The Reason For Southeast To Vote Buhari by fairheven: 6:57am On Dec 20, 2014
Been from the southeast mysef,I have always felt that GMB shud have picked an IBO man as his running mate, for the fact that southwest has had Obasanjo in power for eight good years, then south south with Jonathan, for six years,so the fairest tin shud be someone of Ibo extraction to his VP.
But consider this my pple..
1.Jonathon has not done anything to deserve our vote in southeast
2.Jonathan wife's mother is from Abia an yet Abia has been raped by one wicked and heartless leader called "ochendo"under Jonathan's watch.
3.most of the project that Jonathan initiated in our region have turnout to be empty promises for the sake our vote,Eg,second niger bridge and onisha port.
4.the most important reason to vote buhari..this man"the righteous one"has infact chosen Ibo as running mate befor in the person OKADIGBO AND one OBI(can't remember his surname)but he didn't win ,not that he didn't succeed, but obviously like we all know, those election were manipulated by obasanjo an co.because even the beneficiary,Yaradua confirmed it.

So it behooves on evry Ibo to leave sentiment aside an tink wat will benefit us as a nation an vote buhari for change..an talking about change,am not goner vote party but individuals that I know will bring the desired change,eg: am going to vote out PDP AND JONA OUT OF ABUJA AND AM GOING TO ALSO VOTE OUT APC AND TINUBU OUT of LAGOS BY VOTING "uncle JIMI as the next governor..that is the change we are talking about. God bless Nigeria!

Buhari is yet to impress me with his speeches, he is too emotional just like he cried and instigated violence in 2011
He doesn't know nigeria very well, he also doesn't know politics and he lacks the needed ideas that can transform nigeria.

South east people buhari needs ur votes. He is much more better than jonathan. This guy loves nigerian more than the current president. be part of the change. wind of change is almost everywhere except southeast and maybe south south. Am 100% sure that this man will end curruptions. He doesn't need nigerian money. He is not greedy check his track records. and he is surrounded by technocrats. Jonathan is a good man too but he is surrounded by bad adviser. tell me why would a resonable president goto dance and party after Abuja bomb blast and ofc after potsikum children killing? If not bad adviser. no one in the country knows the asset of the current president. but by the grace of God Almighty all will be revealed next year

DISADVANTAGES OF PRIVATISATION

1. YOUR SERVICES GET WORSE

Private companies have a legal duty to reward their shareholders, so they have to prioritise making a profit. This means they may end up cutting corners, or underinvesting in your public services. Water companies ignore leaks instead of investing in infrastructure, while private company involvement in the NHS has been bad for patients. Private companies also have 'commercially confidential' contracts, so they don't share information with others; this makes it harder for them to work in partnership to make services better.

2. YOUR COSTS GO UP

You pay more, both as a taxpayer and directly when you pay for public services. Value for money goes down because private companies must make a profit for their shareholders and they also pay their top executives more money. This means either we the people, or the government, or both, end up paying more. Fares on our privatised railways and buses are the most expensive in Europe, while people are also being hit with high energy bills. 57% of 140 local authorities surveyed in 2011 said they had brought outsourced public services back in-house or were considering it, with 60% saying that the main reason was the need to cut costs.

3. YOU CAN'T HOLD PRIVATE COMPANIES ACCOUNTABLE

If the local council runs a service, you know where to go to complain. But if a private company runs a service, they are not democratically accountable to you. That makes it harder for you to have a voice. Academy schools are less accountable to parents. Atos, the welfare provider, tried to silence disability campaigners instead of responding to their concerns. A report by the Institute of Government reveals problems in outsourcing public services, including a lack of transparency, manipulation of contracts by suppliers and a reluctance to sack underperforming providers.

4. STAFF ARE UNDERMINED

If you work in public services, privatisation will make your life harder. A Europe-wide study found that privatisation has had ‘largely negative effects on employment and working conditions’. There are often job cuts and qualified staff are replaced with casual workers, who are paid less and have worse conditions. This has a knock-on effect on the service being provided – for example, in the cases of care workers or court interpreters.

5. IT IS RISKY AND DIFFICULT TO REVERSE

A review of outsourcing finds that the claims made about its benefits are unproven, but that potential risks are substantial. A Deloitte report finds that many large companies are bringing services in-house because of the costs, complexity and risks of outsourcing. Once our public services are privatised, it's often difficult for us to get them back. Not only that, we lose the pool of knowledge, skills and experience that public sector workers have acquired over many years. We also lose integration both within and across different public services.

The problem with Nigeria is our public expenditure structure. Govt is under a hell lot of financial pressure and the only way to lessen that is via privatization. The free resources will be re-allocated towards pursuing a welfare state. His excellency is doing that and for this, i will vote for him.
