diluminati: As much as GEJ has flaws, your reasoning is 1. Nigeria's oil wealth is split between the FG, 36 states and 730+ local governments. It's unfair to acclaim Nigeria's oil wealth to one unit - the FG - rather than ALL entities. 2. What Nigeria or the FG receives is what partially finances the budget (obviously excluding the excesses of NNPC). We can see the effect of falling oil prices right now, is it on this meager budget that you want Nigeria to build a system worth several billions of $$$? 3. Thus, it's not feasible for Nigeria to build HSR like you pointed out in the pic. Research shows that such systems are heavily expensive, in fact, most cities and municipalities are heavily indebted when such projects are undertaken. The folks in those cities are paying the high price of HSR, if implemented in Nigeria, will you pay the price? As long as a decent rail system is present and can move you from one city to the other, let's cut our coat according to our size. 4. Stop the comparison between Nigeria and SA because they are on different levels and I mean in terms of obstacles to development. I believe that the rail structure isn't the best BUT it's a notch up from the decayed old system we know about. Is there room for improvement? Yes, but let's be realistic in our demand and approach to our demand. Bottom line: Nigeria made money from oil, but the money was split anyway making it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to build such railway infrastructures. Furthermore, the "Nigerian Railway Act pose a serious impediment to its success, and as a result, the burden of improvement largely depends on the FG. I am sure that if railway was privatized BUT price regulated, HSR will come at its time. 39 Likes 3 Shares |

angelsing: Open another thread for that. My opinion: the mayhem that has befallen the north is sad, in fact, words cannot express the tragic events including loss of lives the north have experienced. Nonetheless, the north brought upon itself the destruction that's engulfing it. Our people say "he who brings ant infested woods invites lizards into his home". I feel bad as to what's going on and I pray daily that God will intervene but security starts at home. I do not like SLS but I commend him for finally speaking out against BH, although I had initially thought he supported them. I may be wrong, but we need everyone to condemn this heinous act of terrorism committed by BH. Question: is the north is willing to join the train? 21 Likes 2 Shares |

So because he fixed the railway I should be dancing Azonto? How about the looming crises from the devaluation of Naira as a result of executive looting? Is this all we are getting from the missing $20bn unaccounted for? How many of those trains are available. Please take a trip to lagos and see how people hang on to the trains like ants. It does'nt still change my decision of not voting for him, if I have the opportunity to vote... After almost 6yrs- "6 Years" in power, Na only railway transcript im dey brag about, was a railway system not present before in Nigeria... If he was even talking about an upgrade to bullet trains... is maintenance of infrastructure (esp important ones like transportation) not supposed to be part of a nations budget? mtchew... The "only" thing G.E.J's done for Naija's history was to remove fuel subsidy and still maintain that D.A.M woman till now. complete Nonsense... abeg Next chapter All are morons, but lets give different morons a chance until proven otherwise... keeping one moroñ in control for so long makes us all morons. 3 Likes |
