Great Expectations

"Out of my thoughts! You are part of my existence, part of myself. You have been in every line I have ever read, since I first came here, the rough common boy whose poor heart you wounded even then. You have been in every prospect I have ever seen since - on the river, on the sails of the ships, on the marshes, in the clouds, in the light, in the darkness, in the wind, in the woods, in the sea, in the streets. You have been the embodiment of every graceful fancy that my mind has ever become acquainted with. The stones of which the strongest London buildings are made, are not more real, or more impossible to be displaced by your hands, than your presence and influence have been to me, there and everywhere, and will be. Estella, to the last hour of my life, you can't choose but remain part of my character, part of the little good in me, part of the evil. But, in this separation I associate you only with the good, and I will faithfully hold you to that always, for you must have done me far more good than harm, let me feel now what sharp distress I may. O God bless you, God forgive you!"

UC WEB...

Unless a cryin' cub can lie n' play no ploy with a lyin' antelope

*Chai, my chi, yeh, me an herbalist! Nibo, you treat no trudgin' guillotine a stupe.

Where's that that that titchy-some dull? Thrust me, yes, yes, yes bring it here *kekere awo

Emergency demise, need makin' an animismic being, leave, flow, go

*Badamosi o, this calls have grown to three times, wreakin' the head of this dull *orunlaala, leave this world o...!

Chai is one of the many exclamatory remarks we have in #Nigeria...
Kekere awo is an or may be called alias and in this piece he is a young boy, an acolyte of the herbalist that need to do evil again...
Nibo means impossible...
Badamosi is a name just like John, the name of the figure the herbalist need to butcher with his charmed dull for...
Orunlaala, meaning here, place of the dead...

Prisoners at Will

I am a prisoner in my own home
The only difference is that I have the keys
My bars are cut to exactly to my size
The walls I built with my own biceps
The Parish priest blessed the foundations
Even my enemies celebrated the completion

I am the hunted in my own jungle
A prey to the mouth I fed with grace
Edible game to the spouses of those I freely give
Their dane riffles, I polish with my tax
The pallets we casted in my fathers foundry
Now like I chicken I have gone for the roast

Suddenly, I am told to lock up
My jailers thousand of miles away but,
Sit in your cell! He screams, or be fed to the desert dogs
The fear of the dogs or the screams of the jailer
Both the source of eternal fright
Just last week the dogs eat them all in onak!

Now I have to dig my borrow deeper
With a thousand escape routes to puzzle the hunters
Down! Down!! I dug till I found myself in the zoo
At least, here the hunters are out of bounds
But thought of the forest still makes me wonder
How many prisoners at will will ever get their freedom!

I love poems...i love to read poems though i hardly write them........am so glad am here....
....let me try one

I am money!
I bewitch , yet
for me, they fret
they dies as they fight
I am evil
yet so much adored
they device most ingenious means
just to get me!

I create quarrels between lovers
I engineer enmity between brothers
I generate animosity between friends
yet I am in every home
And they idolize me
haha! should I say I am a god?

my value lies in my riddance
I would neither feed nor cloth
neither shelter nor amuse
except am gotten rid of
yet they cling to me like
a baby to its mother

I am captivating
I am charming
I am a mysterious giant
I am a masquerading puzzle
haha! I am money!

You are money,
Bewitching is not your purpose
Fretting is not our either but both happens
We fight because we need you.
We die because we have been lied to
That we don't truly live without you

You don't create quarrels, we do that ourselves
Our enmity arise from our innate selfishness
Our greed the fuel that drives us
Our hunger the fear we flee from
Our security our destination
And our humanity we forget in that quest

Your value is all we want
In that is treasure hence our hearts
Our eyes blinded to all else
As our brains turn on in a different way when you are mentioned
Amuse you don't but you make smiles show
Impractical as it is, to some happiness you bring

You are captivating
We look up to you like a god
A god we cant do without
A god that leads to our destruction
A god we can burn our world for
Yet you are simply money
An invention of ours

It is so beautifully ironic
That we worship something we created
We die over something so inconsequential
We base our life on something so immaterial
We ignore the important things
And chase after shadows

Oh money.
Punish me not with lack of you
Fill my stores
Yes my heart is poison with your need and I know it
But this addiction I cant fight
And a fight with you I cant win

Blame me not
I did not make you a legal tender
I did not make you a god
My fathers did
And I am but a creature of instinct
Money I wake up to see another sun
Yet I don't admire the sun in his majesty
I chase an invention so intangible

Wake up every morning with the same dream
Get out of bed for the same purpose
Leave the house before the Apollo does
And hit the streets to get paid
Walk untill your feet curse you
That is the curse we all share out of

We lie plunder and sometimes murder
We loot, kick and bribe
We supress our conscience with the end point
And we master our games like athletes
We starve ourselves happiness
And we ignore the little things

We look to the future and we smile
This hustling must pay
Will pay
Has to pay
Else we will die trying
We are following a tradition

We have signed our lives over to paper
We chase it with diligence
We dream about it
We think about it
We have plans for when we get it
Because that is our job

It is our life
It is our purpose
We cant do without it
Just leave us to this
And we are happy
Our pride

We have to get the paper
Those of high value
Those we buy 'em jewels with
And we make the world notice us
We will not rest until we get it
And not rest even after we get it.

This is a religion
If you don't have the faith you won't understand
It is a a way of life
Our priests are set
And our prophets known
We are who we are.

Paper chasers they call us
Ambition is the game
Money is the end result
And wealth the over view
Give us the money
Or let us be

Our lust insatiable
Our purpose infallible
The results invaluable
And what do we do with the rewards?
Invest the money
And get back to hustling

The paper chaser's creed
