A 127-year-old steam-powered car will be auctioned off for millions in Hershey, Pa., on Oct. 6, by the automotive auction house RM Auctions.

The 1884 De Dion-Bouton Et Trepardoux Dos-A-Dos Steam Runabout is the world’s oldest car that is still running and drivable.

Built for the French Count de Dion in 1881 and later nicknamed “La Marquise,” the steam-powered car is only nine feet long and weighs 2,100 pounds.

Interesting, ive seen it.

La Marquiseis the world's oldest running automobile. It is an 1884 model made by Frenchmen De Dion, Bouton and Trépardoux. The car was a quadricycle prototype named forde Dion's mother. In 1887, the Count of Dion drove La Marquise in an exhibition that has been called the world’s first car race, though no other car showed up. It made the 20 odd mile Paris to Versailles round trip at an average speed of almost 16miles per hour (26 km/h). The following year, he beat Bouton in a three wheeler with an average speed of 18miles per hour (29 km/h). Fueled by coal, wood and bits of paper, the car takes 30-40 minutes to build up enough steam to drive. Top speed is 38 miles per hour (61 km/h).

Auctioned: $4.6M (2011).

That is called crumple zone meant to absorb impact that is why the driver will walk away from most wrecks.

These cars you mention seem to be very popular but considering F150 sold about half million every year(about 700k) would have been very common too.

Missing is the Citroen, Corolla,LR Defender
