The People's Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial flag bearer in Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu got more than he bargained in the ancient city of Aba as he was booed by the marmot crowd that gathered for the Aba Half Marathon held yesterday in the Enyimba city.
Ikpeazu was among dignitaries that graced the well attended sports fiesta and immediately he was handed over the microphone to address the crowd, the people could not hide their feelings as there were noisome booing and shouts of discontent from the crowd. All attempts and pleas to calm down the crowd fell into deaf ears.
Instead of giving the gubernatorial aspirant audience, there were uncontrollable shouts and chanting of words such as "ONYE DIRTY,ONYE DIRTY,ANYI ACHOGI,wuuuuu", by the crowd.
Apparently irked by the unfriendly reception, the PDP flag bearer had no option but to storm out of the venue with his entourage in anger, while all PDP branded vehicles that were packed in the arena were immediately driven out of the venue for fear of vandalisation.
The marathon which started in the early hours of the day at the Enyimba stadium is organized by Magic FM, a leading radio station in Aba city, and yesterday marked the last edition in the state.
Many dignitaries, including politicians gathered at the event. Expectedly, PDP and its flag bearer in the state had hoped to use the occasion to shore up their political fortunes in the state through a public address and solidarity messages to the marathoners and the audience. But this unfortunately went sore.

Abia state is a serious indictment of the PDP. I think they have given APC a free ticket here. Mindless stealing by cultists and shady characters. I was a living witness to Okonjo Iweala taking the world bank president to Aba during het first tenure as Obasanjo' s Minster of Finance. You would think successive governments would have followed up to ensure the infrastructure was developed quickly enough to support the potential industrial goldmine that the city would have become but leave it to Kalu, Orji and PDP to really tuck things up royally.

I think I agree with you. APGA is more in touch with the grassroots in the East and don't usually have to worry about Abuja politics.

Ikpeazu was the ASEPA chairman (Abia State Environmental Protection Agency) and under his nose, Aba grew in filt and dirt! What his agency care more of was to collect the monthly sanitation due while the town stinks and rots.

The Ngwa people would have loved Acho Nwakanma to clinch the ticket; but that's pdp for you; the plans they have for you is of evil and never good.
