent something that would move the nation forward in Engineering and sciences?

4) How useful are they to the Nigerian society with all the high knowledge?

5) Why is it that most of them can not write in English language?

6) Why do they take defensive stands on this thread against my posts?

I am also looking forward to your appropriate answers to my question according to my list.

Thank you once again.

P.S: I think we are heading toward something interesting at this point in time. I promise to remain polite to you as much as possible.

Oh,yeah! Is that all you can say for hearing the truth? That is not about emotions per se. Silly emotions are all rather sentiments and I have nothing to do with them as you're making it to look like. You are only begging the question after seeing your view on that very post reflecting on the very true nature of Nigerian PhD researchers. I can not find any of their works online. Please....
