Hi everyone! Congratulations to the new moms. Forgive me if this is an 'off point' post. I've read on this thread that there is an American embassy VO that runs some sort of question and answer thread on Nairaland. Please can anyone post the link urgently. I can't seem to get an interview date for my son, it keeps saying no date available. Every one else in the family has a visa. urgent please! |

Hi mums. Am new here but have tried to read a few posts in this thread. I started making my plans rather late to birth my third baby in the US cos It was difficult getting my leave approved. Am due by early February and am travelling on the 4th of January. My POE is JFK but am heading towards Texas. I really don't have time on my hands so I need all the advice I can get. Unfortunately I can't go through the entire thread cos of my very tight and busy schedule at work and I need to take decisions fast so I can tidy up my documentation. I don't have family in Texas but friends have told me they have very affordable hospitals. Please friends I need your candid advise on which good hospital I can use between the range of 5k to 6k. From what I can see peeps on this thread are like family so I am also looking out for company from mums here. This would influence my choice of destination. Thanks |

favouredB: Hi favouredB, The best advise I can give you is to thoroughly go through the thread and search for any information that has to do with Houston/Texas. That way will fully understand the process (if you don't already). This thread has a wealth of information you cannot even begin to imagine. At least you have narrowed your options to Texas so it will not take a lot of time as you can disregard info that is is not applicable to you. Anyone can reel off hospitals but at the end of the day the decision is yours and it has to be a fully informed decision. Anyway, you can try any of these hospitals - i believe they are in the 2k5 to 3k range for vaginal birth. West Houston Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas Oakbend Medical Centre in Richmond, Texas, Methodist Houston Hospital in Houston, Texas Methodist Houston Sugarland, in Sugar Land, Texas On the websites you will find Drs that are affiliated to each hospitals, typical dr fees is between 2k to 3k as well. All of this excludes lab work, pediatrician fee, sometimes ultrasound, epidural etc. Good luck! 2 Likes |

Thank you. A friend mentioned doctores parati to me and that informed my choice of Texas. I have actually contacted them but I need first hand info from anyone who has used them recently. I think I read somewhere on this thread that their appointment letters are always in doubt at the POE. Can someone pls clarify this for me. I would really appreciate |

Hi everybody. I have been a silent follower of this thread for a while now and must say I have benefited immensely as a result. This thread should be officially labeled the “Holy Grail” for all US bound expecting parents. The amount of information is simply mind boggling. It will be sinful for me to ask my question without first saluting all the active members of this forum who have contributed to this thread either by sharing their personal experiences (VO, POE, airline, hospital etc), offered advice and guidance to the confused (like yours truly), shared contacts details of critical resources (doctors, hospitals) etc. I doff my hat to you all!! That said, I need you advice on a dicey matter. My wife was granted a 2 year B1/B2 visa in April 2013 on the basis that she was accompanying me for a business trip. During her interview, the VO asked if she was pregnant and she replied that she wasn't which was true. We traveled as planned in July last year and spent 3 weeks. She eventually got pregnant in August and is due mid May 2015. She plans to travel for childbirth towards the end of March. Her visa will be expiring on the 14th of April 2015 (about 3 wks after her arrival). My question is this, should she? A. Travel using her current visa. B. Renew her visa before traveling According to the information on the UStraveldocs website, she should be able to travel with her current visa though it will be expiring shortly afterwards. However, I am a bit nervous about this because I fear a heartless CBP officer might capitalize on this as a basis to refuse her entry. On the other hand, I am skeptical about renewing her visa before she travels as I do not want to rock the boat. Even though the probability of a denial is low, there is always a possibility it might happen. Some members have experienced this before and shared on this forum I seriously need to know your opinions/advice on our dilemma. Please forgive my long post. God bless |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by justwise(m): 7:09pm On Dec 24, 2014 |
Triax: She can travel with her current visa, the stamp at the POE is what matters and not the 3 weeks left on her current visa. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by zeezahbee(f): 7:14pm On Dec 24, 2014 |
Triax:when she gets to the POE, she will be stamped 6months regardless of how many days left on her visa. the stamp matters not the visa expiration. So you are good to go |

The guru (justwise) has said it as it is. Someone had a similar problem sometime ago on this thread and i took time out to research this. Your wife is within her rights to travel,it is the CBP officer at POE that has the right to determine how long she will be in the us and by the grace of God she will be stamped in for 6months. Dont entertain any fear Triax: |
